The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Mmm. Delicious @sashh.

I’ll spend the day hunkering down by the fire and nibbling.

IRL I’m in the office. It’s bloody freezing out there.

crazycatlady7 · 07/01/2021 10:29

Yummy! Mind if DS and I snuggle up by the fire? He's being super clingy today and so sleepy. I think two days with the childminder has worn him out.

mogloveseggs · 07/01/2021 14:52

Afternoon! Any Veggie curry left @sashh? Need something to warm me up! Hope everyone's ok?

snowy0wl · 07/01/2021 16:02

Thanks for the tip about online classes @crazycatlady7. I have been taking DD out in her snowsuit and wellies over the past couple of days. Yesterday she spent 5 minutes watching workmen unload a van and today she stared at an AA mechanic fixing a car. I’m starting to view the world with a new pair of eyes.

sashh · 08/01/2021 06:43

Morning all.

IRL some fresh snow here, not deep but staying.

Please don't forget Fernando can give ic skating lessons and we have small skates for the toddlers.

I know this is unusual for breakfast but I think we could do with a variety of soups, nice and warming and anyone working I can put some in a flask.

Florence has made some nice sourdough bread and brioche.

Morning, no snow here. I've booked a National trust garden today to walk round with DS- there isn't anywhere interesting to walk in the village as the roads aren't safe to walk in with the ice and speed cars do, and the estate is 15mins loop. So National trust gardens are good as buggy friendly and DS loves the trees and water there. I'm not sure I'm happy about the minus temperatures 🤷‍♀️ soup would be great to take with us- do you have mushroom?

sashh · 08/01/2021 07:35

Hands over a flask of mushroom soup and some sourdough bread.

I'm doing various vegi soups and the odd fruit one, cherry soup is normally served cold but I think warm for today.

Morning all

Hot cherry soup sounds like it will hit the spot. Is it Polish?

I’ve got DS with me but he can have ice skating lessons to wear him out.

sashh · 08/01/2021 09:59

I have the recipe from a marks and spencer cook book from the 1980s, I don't think it is Polish but it could be.

Morning all, still chilly here but no snow (well a bit in a corner).

As it's a good day to learn to ice skate I'm making jaffles and toasties you can eat outside watching the skating lessons - there is bench and heater out there too so the kitten bees may put on their jumpers and visit the bench - they quite like crumbs so please watch where you put your feet.

Morning @sashh
Wow it is very chilly today isn't it?
Please can I have tea and a cheese toastie to start off?

MinnieMountain · 09/01/2021 07:52

Morning!

It’s frosty alright. I don’t fancy falling over multiple times, so I’ll just watch the lessons.

A cheese and tomato toastie and coffee for me please.

sashh · 09/01/2021 07:55

One tea and a toastie, I'll put the tea in an insulated mug in case you want to drink it outside.

OP posts:
sashh · 09/01/2021 07:58

Hands over another toastie and a coffee, I have some hazelnut syrup if you want some in your coffee.

Thanks @sashh
Irl I'm still in bed well everyone is. I've got the electric blanket on and it's so peaceful. Sainsbury's shop coming at ten though so I'll have to move soon enough.

sashh · 09/01/2021 08:50

@mogloveseggs

LOL I have spent most of lockdown in my PJs.

BaconAndAvocado · 09/01/2021 09:15

Can I join please?

I’m popping in for half an hour. Would love a latte and would like to ask what a jaffle is, sounds intriguing.

No frost here in SE apart from on cars. Disappointed as I love a proper winter.

Are there any cats in today? Our puss died last year so would appreciate some cat company.

mogloveseggs · 09/01/2021 09:39

Hi @BaconAndAvocado
The kitten bees are up and about if you're careful and I can lend you our Eric for a stroke but be aware he dribbles everywhere as he's an old man Grin

snowy0wl · 09/01/2021 10:04

Welcome @BaconAndAvocado. You are welcome to cuddle my cats for a bit. They are particularly partial to cat nip and almost all food, so it is probably best to finish your breakfast first!

A jaffle and cup of tea sounds yummy. @sashh - does Florence fancy making some chocolate croissants for breakfast tomorrow?

@moglovesmincepies - has your shopping arrived? DH covered the early shift with DD and so I’m having a long lie-in. Bliss! :)

BaconAndAvocado · 09/01/2021 10:18

Thanks all ☺️

Still would like to know what a jaffle is..........

MinnieMountain · 09/01/2021 11:01

.

I don’t bring my cat here as she’s a hunter. Not very cuddly either

Chocolate croissants is an excellent idea @snowy0wl.

mogloveseggs · 09/01/2021 11:10

@BaconAndAvocado if my meneory serves me correctly it's an Australian toastie. Is that right @sashh?
@snowy0wl yes it has thanks we had tea and toast and are just about to put it away. I hate that job lol

crazycatlady7 · 09/01/2021 12:15

Tea and a cheese toastie would be amazing. Sounds like you are all having good mornings- we had a midnight play session but DS got up at 7.30 so kind of a lay in. DH has Saturday for his lay in. Tomorrow is mine and I'm looking forward to it!

Also my new oven is in 🎉 so we made croissant for breakfast today IRL. So excited to cook properly for the first time in 2 weeks.

The kitten bees are fantastic company or the chickens don't mind a hug. I just wish DS paid more attention to his chickens IRL as much as the ones here 😂 (he does like a cuddle with them)

*wonders over with DS to watch the ice skating

BaconAndAvocado · 09/01/2021 12:26

Am finally showered and out of my PJs. In RL I’m supposed to be going for a walk with DD but she’s still in bed so we shall see.....

snowy0wl · 09/01/2021 16:41

Fantastic news about your oven @crazycatlady7. It must be a relief to have a fully functioning kitchen again.
