Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

He will no problems eating rice krispies , dry dog and cat food , he will also try to eat their wet food too but it will give him tummy ache .
The only type of thing he wont always pick up are very flat / smooth things like foil milk bottle tops, some coins etc ,
Unless your chair legs are very delicate he wont do them any harm .

ChoccyJules · 13/09/2020 00:32

Thanks, that’s good to know.

Do people generally think the app/Alexa option is worth the extra money?

I dont have a alexa, but even if I did have knowing what I know now I wouldnt bother .
I have a very basic model the 11s , it can do a
normal clean ,
turbo clean ,
spot clean,
edge clean ,
it can be programmed to come on at the same time everyday
( a slight irk , it would be nice if it could be programmed to come on a bit later at weekend ) but you can stop and start it manually via the remote control or is power button .
I dont know what the apps offer but I cant see it making that much difference

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/09/2020 02:14

I don’t think the app/Alexa is a dealbreaker. I use the app to schedule cleans (with the G30 you can set a different time each day) and to see a map of where he’s been, for my own amusement. Though we’ve paired him with Alexa I’ve never actually used Alexa to get him going or to stop him or send him to bed.

I need to copy the previous poster who has stuck eyes on hers!!

Okay, so 15C Max came yesterday. Seems to do hardwood floors okay but it's a bit random in covering the area. However, there cropped up a number of issues:

  1. He failed miserably to clean the large rug in the front room. It's short pile, quite densely packed. We put it on IQ Boost as the rug lies on a wooden floor but no success. The noise of the vacuum didn't change from rug to wooden floor. Is it supposed to whilst on IQ Boost? The only way to clean the rug at all was to do the circle spot clean. It's not a dirty rug to be honest and as this uses so much power, didn't want to do the whole 8ft by 7ft rug like this.
  1. It lost its legs a number of times so we had to keep checking it still had them on
  1. It loved to clean under the sofa - so much so that I would say at least half of the time it remained under there so not good really
  1. The fan button on the upper right side of the remote does nothing - Is it supposed to?

Can anyone help before I return it?

Snozzlemaid · 13/09/2020 11:23

Not sure about the rug issue. Is it the brushes that are coming off? I didn't push ours on fully at first so this happened. But once clipped on properly they don't come off now.
The fan button should change the suction strength. It will start on one, push the button and it should beep twice and suck stronger, push it again and it should beep three times for maximum suck. Push it again and it will go back to one and minimum suck.

cakemeupbeforeyougogo · 13/09/2020 13:33

Thanks Snozzle. Have done what you suggest and so far so good. Fingers crossed.

Bridecilla · 13/09/2020 16:30

Dobby is braving my bedroom for the first time. I've been up twice to empty it so far - disgusting what he's picking up!

ChoccyJules · 14/09/2020 09:10

Cracked at midnight and ordered a 11SMax. Haven’t told DH yet. More excited than I should be!

Now wondering where best site for docking station will be...

eufycurious · 14/09/2020 09:23

Can Eufy be used if you don't have a smartphone or a tablet or Alexa or Google Assistant?

I am not hugely into tecjh and only have a laptop and a basic mobile! Blush

Also, is he safe on parquet floors?

AmandaHoldensLips · 14/09/2020 09:32

Well that's done it.

I woke up feeling a bit miserable this morning and now I've accidentally gone and ordered a Robovac 30. It was 100 quid off, so 159.99 and I thought sod it.

TrickyD · 14/09/2020 09:34

Yes, he comes with a handheld remote control.
Should be fine on parquet.

Thanks @TrickyD. Very tempted!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/09/2020 11:52

I’m getting so many texts now from my Eufy. He got himself stuck between the door and the dyson. I don’t know how he managed that. He’s telling me is sensors need cleaning as he is hanging over an edge. He is nothing of the sort. He’s so attention seeking lately. I’m cleaning his litter tray, cleaning his brush, cleaning his filter.

That all said, he’s still fabulous. He works well upstairs and goes under beds and comes out with a full tray. I’m shocked really because they dyson was obviously crap if Eufy is finding all this dirt.

I need to change the time he’s out working, I had set him to 7.30pm but he’s a bit disruptive at that time of night.

bananamonkey · 14/09/2020 12:34

This one Amanda? We got this one on this offer:

AlCalavicci · 14/09/2020 12:40

@eufycurious
( love the name ! )
No you don't need any other tech for 11s ( not too sure with the others ) I don't have any at all and he works fine . And will gobble up all the dust bunnies on your parquet flooring without causing any damage.
@AmandaHoldensLipsthat's very good value grab it while you can .
@DobbyTheHouseElk
We're you not warned of his rampant mating tendencies, mine humps the cats scratching pole regularly !Grin

cakemeupbeforeyougogo · 14/09/2020 12:42

We've called ours 'Bert the Dirt'.

ChoccyJules · 14/09/2020 18:24

I know the thread is a month old and you’re all so over it but my dude has been despatched !

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 14/09/2020 18:42

@ChoccyJules I’ll never be over it! Welcome to the Eufy club!

We need spiky little badges, like Eufy’s whiskers, to wear so we can spot each other.
