Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

Ours arrives tomorrow. Oh the excitement!

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 30/08/2020 17:14

Second date tomorrow and yes ordered his own Eufy.

I still LOVE mine. He is the best thing ever. Only thing I’ve found is that when he does the stone tiles in the bathroom, his little brushes basically polish the floor and make it super slippery! I could just shut the bathroom door I guess

So we like the robovac, it's generally pretty cool - we mainly have wood floors with rugs and the one area it's struggling with a bit is the two rugs with tassels. The Eufy guide says to fold them under, but if you do that it thinks it's a high edge and won't go over it. If you leave them out, it tends to pull the edge of the rug with it. Any advice (apart from replace all tasselly rugs!)?

Topsy44 · 30/08/2020 19:36

Mine arrived a few days ago and I am totally in love.

oooooh.....I so want one.......is it a step too far I wonder !!!!!!
Bridecilla · 30/08/2020 20:04

I've finally caved. Ours is coming tomorrow. Bought him using my 'beer tokens' saved by not going out!

We have a shaggy ikea rug in the living room. Will I need to shift it / roll it up?

I roll mine up @Bridecilla

Like mosscarpet I am sorely tempted, but they only seem available in the US. Probably just as well.

I want a lady bird cover! !

For tassly rugs I would just pick him up and put him on it and drive him around with the remit then roll it up

I've been following the thread with interest as I've had my eye on a fancy roomba for a while but couldn't justify the cost

The 15c Max is £189.99 right now @mosscarpet

I think that's a great price

AlCalavicci · 31/08/2020 08:19

Oooh grab that while you can , that's a very good price

MotherFeeder · 31/08/2020 09:07

Thank you, I have!! Arrives tomorrow squuuueeeeee

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 31/08/2020 09:23

S/he’s out for delivery 😁

AlCalavicci · 31/08/2020 09:25

Start clearing the wires away and shifting big things out of his way. They come part charged so you can start playing getting some cleaning done straight away

CodenameLevonelle · 31/08/2020 09:29

I had a Roomba years ago and loved it but when it died I never replaced it. Thinking of going down the Eufy route but I'm a tad confused about which one to buy. I'm not bothered about it connecting to my phone (mainly because I'm not clever enough to work that sort of thing out). I just need it to crack on once a day on a mix of low pile carpet, vinyl and tiled floors and a semi thick rug. Advice from experienced parents appreciated!

Parkandride · 31/08/2020 09:36

I've not bothered linking mine to my phone @codenameLevonelle and it still works fine manually, so if you see a good price I wouldn't worry about that part

Currently enjoying breakfast and the papers while he's cleaning the living room, I love it!

AlCalavicci · 31/08/2020 09:39

I have the 11s , it coped well with hard and carpet floors and small ( 1.5 cm ish ) lips .
It doesn't come with boundary strips but you can buy them after if you want them . No phone connection.

oooh that is a great price. I already caved though and went for the 30c max at 209. should have waited a couple of weeks, cause I dont really need the boundary strips LOL oh well!!
CodenameLevonelle · 31/08/2020 09:47

How do the boundary strips work? Do you just lay them down where you don't want them to go eg top of the stairs? My roomba had a little laser unit that stood against the skirting and sent a beam so it didn't go where it shouldn't

the 11 is the basic model that doesnt connect to an app, and usually the cheapest. If you want to do carpets too you might want to go for the 11s MAX as it has slightly better suction. However, having said that the 15CMAX (next model up, can connect to app)is currently on offer on amazon and is actually now cheaper than the 11s max, so you could go for that , you dont have to connect to the app,

you dont need them for the top of stairs cause he has drop sensors. Bu yes, with the strips I think you just stick them down to form a barrier where you dont want him to go.
TrickyD · 31/08/2020 10:09

He is very sensible about not going down steps.

However he did get into our dropped doormat’s den, and couldn’t climb out. It has a metal strip round it so we stuck the strips to that.

The sticky bits which come with him are not much good so we used some Command strips.

I am annoyed with myself for not realising the boundary strips can be used either way up. I put the grey side on top because that’s the way it unrolled. The black would have blended in better.

AlCalavicci · 31/08/2020 10:31

Yep he won't throw himself down the stairs , though it may make your heart stop the 1st time you watch him get close to it !
If you ( like me ) dont have the strips a heavyish snake draught excluder will keep him out of no go areas.

CodenameLevonelle · 31/08/2020 10:40

Thanks all! Very helpful
