Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news THE SEQUEL

This is the one where the news remains dull, and all the irons you bought in the last thread have developed limescale.

I had a slice of toast and now I feel a bit sick. It must be because I am low carbing. The toast was worth it though,it was slightly cold and hard so the butter went on the way it used to in a 1990s B&B.

I ordered a wheelbarrow. It came today.

We took DDogs to the beach before the crowds arrived.

We're home now.

Purplequalitystreet · 31/08/2020 09:26

I just had to order some big toddler crayons online because I couldn't find them in the shops

Weenurse · 31/08/2020 09:55

DD2 is cooking pasta bake and garlic bread for dinner.
She grated carrots and zucchini into it so we get some veg.
DD1 tells me she is a legend, something to do with her thesis, I just nodded.

lachy · 31/08/2020 09:58

We're going to look at sheds.

I mean, the excitement! I don't think I'll be able to contain myself.

AnneBoleynsHead · 31/08/2020 10:15

Yeseterday I should have gone for a run but couldn't as asked to babysit. Today I could have gone but can't be bothered. I am drinking coffee & eating leftover pizza instead.
I will mop the floor at some point.

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 31/08/2020 10:49

My lovely neighbour just bought me over some tulip bulbs. Weirdly I was talking to DM yesterday and she asked if I was going to plant tulips this year (DH has just redone both front and back gardens) and I said no, I don’t think so now we will be.

PenguinsOnParade · 31/08/2020 12:18

I just made perfectly poached eggs for my lunch and I'm about to eat the last Tunnocks teacake which I had been hiding in the fridge.

moleeye · 31/08/2020 12:43

Went to a friends 40th last night, I'm so hungover I can't see.

The kids had a hot cross bun, Pringles and blueberries for lunch. I'm such a bad parent 🙈

firecracker69 · 31/08/2020 13:06

I've just paired up my two new Alexa Echo speakers. My surround sound is now defunct. I've just instructed her to turn up, full volume to drown out the multitude of children and adults fucking about, loudly by my front garden. Unfortunately, Alexa isn't skilled enough to disguise the stench of cigarette smoke drifting through my window.....

WouldBeGood · 31/08/2020 13:10

I put my broken bin out this morning and got a shiny new one back, not just the lid they’d promised me.

Spudlet · 31/08/2020 13:13

I baked a fruitcake this morning, but the top caught a bit. Hoping it won’t be too dry. If it is, we may have to put some butter on it and call it a fruit loaf Blush

I now have focaccia in the oven - first time I’ve ever made it. I did the dough in the bread machine. Fingers crossed it turns out ok! Hope the suspense isn’t too much for this thread Grin

QuestionableMouse · 31/08/2020 13:32

I've just had a row with my mam over something stupid but she was really nasty and now I feel sad.

MitziK · 31/08/2020 13:34

There are men riding up a hill in the rain today. One has a beard. Apparently, this goes on for about a month.

I've cooked Beetroot in the steamer today. They're going to become soup for dinner tonight.

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/08/2020 13:37

Tried to book a doctor's appointment but only got the automated ooh message. I'd forgotten it's a bank holiday.

CMOTDibbler · 31/08/2020 14:05

We were going to have coffee and cake while walking the dogs, but the queues were massive, so we didn't.

We're going to assemble ds's new bed in a bit

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 31/08/2020 14:38

I've lost steam halfway through reading some minutes I'm supposed to sign off.

I'm baking some buns instead. I thought I'd do lemon but it wouldn't grate, so they're now going to be coconut and the lemon will be chopped up and frozen to go in G&Ts.

Mitzi - I feel like I missed something. Are you watching the Tour de France (or similar) or do you live by a big hill and have real life MAMILS passing you by?
MitziK · 31/08/2020 15:00

It's the TdF on television for the benefit of DP. It's less offensive to my ears and eyes than sodding Nightrider. He finds my total ignorance of the event and occasional questions quaintly charming, apparently.

If I had real life MAMILs twatting past my window, I'd have set up a sniper post in the attic by now. Which would be far too exciting for this thread. We do get a vintage car rally go by the end of the road once a year which I have occasionally looked at through the bedroom window whilst drinking a coffee, though. The smell of the steam powered vehicles is quite nice.

The bin men have just been. On a Bank holiday, no less. I think they might have taken the cardboard recycling this week.

forgetthehousework · 31/08/2020 15:21

@ladybird69 I use Charles Worthington UltraViolet shampoo every week and leave it on for twenty minutes, my grey/white hair is now a lovely lilacy blue. It took three or four goes to see any effect, then people started commenting on the colour so I knew it was working (nice comments ....)

SpeedofaSloth · 31/08/2020 15:27

I am hemming DS' new school trousers. Thankfully DD doesn't like school trousers, as I don't like hemming them.

FabulouslyFab · 31/08/2020 15:28

I’ve been to Keswick and had a half price lunch curtesy of Boris. It wasn’t very busy.

I use Fudge on my silver/white hair, it's really good.

My news; I had Heinz tomato soup for my lunch, it's my go-to when I'm in work. As my furlough ends this week I thought I would get back into the habit.

I don't really like tinned food like spaghetti but unaccountably I do like tomato soup.

ThatDamnScientist · 31/08/2020 15:33

I am about to hopefully begin some voluntary work references willing (I've been out of work for a long time as a carer). It's super dull for everyone else but exciting for me.

Oh and I have just learnt the meaning of anachronism (first time I've ever heard it Blush)

Spudlet · 31/08/2020 15:36

Baking update - all successful! The cake is quite crumbly but it tastes good and isn’t dry. The bread is lovely.

Feeling well smug.

TheMShip · 31/08/2020 15:38

I tossed about half a dozen frozen bananas that no one was going to use into the food waste. DD used to love them but turns her nose up now.
