Life Changing Cleaning - Why Didn't I Know?

I can't believe I didn't know about rubber brooms before now! No word of a lie, it has changed my life - picks up dog fur from the stairs better than any hoover. My carpet is like new. This, after spending £s on Dyson. Anyone else got any brilliant cleaning tips?

Talking of Bar Keepers Friend. Does anyone find that the cream cleaner separates after a few weeks and won't be mix again even after vigorous shaking?

Because of this I now have the powder as I find the spray is pretty useless.

So tonight my 8 and 11 year old dragged all the dog hair off the carpet with the rubber broom and the squeegee and then cleaned all the skirting boards for me. 😂

@Flatpackback

Ajax and Vim ? Crikey, not seen those since the 70s, are they really still available?
We used to use Gumption when I was a kid. The tin was quite squat and round, and it was a bit grey and lumpy. I think I may identify as a tin of gumption

Ratched · 27/11/2020 12:17

This Bar Keepers Friend - do I want spray, liquid, powder....? Which one?

Ddot · 27/11/2020 13:07

Sineine said the powder is the best

Ddot · 27/11/2020 13:07

Someone not what ever that was

Ddot · 27/11/2020 22:20

Filtration soil remover for dark marks around carpets. Its caused by drafts apparently. Not tried any product yet but I'm on Google trying to decide which one to buy

Ddot · 27/11/2020 22:39

Carpevitam
Found this on net, I'm going to investigate.

Rubber gloves with the brush bits on them for grooming pets. Works a treat in corners and on the stairs.

Cilit bang mould spray on hair dye stains. Blew my tiny mind

Thermo · 27/11/2020 22:45

Do the rubber brooms work on cat hair.

MiddleClassMother · 27/11/2020 22:50

Yes they do @Thermo
They're brilliant!

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 27/11/2020 22:54

Yes they do Thermo

And better than any hoover I’ve used

Thermo · 27/11/2020 23:03

Thank you! I remember wanting to buy one and then I think I got really ill and forgot!

slothy · 28/11/2020 06:12

Brick acid left overnight (or as long as possible) and a scrub with a brush

slothy · 28/11/2020 06:13

For toilets where bleach hasn’t worked!

TikTakTikTak · 28/11/2020 08:11

The e cloth mop went out of stock at Dunelm thanks to this thread! Stupid me for dithering. It's back in stock now and ready to be collected Grin

peridito · 28/11/2020 09:13

@Ddot interesting .Filtration soil .Now we have a name for it .

You must let us know how you get on .
I wonder if the products advertised to deal with it work better than washing up liquid ?

Ddot · 28/11/2020 11:32

It's not normal muck is it, I think it's from under floor boards and old homes seem to be more susceptible

Ddot · 28/11/2020 11:35

Drafty old rickety homes like mine

Ddot · 28/11/2020 16:34

I've ordered ( Prochem ) filter out, from Ebay fingers crossed it works

nevernotstruggling · 28/11/2020 18:19

Has anyone wrecked their dyson stick? Any wisdom for that?

goose1964 · 28/11/2020 18:23

You know how hard it to get dust out of corners, a razor cleaning brush works wonders.

Ddot · 28/11/2020 18:49

nevernotstruggling
clean filters, check for blockages if that dont work go to Dyson website for trouble shooting
