Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news THE SEQUEL

This is the one where the news remains dull, and all the irons you bought in the last thread have developed limescale.

I had a slice of toast and now I feel a bit sick. It must be because I am low carbing. The toast was worth it though,it was slightly cold and hard so the butter went on the way it used to in a 1990s B&B.

I ordered a wheelbarrow. It came today.

I'm wearing my new fluffy socks (pink, blue and white stripes).

SpeedofaSloth · 29/08/2020 18:45

I did the laundry sort and now have lots of odd socks. I also have a bag of tat for recycling.

PenguinsOnParade · 29/08/2020 18:49

I washed school uniforms this afternoon panicking they wouldn't be dry for school only to realise today isn't Sunday so there's plenty of time for them to dry tomorrow.

Only youngest DC and me at home so ordered a takeaway for us.

If you are in England they won't be going in on Monday either. Hope you are not because that might be too much of a shock for you and this thread.

Window cleaner came yesterday. Today a bird has done a six inch massive shit down my glass back door.

I'm in Scotland, they've been back since the 12th here. Wink

@lachy

My husband is usually the miserable tightwad when it comes to the heating. It's been on twice this week and both times it was him. I was surprisingly not cold for once. However, I slob around in long pyjama bottoms and a hoodie, he likes shorts and t-shirts. Still, I don't complain when it goes on.

rosegoldwatcher · 29/08/2020 19:20

I defrosted some homemade tomato soup for my lunch. It looked more red than usual.

A few spoonfuls in I decided that it was really pizza sauce (mainly pulverised tinned tomatoes.)
As a soup is was inedible.

EggyPegg · 29/08/2020 19:22

I'm catching up on Four in a Bed and agog at this first b&b that's charging £350 a night for tiny (smaller than DS1s double bedroom) double bedrooms that are stuck in that horrible orange and brown hotel period. So I looked it up on Bookings.com and found that they have clearly recently refurbished them as the colour palette is now an on trend grey, white and yellow (which I like, but will date just like the orange and brown of the 80s), and I can get a room for £71 a night.

On Four in a Bed, their reasoning was that it was London, and those are London prices. Not for what you're offering they aren't!

Guessing they've had a reality check since filming.

Frokni · 29/08/2020 19:25

We just ordered Mcdonalds for dinner. We plan to watch Joker tonight.

TokyoSushi · 29/08/2020 21:35

Apologies for being a bit too exciting earlier! Grin

How about: I've just cleared out half of my wardrobe, and can't be bothered to do the other half!

SilenceOfThePrams · 29/08/2020 21:54

I have a black pudding sausage roll.

I got the scrubbing brush out earlier, because the kitchen floor is unbearably sticky. But then I spilt a Yakult all over it. And when I mopped it up with kitchen roll, it had taken the stickiness with it. So now I don’t need to. Hurray.

lborgia · 29/08/2020 21:56

@EggyPegg - I hope you've shared your good news of a weekend alone on the other thread.

Turns out I'm not the only one suffering because they haven't had the house to themselves for 6 months.

I've just woken up at 6am, after a lonely night out, and can't get back to sleep. I think I might watch a film. This feels reckless for a morning, but I don't expect anyone to need anything for at least 1.5 hours.

I do need to put on a load of washing through.

lborgia · 29/08/2020 21:57

LOVELY night out..

EggyPegg · 29/08/2020 22:00

What other thread?

In related news, I've been so idle on the sofa today that my legs hurt from staying in the same position too much, and my elbow continues to hurt as a result of the epic blanket I'm crocheting (that I had another 8 balls arrive this morning for)

Morfin · 29/08/2020 22:16

Few, so at least three... At which point did you realise it wasn't soup.
FunnysInLaJardin · 29/08/2020 22:30

It's been really cold here today. Apparently the coldest august bank holiday on record, which is a bit shit

FabulouslyFab · 29/08/2020 22:37

I’m wearing bed socks tonight

lborgia · 29/08/2020 22:40

@EggyPegg - that would be [https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4008447-Being-in-the-presence-of-your-spouse-All-Buggering-Day this thread]

@Lazysundayafternoons - ah, that sounds very sensible. And satisfying.

lborgia · 29/08/2020 22:41

THIS ONE!

ViciousJackdaw · 29/08/2020 22:51

It's supposed to be a good drying day tomorrow.

lucylocketspockets · 29/08/2020 23:03

The laundry is on the line ready and waiting.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/08/2020 07:11

My laundry is dry and ready to be taken down.

Back to work tommorrow - 9 years to go.
It's usually quite interesting watching the people who actually do sth do it (I am admin / assistence), but with new technology available - I can't really see a future for this type of job.... And I never wanted to do this in the first place.

Deathraystare · 30/08/2020 07:22

I am wearing my black trousers that have a hole on the inner thigh (I tried to sew it up but as my mum often told me, it is almost impossible to see when sewing a black object, so I feel a bit of a draught, plus the waist bit is loose so I keep having to hoick my trousers up. Luckily I am wearing a dress/tunic thingy with them, so you don't see the hole.

I wouldn't care but | made the effort to buy already threaded needles from Sainsburys because I cannot thread a needle for love nor money and those blasted metal things that are supposed to help you are sooo flimsey!

^Tokyo Sushi* - That's better!!!!

Borka · 30/08/2020 07:32

I can't decide whether to move an old mattress that's 'temporarily' being stored in front of the radiator so I can put the heating on.

DS is about to get stroppy because something he's trying to do on his laptop isn't working.
