Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

Mine has just arrived and been turned on for the first time! He didn't even need a charge. The cat isn't massively keen but less scared than the usual vacuum. I only have two questions. Firstly I'm finding it really difficult to connect using the app. my phone is a Motorola and has issues with lots of things like this. is it worth bothering? Second question what should I call him? Our cats are Starsky and Hutch but I don't fancy calling him Huggy Bear.

snaxinyourslacks · 28/08/2020 12:26

Mine runs at 6.30am during the week and 7.30am on the weekends. I live in a bungalow and he is a bit noisy on the hard floors so he goes on when our alarm goes off. Occasionally I send him round during the day to do the mopping (I have the hybrid one)

AlCalavicci · 28/08/2020 12:39

Nine goes round at 8.30 pm every day but I am thinking if changing it to a bit earlier as I am fed up of him trying to vac my toes while I am cooking .

I got one last week. I can't believe how much I love it. Would totally recommend

I am giving my Eufy (not yet named as I don't want to get too attached Grin) a chance. I think I have been surprised that it isn't as clever as I thought. I thought it would 'learn' the house and clean in a logical manner rather than the very random cleaning it does, although my bad as I didn't check this. I thought there would be some way of putting a plan of your house in so it could follow something. So I've been disappointed as I expected too much, for me it's very basic.

I have realised that I need to adjust how I use it. I need to shut it in rooms and let it work otherwise it randomly moves around and nothing gets cleaned properly. There is no way, with the battery power, it would clean my house downstairs in one charge with randomness so I need to set it off regularly and do smaller bursts.

One thing I would say, and my DD commented unprompted, is that it does clean better than my Miele, the floors are clearly much cleaner [smmile].

TrickyD · 28/08/2020 14:53

brakethree how long does he last on one charge? Someone up thread had a problem, talked to Eufy and is being sent a new battery.

You could try putting a plan of your house in his little bin, he might read it.

@brakethree I've found the spiral and edge functions useful. My landing tends to have quite a lot of fur in the middle from where my cat sits on it, another rooms the dirt seems to go to the edge especially on hardwood floors.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 28/08/2020 16:27

I 've just had Daisy zooming round downstairs while I walked the dog this morning and then I mopped. In the past I would hoover with the old hoover and mop and would have soooooo much animal hair on mop (have black dog and black and white cat and all wood floors) but when Daisy did it this morning there was almost no hair at all on the mop-absolutely brilliant!! I was so surprised-am so pleased with her!!

Pashazade · 28/08/2020 16:57

Lurking I'm thinking Magnum or Chips or go for an English one, oh wait I know Bergerac! 🤣🤣

tootyfruitypickle · 28/08/2020 17:25

I'm sooo close to getting one of these, enjoying all the names ! DD and I are definitely doing eyelashes and googly eyes, currently discussing names!

AlCalavicci · 28/08/2020 18:53

@brakethree
It does take a while to get use to the random way they clean , I believe some of the more expensive >>whispers Romba

Pashazade · 28/08/2020 19:11

@AlCalavicci or Marple, sits there unassumingly in the corner and then tidies away all the criminals dust whilst you weren't paying attention!

AlCalavicci · 28/08/2020 19:31

@Pashazade, Marple may well either do some knitting or unravelled and eat you knitting while looking for criminals Grin

And you have just reminded me i had a crush on John Nettles for a long time Blush

Lurkingforawhile · 28/08/2020 19:40

Thanks for name ideas - I was going for Lewis, inspired by Morse, but I have two close colleagues called Lewis so maybe not. Instead he will be Ted, after Ted Hastings who is always searching for dirty coppers. And I will just have to hope that Ted isn't H.

Decentsalnotime · 28/08/2020 20:23

Anyone coming on and getting a bit bamboozled by all the name talk....

From someone who hasn’t named her eufy and won’t! It really is a brilliant product. 15c max here. I don’t think you’ll regret it if you came on here thinking about it

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 28/08/2020 20:26

Do you want to hear something funny?
I've been on a first date today. Within about 15 minutes he mentioned something about vacuuming (cant remember why) and I mentioned I don't vacuum anymore as I have a robot. Well, his eyes lit up! We literally spoke for about 30 minutes about Rupert Bam Bam! He said he wanted one as he lives alone and he was going to get a Dyson handheld for spot cleaning as he loathes getting out the big Dyson but likes to vacuum daily. Anyway, he's just text to ask for a second date and to tell me he's ordered a Eufy!

Win win all around :)

nessnessness · 28/08/2020 20:50

Haha, another Guffy! Mine is Guffy too and I chat to him as well 🤣🤣

TrickyD · 28/08/2020 21:19

LivingMyBestLife2020, what a lovely story! Maybe if your relationship progresses you can introduce the Eufys, they might mate and produce dolls’ house sized babies.

Lurkingforawhile, yes also hoping he isn’t H. Looking forward to the new series.

We joked about a Eufy baby. Would be just right to do the stairs!

AlCalavicci · 29/08/2020 10:30

@LivingMyBestLife2020
Please can I put my name down for one of the 1st litter , I would love a baby Eufy to clean the stairs

The thought of them having babies made me instantly think of the 1980s film No Batteries Required when the to little spaceship / robots have babies , I love that film .

Fishfingersandwichplease · 29/08/2020 14:50

Mine 11s max has arrived!! Love it already!! Cat isn't a fan but sure they will learn to tolerate each other!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 29/08/2020 21:56

Eagerly awaiting some birthday amazon vouchers so I can buy a Eufy! DH thinks I’ve gone mad

Parkandride · 30/08/2020 11:56

I love that date story @LivingMyBestLife2020 Grin

Its been a few days now and I love him! DH is very fond too despite his initial scepticism. We've tended to limit his areas by shutting doors as the dog isn't a fan and this seems to get a good clean. I love emptying him and tending his little bristles too, and the fact he fits under all the furniture is amazing. Big fan!
