The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Morning all.

@MinnieMountain I'm catching up with study, slowly.

I think we need some warm food this cold and miserable day so things in toast, beans, cheese, egg, mushrooms and obviously various breads.

Fernando is making smoothies, vodka optional.

I feel everything is slow this week. DS isn't sleeping well so we've been up until 3/4am and then working.

Last day for me today and maybe we can catch up on sleep tomorrow. 🤞

I hated VI form and frequently did not attend, loved working but when I stopped I realised I needed a degree to stand a chance of employment and then I caught 'the study bug' .

Florence is making soda bread, Fernando is experimenting with chutneys / sauces eg yellow pepper chutney.

Soda bread sounds good. I’ve never had yellow pepper chutney.

Chutney is easy, 50/50 vinegar and sugar, add your fruit / veg and cook until you have a mush 50% less than you started with.

A friend of mine makes the must delicious pineapple chutney. Paired with some Brie, it's blooming gorgeous.

DH's bday here. We've just had vegan chocolate cake.....hmm, definitely doesn't fall into the blooming gorgeous category

Well no snow here but it is forecast. So I think an outdoor heater, blankets and mittens while Fernando fires up the bbq. Hot chocolate of various kinds are obviously being served.

Take your brie and chutney and put them in a filo pastry parcel, bake for 10 mins and you will have a new level of gorgeous. I do it with mango chutney.

Big event of the day will be taking DD to school for her HPV jab. She'll hopefully get to see some of her friends albeit very briefly.

Well Florence has been busy making filo parcels with various fillings

brie and chutney (mango, pineapple or onion)
spinach and feta
salmon and cream cheese
mushroom and cream cheese

Fernando is making pineapple and mango cocktails.

I wish I could claim the brie and mango chutney parcels as my invention but I first encountered it on a train.

Seems to be heavy snow forecasted for most of us. Is it bad I'm hoping I can't get to work on Monday so I can WFH?

I'm also trying to convinceDS it's still the middle of the night as he was up a few times and he's bitten me when I've tried to feed him so think he's sleepy still but been trying for 30 mins 🤷‍♀️

Yep, looks like we’re going to get some ‘proper’ snow here tomorrow too, very excited!
It’ll be something to break the monotony, although I hope it doesn’t affect the roads as I’m supposed to be getting my COVID vaccination tomorrow.
