The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Morning @sashh
Bacon butty sounds perfect thank you!
I'll watch the kitten bees the dc will too Smile

crazycatlady7 · 19/01/2021 08:47

Does the home schooling work for me? To bring my learners in? Would make a day of planning much easier. But IRL I need to dress smart and do my hair as I'm interviewing today.

A bacon sandwich and a large wine would be great!

The kitten bees are amazing! Well done.

sashh · 19/01/2021 10:14

@crazycatlady7 bring your learners in, I'm sure I can add a classroom and small library

Morning all.

Wet and cold again here, Florence has been baking cakes and bread all night so make your selection from madeleines, pain au chocolate, raisin muffins, gateaux etc.

Morning @sashh.

It’s wet here too.

A raisin muffin and coffee for me please.

BaconAndAvocado · 20/01/2021 09:26

Morning all!
Very windy here.
Those pastries sound lush sassh but I’m starting 5:2 today so can only have 500 cals.....tomorrow will be a “normal” day!

DH went back to work today armed with Immodium.

Frownette · 20/01/2021 09:47

Immodium...that stuff works, I took some in March last year
Almond croissant please sashh. Windy and rainy here. I think it's storm Christophe or something like that.

sashh · 20/01/2021 09:50

Good luck with the diet.

I've sort of stumbled into a similar diet, as my arthritis ahs been bad I get meals on wheels 4 times a week.

I find that I'm not eating in the evening after the meal, it must be psychological that roast beef and apple crumble is filling but looking at the packaging they are about 600 calories together.

I'm only loosing small amounts but that's fine because I don't feel I'm on a diet.

Morning all, I had a few good nights sleep with DS for my working days and last night was bad 😢

Definitely need some coffee! Any pastries left? DS and I will pop over to the fire to watch the petting zoo out the window.

MinnieMountain · 21/01/2021 07:05

Morning @crazycatlady7. Lack of sleep is horrible.

I’m having trouble sleeping this week but my day in the office is making me feel positively sprightly.

Pass me your DS for a bit. I’m sure Florence always makes plenty of pastries.

crazycatlady7 · 21/01/2021 07:11

Thank you @MinnieMountain. He should be happier now. Not sure what was up last night, maybe the rain and wind was too loud 🤷‍♀️

sashh · 21/01/2021 07:15

Morning all.

Florence has a new recipe book of German and Austrian pastries so we shall see what she has produced overnight.

Fernando has a selection of fruit smoothies, with and without alcohol.

MinnieMountain · 21/01/2021 13:46

Mmm. Germanic pastries are my favourite type.

sashh · 22/01/2021 03:38

#Morning all.

Another cold day, well it is January.

I think we should theme breakfast around honey, tea with honey, honey cakes, honey ice cream (just in case you want to cool down).

Fernando will be making cocktails with mead.

MinnieMountain · 22/01/2021 07:01

Morning @sashh. You’re up early.

Honey cakes for me. But no honey in my coffee Wink

crazycatlady7 · 22/01/2021 07:47

Honey cake would be amazing

Good morning all. Feeling more human today as we slept through 🎉🎉

It's definitely colder today as frost here. I also miss counted the cockerels when rehoming them and have one left 🤦🏼‍♀️ so need to catch him shouting 😂 and pack him off to the farm. (They are being kept as breeding men- our friend has chickens on her farm and lost her cockerel a while ago- she's got 5 so far from us and another 1 to come)

Any exciting plans in lockdown this weekend? I'm hoping to clean the house and bake with DS. And the weekend tidy up after the storm (my greenhouse fell over again 🤦🏼‍♀️)

sashh · 22/01/2021 08:06

Wow @crazycatlady7 sounds like you are busy.

OP posts:
Frownette · 22/01/2021 08:10

Love the sound of honey cake and coffee, purrlease?

MinnieMountain · 22/01/2021 08:21

Horray @crazycatlady7 (the sleep I mean).

My sleep has completely gone to pot this week. I might start drinking alcohol at home again instead of just in a Fernando special as it evidently makes bugger all difference.

I bought DS some roller skates, so I expect we’ll be spending lots of time on the driveway and at the skate park. MIL is coming over for afternoon tea on Sunday. I’m hoping to have a walk with a colleague tomorrow- the weather was too crap last weekend.

BaconAndAvocado · 22/01/2021 11:26

Morning all 😊
Honey cake??? I'm on a fast day today........how much would a very tiny slither be in calories I wonder?? Sounds so delicious.

Very cold here this morning.
Met a friend yesterday for a bracing walk to the beach and going for a walk on the (golfer-free) golf course later.

DCs have had enough of virtual learning. Bought them some M and S choc chip cookies this morning to cheer them up.
I've carefully wrapped one in foil and hidden eat for me to devour tomorrow.

MinnieMountain · 22/01/2021 11:48

A small piece won’t do any harm @BaconAndAvocado

I’m not counting things I consume in the cafe. I’m doing Dry January really but have had quite a lot of vodka here.

crazycatlady7 · 22/01/2021 11:54

@BaconAndAvocado no calories here and like @MinnieMountain says we drink far too much here 😂 I don't tend to drink IRL as I'm still BF and we sometimes bedshare on rare occasions.

@sashh I like how you think I'm busy. I get DS to help me clean... which makes it harder 😂 but I divide the house up to clean so I don't have as much to do on my days at home. The garden is a different matter 🤦🏼‍♀️

BaconAndAvocado · 22/01/2021 13:47

No calories you say.....I'll have a huge slice please!

Just made a hearty veg soup for the troops, very tasty and low cal.

Frownette · 22/01/2021 14:11

@MinnieMountain oh I am as well, I forget about it except I had a real craving one evening! Luckily it passed.

I might do February and March as well, I need to focus for study, and save money :)

sashh · 23/01/2021 07:40

Morning all

I think it is time for something a little healthier so lets have fruit.

Fruit in smoothies, in yoghurt in cake, obviously fresh to eat on its own.
