Good things about Biden?

Aside that he isn't Trump?

I'm very happy the orange misogynist has lost, but haven't heard or read a single good policy or reason to be excited about Biden.

Anyone who knows more and is excited about a Biden win not just a Trump loss, please could you come on and explain why?

OP posts:

He's not Trump
He's planning to get started on tackling Coronavirus
He is planning to rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement

mammmamia · 07/11/2020 20:04

All of the above as far as I can see. He will reverse some of Trumps decisions. He hopefully will exercise some professionalism and restraint and won’t almost start a world war on Twitter.
He has an impressive VP waiting in the wings.

ISeeTheLight · 07/11/2020 20:04

He's a centrist and apparently managed to get things through the senate during Obama's presidency by reaching out and working with republicans. Given how polarised the country is I'd say that's a massive positive.

He's of Irish descent and a Catholic who has been clear he won't be signing up to a trade deal that destabilises Ireland.

Toilenstripes · 07/11/2020 20:09

He’s experienced great personal suffering.

mammmamia · 07/11/2020 20:10

He seems to be pretty far away from the misogynist. Raised his boys after his wife and daughter were killed in a car crash as he was joining the Senate. Left Washington at a decent hour so he could get the Amtrack home to be with them. I can’t imagine how difficult and unexpected this must have been for a man in the 1970s. Or maybe it’s just spin. I don’t know.

Calligraphy572 · 07/11/2020 20:10

Kamala Harris

He will defend Daca and the ACA

No more children ripped from parents in Ice facilities

No more of the feckin Wall

PicsInRed · 07/11/2020 20:12

He needs to rebuild bridges so may be less hostile to a trade deal with an independent UK than he may otherwise have been.

Also very fond of women and girls.

Hotchocolatesforeveryone · 07/11/2020 20:14

He's Irish

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel · 07/11/2020 20:14

He's qualified for the job. Agree with his policies or not he has given his life to public service and has a huge amount of experience.

Plus he's not a racist, sexist, divisive hateful man like Trump

OxanaVorontsova · 07/11/2020 20:15

this anti apartheid speech

Rainbowqueeen · 07/11/2020 20:20

He will appoint talented experienced people to key positions in his administration, not his family and he will listen to them.

His tax plan is to raise the taxes for people who earn more than 400,000 dollars ie the wealthy
He will listen to health professionals on covid
He believes in climate change
He and Obama are great friends not just colleagues
Other world leaders don’t see him as a total joke

Bluemooninmyeyes1 · 07/11/2020 20:23

He’s a democrat, he’s progressive in his views, he supports diversity, he chose a woman of colour as the first ever Vice President, he cares about climate change, he takes mask wearing and covid seriously and he has repeatedly said that he won’t support any trade agreements between the US and the UK unless the good Friday agreement is protected (he has Irish heritage).

nocoolnamesleft · 07/11/2020 20:23

He's not Trump.
He believes Coronavirus is a problem.
He's not Trump.
He believes climate change is a problem.
He's not Trump.
He's a made a good choice for VP.
He's not Trump.
He believes in working with the world.
He's not Trump.

Coffeeandcocopops · 07/11/2020 20:25

He isn’t Trump. That’s all that needs to be said.

Mumtumwobble · 07/11/2020 20:26

He has said that he wants to appoint a wide range of different people to his team - different genders, different religions, different ethnicities, LBGT+ etc etc so that a wide range of society is represented. So not just rich white men.

Purplecatshopaholic · 07/11/2020 20:28

He’s not Trump is absolutely not all that needs to be said. I frequently hear we (not me!) picked Boris because he wasn’t Corbyn. Well that worked out well didn’t it.....

Derelictwreck · 07/11/2020 20:28

He's also been accused of sexual harassment and assault though.

Leagues better than trumpet but not a silver bullet

Cosmos123 · 07/11/2020 20:30

Respects women, different religions and ethnicities.
Has experienced personal tragedy which makes him more empathetic.
Does not come from privilege.
Is anti brexit.
Brings a glimmer of hope in the World.

Tavannach · 07/11/2020 20:30

Obama rates him and I trust his judgment.

KittCat · 07/11/2020 20:32

Yes intelligent, calm and measured...everything Trump isn't basically.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 07/11/2020 20:33

What does this mean for Ireland? Biden won't sign a trade deal that threatens the good friday agreement? Is that it?

Daisy829 · 07/11/2020 20:34

He won’t use social media to start hate. He won’t act like a petulant child. He might not be perfect but Trump has done so much damage to his own country in 4 years, I believe Biden is a much better option although I think he’s got his work cut out.

OddHoleySocks · 07/11/2020 20:34

He’s not Trump is absolutely not all that needs to be said

I today agree. For example, Harvey Weinsten isn't Trump either...
