The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

@crazycatlady7 my 7yo would happily be cuddled to sleep every night still (we don’t but he normally ends up asking DH to get in his bed at 2am).

crazycatlady7 · 15/01/2021 19:40

@MinnieMountain I love that. I want DS to feel he can snuggle up for as long as he wants. We Bed shared up to 7 months and a bit to 9 months now he hates it.

DH watched the monitor while I went to collect the food, so not a bad day- didn't achieve all the housework tho.

sashh · 16/01/2021 07:04

Morning all.
Well it is very wet here this morning so lets head to Russia for rye bread and sausage, some pancakes and black tea in glasses.

Morning all!

We’ve got snow, so hot chocolate with marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles please Fernando.

DS has a double bed @crazycatlady7. Highly recommend for when extra cuddles are needed.

MinnieMountain · 16/01/2021 07:09

Morning @sashh.

Rye bread and sausage for me please. I always enjoy a sausage for breakfast (no pun intended).

crazycatlady7 · 16/01/2021 07:56

Morning all. Horrid night here and cuddling a sleeping DS.

@MinnieMountain I'm not sure how we will do DS's room. He's in the box room next to ours for now but want to move him into the spare room/ dumping ground but it needs some work doing. A double bed will fit easily so may be a possibility.

Lots of coffee please, and pancakes. How many of us have snow? I haven't looked outside yet

sashh · 16/01/2021 09:44

No snow here, wet though.

BaconAndAvocado · 16/01/2021 10:45

We had snow earlier but the rain has melted it all.

DD is in a massive strop as I didn’t get up early enough to go out in it with her...feel very guilty but, in my defence, I slept in the spare room last night as DH has got a bout of gastroenteritis. He’s starting to feel a bit better today but still has stomach cramps and diarrhoea.
She might start speaking to me again in a week or so........

sassh that Slavic style breakfast sounds perfect. It might tempt DD out of her bedroom too.

sashh · 17/01/2021 05:37

Morning all.

Cold and wet here, the ice rink is melting but is ideal for jumping in o make a splash.

S today we head to Iceland (the country not the shop) for hræringur, skyr and coffee.

The skyr can be plain or with berries, seeds and nuts.

@BaconAndAvocado I can make some dry toast for your DH if he still feels unwell.

OP posts:
crazycatlady7 · 17/01/2021 09:19

Morning. A good night here 🎉 skyr and berries would be amazing please.

We didn't have snow by the time I looked out yesterday so we went puddle splashing- DS loved it, and was his first time walking around the estate himself. Was slow but lovely.

mogloveseggs · 17/01/2021 09:24

Morning
@BaconAndAvocado hope your Dh is better soon!
I've never had skyr so I've ordered a pot on the shopping this week.
Hope everyone's ok?

BaconAndAvocado · 17/01/2021 10:53

Morning everyone!

I’ve always wanted to go to Iceland (the country not the shop!) so the nosh this morning sounds great. Very fresh and purifying. Does the word beginning with h mean berries?

DH still not great. Stomach cramps etc. He’s taking Buscopan and Dioralyte and is starting to eat a little bit now.

It’s cold but sunny here. I’m determined to go for a walk today. Hopefully with DD. dS2 did paper round so he’ll be unlikely to come.

MinnieMountain · 18/01/2021 05:53

Morning all

I’ve popped in for coffee.

sashh · 18/01/2021 06:05

`Morning all.

@Minnie you are here early, I'm glad to see the coffee machine is ready.

I think we should stay north and hop over to Finland for Karelian pie, rye bread, porridge and maybe a tot of vodka.

OP posts:
Frownette · 18/01/2021 06:12

Bacon it looks like the hraeringur stuff is salty porridge.

I'm not sure about what the karelian pie is with the Russian breakfast Confused

Anyway morning all, rocket fuel strength coffee is much appreciated

Frownette · 18/01/2021 06:12

Oops Finnish even

MinnieMountain · 18/01/2021 07:34

DS gets up at 6-6:30, so I often wake myself up early for coffee in bed with the cat @sashh.

The pies sound nice.

I’ve tried skyr- found it a bit odd tbh.

mogloveseggs · 18/01/2021 09:17

Morning
It's a miserable day here.
Vodka sounds good Grin

MinnieMountain · 18/01/2021 09:49

Bloody homeschooling.

I’m going to settle myself by the fire with the kitten bees for a bit.

sashh · 18/01/2021 11:32

@MinnieMountain Home schooling is going well then?

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 18/01/2021 12:42

DS is so stubborn @sashh. Writing and literacy is always an issue.

The “vodka” helped though Grin

mogloveseggs · 18/01/2021 15:35

@MinnieMountain i threw open the door to the Hermes man last Monday and asked if he would like to swap jobs. Last Tuesday he delivered me a parcel in the afternoon and I was still in my dressing gown. "No better today then?" was his greeting Grin

sashh · 19/01/2021 07:02

Morning all.

I've set up a 'home schoolers escape corner' comfy chairs, blankets, cushions and you each get a remote control type keypad with different buttons for different alcohol so you don't need to speak.

As some of you may be curled up with vodka I think we will have breakfast sandwiches, so bacon, egg etc,

The kitten bees have been practicing synchronised flying and I'm sure they would like to show you.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 19/01/2021 07:06

Hmm, Hermes sounds tempting @mogloveseggs. Even though I’d have to learn to drive first Grin

That sounds perfect @sashh. I may be in there some time.

And kitten bee entertainment too!

When do the bumble cats come out of hibernation?

Frownette · 19/01/2021 07:10

It sounds like home schooling is driving everyone bonkers. Thanks sashh, you've just solved my dilemma of what to have for breakfast, egg sandwich it is.

I'll take a virtual vodka too.
