This is the one where the news remains dull, and all the irons you bought in the last thread have developed limescale.

I had a slice of toast and now I feel a bit sick. It must be because I am low carbing. The toast was worth it though,it was slightly cold and hard so the butter went on the way it used to in a 1990s B&B.

I ordered a wheelbarrow. It came today.

I’ve gone deaf in my left ear Sad Any recommendations for ear drops please? I used to use olive oil, but it makes such an awful mess Sad

Borka · 30/08/2020 07:46

I use Otex, it makes your ear fizz weirdly but usually works well.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 30/08/2020 07:49

I use Otex too.

Opened a new pack of Malted Milk biscuits. At least two thirds of them are broken. I can't dunk broken biscuits and am now sulking Sad

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/08/2020 08:08

Came back from the cats - feeling better now.

mathanxiety · 30/08/2020 08:09

We finally finished the curry I made last Tuesday. I'll make it again in about two weeks. Having tortellini again tomorrow, with bolognese sauce I made and froze last weekend.

A cold front passed through last night, so no more almost 40 degree temps - probably until next August. Time to get the hoover out as we have a serious buildup of fur from the cat after a week of atrociously hot and humid weather.

And I found a blue chicken at a second hand shop this evening, to go with my collection of hen and chick related tchotchkes on the kitchen window sill. Callooh callay, etc.

Weirdly, @Spudlet, DD3 told me on Thursday that she thought she was going deaf. This is obviously a problem. Luckily I had a kit consisting of a bottle of carbamide peroxide and a bulb syringe, which I used last year for DD4. I used ten drops for DD3's ear, because from past experience with her ears I suspected she would need the full whack. After ten minutes of the noise of pop rocks in her left ear she got off the couch to go to the bathroom for the irrigating part of the operation and banged her head off the sitting room door frame because she was holding her head to one side - oops-a-daisy! I filled the bulb syringe from a bowl in the bathroom and squirted warm water into her ear probably 8-10 times. We couldn't believe the amount of gunk that came out Shock.
Apparently you can use hydrogen peroxide too, or baby oil or mineral oil. All of these soften up the wax, and then you squirt warm water in. You could use a medicine syringe/measure for the squirting too.

I feel the pace of this thread is hotting up. Here to change that.

I thought about having my usual boiled egg this morning but had a fried egg instead.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/08/2020 08:27

Thank you for calming me down!

DH is back to work in his office and the DC are still asleep and will be for some time.
I think I'll do my Duolingo now.

Morfin · 30/08/2020 08:29

I went to make myself a coffee but then decided on tea. It was a mistake.

littlecatfeet · 30/08/2020 08:37

I cleared out some kitchen cabinets and put a chipped teacup in my 'to the tip' box.

Husband fished it out and said he wanted to keep it as a measure for flour. We already have a measuring cup in the flour bin.

rosegoldwatcher · 30/08/2020 08:39

@Morfin - Three spoonsful is about right.

I was hopeful with the first, in denial at the second and silently swearing on the third.
It put me right off the lovely french stick that accompanied the soup pizza sauce.

DH, when he came home, confirmed that he had finished the lovely soup the day before.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/08/2020 09:27

The house phone is ringing. I expect it will stop soon.

WouldBeGood · 30/08/2020 09:34

In bed debating whether to have coffee, which involves getting up but I would really like, or tea which DS could make for me.

CrunchyNutNC · 30/08/2020 09:40

@littlecatfeet

It would be a shame if you dropped it now. Especially onto a very hard surface. Wink

Mr Tesco is due to arrive soon.

I have had a bagel with honey and banana for breakfast.

And apparently I am a prophet as Mr Tesco has just this second arrived as I was typing. Phew, bit too exciting I know.

PenguinsOnParade · 30/08/2020 10:23

I slept really well for the second night in a row and this time I wasn't woken by a bad dream.

FeltCarrot · 30/08/2020 10:53

I couldn’t decide whether to have one crumpet with jam and one with marmite.

I had both with jam.

EggyPegg · 30/08/2020 11:04

I'm still in bed. I'm considering getting up, making tea and breakfast and bringing them back to bed to watch the Downton Abbey movie.

Blingismything · 30/08/2020 11:08

I have just deleted many items from my 'buy it later' list on Amazon. I may have just added a linen skirt that I don't need to my M&S basket. I am listening to a feature about the success of the 2012 London Olympics on Radio 4.

Blingismything · 30/08/2020 11:10

I also booked a slot for the tip on Tuesday.

steakhousesally · 30/08/2020 11:15

The washing line looks like a mini Pride fest as I have washed all of the bright clothes.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/08/2020 11:23

I filling out the forms for our version of child benefit, as DS turns 18 and I now have to give proof of fulltime education.

We will have oven vegetables with Köfte for our main meal today.

EggyPegg · 30/08/2020 11:28

I have just cancelled my razor delivery subscription after the handle broke and reading the reviews tells me that it's a common problem, not a one off.

CulturallyAppropriatedName · 30/08/2020 11:30

I popped out to the dairy for a top up shop and we have all had toasted teacakes for breakfast as a result.
Need to put my walking shoes on now and take the dog out.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/08/2020 11:45

I’ve just been to the tip. I feel cleansed now
