The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

@Frownette I know we can visit caged animals but not our parents 🤷‍♀️ it's mad. But I'm glad they are open and getting some money in. We have membership so it's a nice place to walk

snowy0wl · 04/01/2021 12:06

Afternoon. I giggled at the suggestion that we should put our parents in a zoo! The rules really do seem illogical atm. Thankfully the rules don’t apply at the cafe and so I thought we could bring our parents to the cafe tomorrow so that they can play with the little ones?

It is DH’s first day back at work today and so conversation is limited for me at home. :(

crazycatlady7 · 04/01/2021 14:03

@snowy0wl I did ask my Dad which cage he wanted to be in- my step mother did find it funny! 😂

We had a lovely morning and DS splashed in puddles, saw some of the animals but was more excited to point out trees to us 🤷‍♀️

We are back at work on Wednesday, and I don't work Thursday or Fridays- with no classes it's going to be a long two days with DH at work so feel your pain. I'm signing up to some online activities with DS so that we have some structure and of course lots of walking.

Morning
Glad the zoo was good @crazycatlady7
@Frownette how are you?

sashh · 05/01/2021 07:45

Morning all.

Could someone tell me why there appears to be a cage round the comfy sofas?

well everything seemed to go well yesterday, I'm going to have a coffee and see what happens next

moglovesmincepies · 05/01/2021 07:55

I'm saying nothing @sashh Grin

MinnieMountain · 05/01/2021 07:57

I’ll join you by the fire @sashh. My father’s a grumpy old sod who I wouldn’t inflict on anyone.

snowy0wl · 05/01/2021 09:06

Haha!

Well, my options for entertaining the little one over the next few weeks have been significantly reduced. I think I will hide in the corner of the cafe for a bit and pretend this isn’t happening.....

snowy0wl · 05/01/2021 09:13

Is anyone in the mood for freshly baked popcorn with butter later today?

Frownette · 05/01/2021 09:14

Hey Mog am ok, how are you? How's daughter?

I think I just want a coffee right now but am planning to do fried bananas with maple syrup and vanilla ice cream in a while

Frownette · 05/01/2021 09:15

sashh we have cages, do we? Can we put anyone we like into them? Well, it's a cafe with a twist

moglovesmincepies · 05/01/2021 09:18

Ooh yes please @snowy0wl
@Frownette I'm good thank you. Daughter is ok, touch wood. We're trying to plan for her to see her boyfriend once or twice a week as she's not seeing her dad at all no surprises there. We've made a pact too , she's going to make a good effort re school work as it's her gcse year and she's no mocks now either, and I will make a conscious effort not to nag and stress.

moglovesmincepies · 05/01/2021 09:19

I like caramelised bananas on porridge and I wonder why I'm fat

crazycatlady7 · 05/01/2021 09:32

Morning all!
@snowy0wl I've started following music and baby groups on fb- DS engages a bit with them- maybe this will be useful for your daughter?

@moglovesmincepies my understanding is we can eat what we want in the cafe- it's calorie free? So go for it!

I'm packing up Christmas today ready to return to work tomorrow. 😢 well what is left of the students... will be interesting.

Frownette · 05/01/2021 09:36

@moglovesmincepies I've got the opposite problem, I have a very low white blood cell count and am far too thin. Not in a 'nice' way. I have to pay attention to this as I need to get bigger, but not narrow my arteries by eating too much unhealthy things.

sashh · 05/01/2021 10:24

@moglovesmincepies IRL I'm a teacher, although unable to work due to health problems, so if DD needs help I have taught, in order of amount taught:

Health and Social Care
Computer Science
ICT - I know it's not a GCSE but lots of schools do ECDL
Child care - my least favourite and I'm not that good at it to be honest
Maths - up to GCSE
BSL

if anyone else wants some ideas just ask, although I'm secondary / FE trained.

mogloveseggs · 06/01/2021 05:36

@sashh thank you I might just take you up on that! Wow that's a lot of subjects! Which is your favourite?

@Frownette That must be very difficult. Uo I could try this strongman diet? Although I think your arteries would be stuffed. These guys are bonkers!

@crazycatlady7 oh yes I forgot! reaches for biscuit tin

sashh · 06/01/2021 07:23

@mogloveseggs My favourite is part of health and social care, it's the equality and diversity unit from BTEC L3.

I trained in FE to teach HSC, then I did lots of supply (and found out I quite like younger teenagers) then trained to teach Comp Sci in schools

Back to the cafe

Morning all, I've set up a few desks, PCs and learning resources if you want to bring any children for a bit of home ed.

mogloveseggs · 06/01/2021 09:30

Thanks @sashh I think we will join you for a change of scene.
Irl I need to go to IKEA-finally managed to find a desk in stock for Dd. Shes had my kitchen table in her room for 2 months!

MinnieMountain · 06/01/2021 10:16

Morning all

It’s so nice to be working again.

I’ve popped in for coffee. And do I smell bacon?

I’ll bring DS on Friday. Apologies in advance- he’s a bit of a chatterbox.

sashh · 06/01/2021 11:02

I'm sure there is bacon @MinnieMountain the larder is so huge it crosses a time zone.

crazycatlady7 · 06/01/2021 11:14

I'm back at work- working from home today. I think I'm having information overload already- I'm in today and then off till Monday.

Is there any muffins? I feel I need a sugar hit! And I need caffeine.... or at least think I do. 😂

DS is at the childminders today so maybe I can pop back for lunch and relax for a bit.

sashh · 07/01/2021 06:19

Morning all.

Well it's a bit foggy and very cold here so lets have some Indian breads, samosas and salted yoghurt.

So puris, paratha, chapattis, dhosas, various chutneys and a bit of vegi curry.
