I'm divorcing DH soon and hoping to just change my name to something I like. I've been saddled with his since the age of 18 Smile

What's your favourite surname? I think I might go with 'Knight'

Bloom

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 24/08/2020 00:49

Fernsby. It used to be moderately common in the UK, it's now basically died out. If I ever changed my surname, this would be it.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 24/08/2020 01:00

My friend is a Rainbow, and I work with a woman who got divorced and chose the surname Christmas. I like them both.

I always liked Cherry, Mountcastle, and Moriarty.

NC4Now · 24/08/2020 01:05

I’ve got Baskerville in my family tree. That’s pretty cool.

loubieloo4 · 24/08/2020 01:17

My name sound lovely with Hamilton and Windsor! If ever I need to change it will be one of those, never thought about it before!

I like Knight op

JaJaDingDong · 24/08/2020 01:27

Fox of Knight

Lillygolightly · 24/08/2020 01:33

De Souza, it’s just so cool sounding!!

Also like Mc names like McKenna and other names like Wolfe, Wilde, Winters, Grey, Fox....you know the sort of names that conjure up an image of an object/feeling/animal etc

namechange8765433 · 24/08/2020 01:36

How about Wild with its feminist connotations?

I can't find anything online about this but it's something I know from experience because of course the Wild children live on.

All I can find is this:

RAOK · 24/08/2020 01:43

Hamilton is good.

mangoandraspberries · 24/08/2020 01:48

I have a friend who is a Midwinter - always really liked that one

blisstwins · 24/08/2020 01:50

One of my friends has the last name Hartmann. I love that name because it is strong and gentle at the same time. Other friends are named Gross and Roach--SUCH BAD NAMES even though they are lovely people from nice families.

blisstwins · 24/08/2020 01:52

Given the context though I think I like "Strong" for a surname.

SantanaBinLorry · 24/08/2020 02:05

Mine is my favorite surname. Its rare and cute. You cant have it i'm afraid - would be too outing ;)

I'd go with Knight-Rider, thats fucking ace!

That’s nice. I have a friend who is Dove, love that.
EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 24/08/2020 08:50

Oooh this is so exciting for you op! I think I'd go for something exotic sounding, I like Lopez but it wouldn't go with my first name lol.

NC4Now · 24/08/2020 09:03

Dove is lovely!

minnieok · 24/08/2020 09:05

I would look at your family tree, bound to be a name you like

Imgladimnotyourchild · 24/08/2020 09:10

Macintosh

NeverTwerkNaked · 24/08/2020 09:49

@PercyKirke my brother's gardener had the surname Digweed Grin

Sally99 · 24/08/2020 10:01

I've always thought Money-Coutts one of the most amazing surnames. I'm not saying I'd want it as it certainly implies that the person is loaded!

FineWithWine · 24/08/2020 12:12

I love O’Brien, O’Hara and O’Reilly. Although they are obviously Irish. I used to work with a nurse who had one of those surnames and every elderly patient felt the need to ask where in Ireland her family were from (even with her Essex accent)!

Kiire · 24/08/2020 12:16

I know a Bear which I always think is a great one Grin
