Does your washing machine go on on a weekly basis??
I'm a single mum to a two year old and it's been on 6 times this week already!
Dread to think how many times it'd be on if I had a husband too!

Six times last week I mean ☺️

Probably 5/6 times a week, we are a family of 4 with both kids in school

haba · 19/10/2020 15:02

One wash a day, every day- two adults, two children practically the size of adults.
I sometimes struggle when they've had games, and towels need doing too...but I have no extra drying space, so it's tough.

Fridgeandkitchen · 19/10/2020 15:02

Family of 3. Weekly I do

2 x bedding washes

1 x hot towel wash

1 x white wash

2 x dark washes

That’s a usual week.

Floralnomad · 19/10/2020 15:02

3 adults here and I do about 9/10 washes per week but that includes 2 lots of king size bedding . When adult ds is home as well you can add another 3/4 washes at least .

movingonup20 · 19/10/2020 15:02

On its third time today but unusual, I had a backlog and overnight visitor meant extra linen wash - so darks, lights and linen, plus need to do our bedding later this week when it's looking dry enough as we don't have a tumble dryer, I'm sitting in a house full of damp washing on racks, radiators, backs of chairs and hopefully an almost dry line full. Typically 2 -3 times a week, two people

PatchworkElmer · 19/10/2020 15:04

At least once a day. Family of 3, DH and I both exercise regularly so there’s normally some kind of fitness gear that needs a wash each day. Plus ‘normal’ clothes, towel and bedding washes, shoes and coats inevitably gets covered in mud at the park...

zafferana · 19/10/2020 15:04

About 10 I reckon for me, DH and two school-age DC.

3 x bedding wash
1 x towels wash
2 x whites
2 x darks
2 x sports kit

homemadecommunistrussia · 19/10/2020 15:05

Maybe 6 times there are 3 of us all adults now. Shock
Then an extra couple of times when student dd comes home.

Chocolatehobnob9 · 19/10/2020 15:05

I did do towels, and bedding on Saturday and Sunday. My little one is full time at nursery too so I'm greeted daily by nappy bags of unclean clothes!!!

I do all of my laundry in one day so one week. So 1 week I have 3 washes and the following I have 4 washes
-lights (every week)
-darks (every week)
-Towels / tea towels (every week)
-bedding (every second week)

kittykat35 · 19/10/2020 15:06

Forgot to say we are a family of 4

HeeeeyDuggee · 19/10/2020 15:08

Family of 5 here with 2 under 2

We do at least 1 wash a day and then bath mats and towels 2x a week and bedding 1 times a week.

I reckon 10 minimum which doesn’t seem a huge amount to me Blush

WoodenFox · 19/10/2020 15:11

Minimum twice a day. 2 adults, one DC, 3 dogs whose bedding is washed daily.

MonkeyPuddle · 19/10/2020 15:14

Fuck me you lot have the washer on a lot. We’re a family of 3, DP, me and toddler. Soon to be joined baby baby.
I do 3 loads a week max. Sheets one week, towels the next. The other two are clothes/tea towels.

Kokosrieksts · 19/10/2020 15:33

2 adults and a toddler and it’s 7-9 times a week and still there is always a pile in the laundry basket and I can’t get round to washing things like my winter coat.
I think more people secretly live here.

Kaiserin · 19/10/2020 15:34

Used to be at least once a day when our 2 kids were babies!
Now it's more like 2 or 3 times a week (one midweek, usually for towels and tea towels, and two at the weekend, mostly because we wash the whites separately)

When I was a single young adult living on my own, it was more like once every two weeks! (and only because I was running out of clean pants, not because the machine was full)

kittykat35 · 19/10/2020 15:35

I think the key is a larger machine I wouldn't have less than 10kg

SausageRoll2020 · 19/10/2020 15:35

5 washes ordinarily, 1 each of the following
Lights
Darks
Lingerie
Towels
Bedding

Chocolatehobnob9 · 19/10/2020 15:36

@Kokosrieksts lol I feel like that too.. No matter how much washing I do.. I still have more washing to do.

mindutopia · 19/10/2020 15:37

There's 4 of us, one in school uniforms, so can be twice the washing on a given day. I would say we do about 5 washes a week. Though to be fair dh doesn't wash his work or non-work clothes very often, so it's more like 3 of us, plus ocassionally I might wash a thing or two for him in a normal wash (he otherwise would do all his own washing because I'm not the housekeeper, but generally he might only do maybe 2 washes a month).

AriettyHomily · 19/10/2020 15:37

8 or 10

Kids are older so their clothes take up more space, they do gymnastics and are wearing new uniform every day.

Towels and bedding aren't done by us so that would be at least another couple.

FourTeaFallOut · 19/10/2020 15:38

About ten loads, 9kg washing machine and five people in the house.

joystir59 · 19/10/2020 15:38

Approx 4 washes a week. That's two adults and a dog.
1 bedding wash
1 whites or towels
2 mixed cool washes.
Every once in a while the dogs blankets and towels will add another 2 washes.

QueenofLean · 19/10/2020 15:39

Family of 5... I’d say 10 times a week. School uniforms, ballet clothes, swimming stuff, gymnastics stuff, mine and DH’s gym clothes on top of the normal clothes/nightwear/bedding/towels etc.
