The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Morning all.

Well Greenland doesn't seem popular so I'll go back to a good old British breakfast.

Sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, hash browns and tomatoes.

Florence is making fried bread and French toast, Fernando is making Irish coffees.

Morning a bacon sandwich sounds great. DS is being a pickle over night so was up 2-5.15 with him. Absolutely shattered- DH is laying in today so using the TV to have a tea in peace.

Cattermole · 21/02/2021 08:47

Morning all. Any HP sauce to go with that bacon butty?

Not a dad, but the Junior Engineer is a Beano reader...

sashh · 21/02/2021 09:40

We have HP and also a selection of home made preserves, the red onion chutney goes well with sausages.

mogloveseggs · 21/02/2021 10:37

Morning
Bacon sounds good.
Beans readers here too especially dh.
Shopping came at 8am so I've been up since 7. Going back to work will kill me Grin

mogloveseggs · 21/02/2021 10:37

Beans? Beano!!!

MinnieMountain · 21/02/2021 11:52

DS has a Beano subscription too.

Bacon butty with no sauce for me please.

I’m having to fit in overtime around homeschooling as of next week, so definitely need an Irish coffee.

BaconAndAvocado · 21/02/2021 12:19

Not sure if breakfast is still up for grabs?

If so, could I have some avocado with my bacon please?..........

Feels like Spring here, 13degrees and beautiful!

Cattermole · 21/02/2021 13:01

We've just been out feeding the birds in the garden - they're getting on with the business of courting now the weather is warmer, so I feel a bit bad about eggs with my bacon ;-)

sashh · 22/02/2021 05:35

Morning all, breakfast is always up for grabs.

Well if people are out feeding birds maybe it's time to start handing out flasks and packing ups.

Well it is couple of days late if you are religious but I think a range of pancakes is in order for today, sweet or savory fillings available, try the mushroom and cheese filling.

OP posts:
OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 22/02/2021 05:40

i could go for a pancake. or three or so. havent slept all night and now im sat here starving

sashh · 22/02/2021 06:40

Any reason for the sleepless night?

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 22/02/2021 07:10

Morning!

Lemon and sugar pancakes for me please (old-school).

I’m listening to birds in our conservatory now it’s warm enough to sit in again.

MinnieMountain · 22/02/2021 07:11

Obviously the birds are not IN the conservatory (coffee hasn’t kicked in yet).

mogloveseggs · 22/02/2021 07:45

Morning
Back to the grind today Sad

sashh · 23/02/2021 04:25

Morning all.

Well it looks like spring is around the corner so we might like some refreshing iced teas and smoothies, Fernando will obviously be making the Long Island variety. But we need something hot so toast, crumpets, potato cakes, basically anything toastie.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 23/02/2021 05:42

Morning

Crumpets please. And coffee as usual.

How was your first day back at the grindstone mogloveseggs?

Will the bumble cats be out of hibernation soon? Do they need any special care? I’m happy to be on early duty.

sashh · 23/02/2021 06:33

@MinnieMountain

It might be worth a look, watch out for tiny paw prints and take some food with you.

I might let the kitten bees out for an hour later, it depends, it's quite windy here.

OP posts:
Cattermole · 23/02/2021 13:12

Very windy here, even the Tank has been reluctant to venture out of doors. One very grumpy catty-mog.
His brother is chasing small girl-cat up and down the stairs. She is not impressed and he thinks it's an absolute hoot.
Crumpets for me please, could I have honey with mine....honey?

sashh · 24/02/2021 05:23

Morning all.

Honey with crumpets, I like that I think maybe we can have a honey themed breakfast

Hony cake.
Honey roast cornflakes.
Honey in tea.
Honey on crumpets, bread, toast.

crazycatlady7 · 24/02/2021 06:50

I love honey bread! In serious need of caffeine, functioning on 5hrs sleep again. DS is up constantly from 1am and started his day at 4.30am. When do they start sleeping consistently?

MinnieMountain · 24/02/2021 07:12

Mmm. Honey on thick white toast for me please.

@crazycatlady7 6 months to a year maybe? You have my sympathy about the long wake ups.

Does anyone have a honey bread recipe? It sounds tasty.

I’m going to have a look for the bumble cats. And to admire the bulbs. I love Spring flowers.

crazycatlady7 · 24/02/2021 09:04

@MinnieMountain he's 16 months 😢 think he's doing something developmental as he is just changing daily. I just need some sleep.

He's now at the childminders but I have a full on day at work. Hoping he's more chilled for me Thursday and Friday. 🤞he must be tired too 🤷‍♀️

MinnieMountain · 24/02/2021 13:59

@crazycatlady7 I can only remember DS and DN’s sleep at 16 months. It’s probably not unusual. DS was often up for the day at 5am when he was 2.

BaconAndAvocado · 24/02/2021 14:25

crazycatlady I can remember your pain so well! Hang in there 🙂

sassh honey-themed items sound very gorgeous and I too would like to make some honey bread!

Had a walk over our local golf course earlier today. It was just so beautiful, felt great to be alive especially with looking to a Lockdown-free future 🤞🏻
