Does your name have a song associated with it?

Do people sing it to you?

I have a name that has at least two songs associated with it. One less known than the other but I have occasionally had someone sing it to me. As a child I regularly had someone sing more famous song to me but now I, thankfully, rarely have to experience that. It's more irritating than infuriating but I don't understand why people do it.

Yep! A cringe Elton John song that involves waking up...

hollyandkit · 16/08/2020 21:04

Always nice to find someone else who comes and gives without taking (ooer) RaspberryRuff

KeeefBurtain · 16/08/2020 21:04

BikeTyson · 16/08/2020 21:05

I’ve just googled and found 3 more songs with my name that I’ve never heard before. I might make a playlist Grin

ALongHardWinter · 16/08/2020 21:06

I can think of 3 songs that have my name in. None of them are terribly well known though so I've never had anyone sing them to me. My Dd,on the other hand,has a her name in a very well known song and has often had people start spouting it at her!

Gilead · 16/08/2020 21:06

Two, one in the sixties, one in the eighties. Fortunately doesn’t seem to happen so much now.

Peachypips78 · 16/08/2020 21:09

I was named 'Joanna' after the Scott Walker song.

cricketmum84 · 16/08/2020 21:10

@hollyandkit please tell me your name is copa cabana 😂😂

NDSandG · 16/08/2020 21:14

Both my first and middle name have songs associated with them. I’m a sweet heartbreaker😁 No-one has ever sang them to me unfortunately.

FlippinNoah · 16/08/2020 21:14

Yes there's a song with my full name in it! Had 2 people sing it to me

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 16/08/2020 21:14

LemonBars I knew you would have the same name as me!!

Fuckinellitsme · 16/08/2020 21:17

My name features in the title of a well known song by a band whose singer/guitarist had something of a signature headwear look in the 80s. It's actually a beautiful song, unlike most of the band's output - they've something of a naff reputation, particularly if you lived through the 80s as I did.

I was born in the 70s however and I'm not named after the song, rather the play of the same name. DH's friends have christened him with the corresponding nickname.

hollyandkit · 16/08/2020 21:17

cricketmum84 - yep, busted! Grin

hartof · 16/08/2020 21:18

Also have a name from beautiful south song for whoever. And a song about freckles which I have never heard apart from the people who sing it to me!

RaspberryRuff · 16/08/2020 21:18

I am loving trying to guess these

hartof · 16/08/2020 21:20

I also have a daughter that has a famous song with her name in. Possibly about living next door to her 🤔

grey12 · 16/08/2020 21:21

Super popular kids song in Portugal. EVERY SINGLE PERSON thought they were the first to have the idea to sing the song to me. Envy I hated it! But I was so little that I didn't really understand frustration so the only thing I could do was to hide behind my mum.

My name is also on several other songs. In english as well. Had a university lecturer sing to me as well! Beat that! He was a cool guy though.

Sunbird24 · 16/08/2020 21:25

Spelled correctly I’m a saint or a serpentine seductress, but the more we’ll-known song has a different spelling...

Bluntasduck · 16/08/2020 21:28

@Fuckinellitsme

A Dire Straits song?

CaptainMyCaptain · 16/08/2020 21:28

@hartof

I think I know that one. Was it also a song by Donovan in the 60s?
CallSignCharlie · 16/08/2020 21:28

@Izzabellasasperella

My Dad used to sing mine to me. It's from the 60s so not very well known now. Sad song.
We could be name twins . Is it about a fatal car accident? My dad used to sing it to me too !!
mumsiedarlingrevolta · 16/08/2020 21:28

yes but it's a leonard cohen song so hoping not. DH had it played at our wedding and I have never seen a dance floor cleared more quickly

DD a very old sort of american cowboy song that I think she is blissfuly unaware of

Bluntasduck · 16/08/2020 21:29

Mines a Fleetwood Mac song. No one has ever sung it to me but it's actually really relevant to my life

soupmaker · 16/08/2020 21:31

Yes. It gets sung at me on a regular basis. Was released in 1977 when I was at primary school. Kids with older siblings or dads into punk would sing it at me in the playground. I love it and my own kids think it's really cool. I've even been known to wear the bands t-shirts on occasion!

hartof · 16/08/2020 21:32

@CaptainMyCaptain no I believe it is the hollies! I've just had a google
