The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Morning
How are you today @sashh?
Fruit salad sounds lovely thank you

BaconAndAvocado · 23/01/2021 09:18

Greetings everyone!
I'm on a non fast day today so, is there any honey cake left over from yesterday?

Does anyone have snow? Snowless here, most disappointed!

14yo DS2 has said that he definitely doesn't want to come for a walk with us today....really feel the DCs are pulling away from being seen in public with Mum and Dad. Makes me a bit sad although I can remember feeling the same at that age.

We even tried to bribe him with the promise of chips 😂

sashh · 23/01/2021 10:49

@mogloveseggs

I'm OK today, hope you are too.

@BaconAndAvocado Florence kept some cake for you.

Maybe your 14 your old could go for a walk 5 metres behind you and pretend he is on his own.

Thanks Florence and sassh your suggestion had made me chuckle! It could work.

sashh · 24/01/2021 07:49

Morning all.

There is a light sprinkling of snows o I think we need warming up with a trip to Mexico for huevos rancheros.

@BaconAndAvocado I have a suggestion, get your son to train as a spy by having him follow you. He should be out of sight of you, take an unfamiliar route

He has to photograph you without you seeing and you have to photograph him.

Frownette · 24/01/2021 07:57

Huevos rancheros would be gorgeous 😍

Alas I don't have all the ingredients in, so looks like it will be poached egg with beans and cheese on toast.

BaconAndAvocado · 24/01/2021 09:24

sassh strangely, DD has aspirations to be a spy and is terrifyingly good and hiding and jumping out at me.
Thank you for your suggestion, I will see if DS2 wants to play later.....

Huevos rancheros sound intriguing.

sashh · 24/01/2021 10:06

@BaconAndAvocado

Do you know the game, "Get down Mr/Ms president"?

Basically it starts with someone putting their finger to their ear (like a US secret service agent) , if you see this you put your finger in your ear, when only one person has not notice then you basically pile onto them shouting "get down Mr president!"

MinnieMountain · 24/01/2021 10:26

Huevos rancheros will hit the spot nicely.

It was freezing at the park. I’m now looking out the window waiting for the snow to hit.

mogloveseggs · 24/01/2021 10:31

Morning
I'm good thanks @sashh
I like the sound of that game will store it away for brownies!

BaconAndAvocado · 24/01/2021 10:34

MinnieMountain it’s freezing here too but no snow as yet. Hoping to see some later.

sassh that game sounds fun!

DH just got back from a run......I held the fort at home 😂

sashh · 25/01/2021 03:26

Morning all.

Well it's cold and snowy here so I'm thinking kippers, with butter,

I know not every one likes kippers so there is a range of breads, cheese and fruit.

crazycatlady7 · 25/01/2021 07:06

Morning. Well the sleep through was a treat but now waking in night and getting up even earlier 🤷‍♀️

So cold here. I'm not sure how we are getting DS to childminders as the lanes are frozen snow.

Bread and cheese would be lovely please.

MinnieMountain · 25/01/2021 07:12

Morning all

Kippers please.

I’m taking DS out to play in the snow, so will need it.

BaconAndAvocado · 25/01/2021 09:58

Ohh kippers for me! I haven't had kippers in ages.

It snowed for about 5 minutes yesterday here but didn't settle. Disappointing.

Kids doing their remote learning - Philosophy (DS2 is learning about the soul, very interesting) and English (DD is studying To Kill a Mockingbird)- and I'd better get stuck into sitting the washing out.

LunaHeather · 25/01/2021 10:55

May I join please? Even though I have literally never had kippers?

sashh · 25/01/2021 11:29

Welcome @LunaHeather

Well I have to say I'm surprised at the kipper love, it's something I like but I know not everyone does.

I'm trying to teach Florence to make lamingtons for tomorrow.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 25/01/2021 12:23

We had a decent amount of snow still. The kippers certainly did the trick for the park.

I’ve always liked them. They’re great before a walk too.

We’re learning about 2 shapes now. Philosophy sounds much more interesting but probably a bit difficult for year 2.

I’m going to disengage and look at the petting zoo instead.

Hello @LunaHeather

BaconAndAvocado · 25/01/2021 14:48

MinnieMountain ah Year 2, my favourite year group as a teacher and probably as a parent.
Yes, I don't think I ever taught Philosophy in Year 2, although the way education is going it may be in the pipeline!

I've got a real craving for kippers now....

sashh · 25/01/2021 14:57

If there is a sudden surge in kipper sales I'm taking the credit lol.

BaconAndAvocado · 25/01/2021 19:01

Iceland here we come!

MinnieMountain · 26/01/2021 05:59

I’ve got more chance of going to Iceland the country than getting kippers from Iceland. DH hates the smell.

Anyway, morning all.

Is the coffee machine on?

sashh · 26/01/2021 05:59

Morning all.

Happy Australia day.

Florence has mastered lamingtons, Fernando has an excellent selection of Australian wines, beers and fruit juices.

The kitten bees are wearing sheep costumes and we have a couple of quokkas and a koala in the cafe (too cold outside).

OP posts:
Frownette · 26/01/2021 06:00

Morning. Beer please, and some sunshine.

MinnieMountain · 26/01/2021 06:23

Ahh. They look so sweet.

Can we invite a platypus in too? (DS is obsessed).

Lamingtons seem to go well with coffee.

Sunshine would be amazing right now.
