What is the most unusual street or road name you have seen? If you live on a street with an unusual name do people comment on it?

"Chemistry" in Whitchurch (Cheshire) is a favourite of mine!

There's a small road called Electric Parade near me. I keep thinking that it should be full of neon signs.

Clitterhouse Road in North London always makes me smile

eurochick · 25/08/2020 14:04

There is a Jackass Lane round here.

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 25/08/2020 14:05

There’s a Milky Way in Hull, Butt Lane in Leeds and Dick Lane in Bradford.

DeRigueurMortis · 25/08/2020 14:08

Belvoir Street in Hull - pronounced Beaver Street

letsgomaths · 25/08/2020 14:09

In London, there's Ha Ha Lane, and Bird in Bush Road. And the famous Electric Avenue in Brixton (site of Brixton Market).

I used to live in Man Fuk Road in Hong Kong.

@CatBatCat

Part of the ring road in Derby is called Lara Croft Way
Deliberately named as the character was created by a software company that was located close by.
Panticles · 25/08/2020 14:30

Unthank Road Norwich

@ImaSababa

My favourite is Fuk On Road in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong has a Man Fuk Road, King Fuk Street and Wan King Path.

My favourite is the curious sounding Rednaxela Terrace though. Accidentally transcribed from right to left instead of left to right.

KingsHeathen · 25/08/2020 14:37

We have a Bell End.
We have a World's End lane too, which really isn't though it is at the edge of the city.

ilovethesmellofthesea · 25/08/2020 14:38

Cock lane in Smithfield. Leather lane and love lane also in the city. There are some villages sort of near my parents called Nether Wallop, Upper Wallop and Middle Wallop. Grin

South Yorks police HQ is on Letsby Avenue.

Is that true? That's fantastic!!

hollyandkit · 25/08/2020 14:54

There's a Cheers Drive in Bristol (named after your parting shot to Brizzle bus drivers)

JumpingFrogs · 25/08/2020 14:55

There's a Shaggy Calf Lane in Slough Smile

Crinkledbeetroot · 25/08/2020 14:58

My friend lives on a new housing estate on Filter Bed Way. It makes me think of a sewage treatment works!

I used to go to school nearby. It's the one that's surrounded by roads named after other places isn't it? Pennine drive/Mendip drive/Wessex Gardens etc. Then Childs Hill & Fortune Green with Agamemnon way. It's a cornucopia of weird street names.
Hedgesfullofbirds · 25/08/2020 20:06

I live on a little single track road called 'Cuckolds Row' - no idea how it came by its name - and I used to live in a little hamlet named 'Cowroast'

icouldwriteabook · 25/08/2020 20:07

I was in knaresborough (north west) the other week and actually saw ‘Avenue close’ made us laugh

missmouse101 · 25/08/2020 20:09

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 25/08/2020 20:17

Near me there was a “Wildgoose Chase”.....but after a few years they changed it to something like “Wildgoose Avenue” as the residents and the post office had loads of problems getting things delivered.

DH and I used to live in the amazing Strawberry Bank Parade
