Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

Inspired by this thread and always looking for ways to get out of housework I purchased and received my Eufy 15c max yesterday. I was sooo excited but am feeling distinctly underwhelmed - is there something wrong with me Sad.

I have set him off twice now. The edge cleaning was good but otherwise he is just very very random, goes all over the place, frequently in one place. There is no backwards and forwards which is what I expected . I have quite big rooms and without a back and forward I cant' see with randomness how he could clean in one go. So am I missing something? does he know which bits he's done? On top of this I have some terracota tiles and he doesn't seem to pick up very well off this floor, bits left etc. I might have to send him back Sad.

After reading this thread, I caved and brought a 30C one yesterday, arriving tomorrow. I am sooo excited!! Have 2 cats and seem to be forever seeing cat hair. No more I hope!

TrickyD · 26/08/2020 12:48

Brakethree, we definitely don’t get any backwards and forwards, we get random meandering, but left to himself he seems to cover everywhere eventually. We also have big rooms but he copes nicely in his vague sort way.

Right, we've gone for it - a 30c is on its way. DH and I both hate hoovering so hoping this will be a game changer. Mostly wood floors and rugs, plus 1 dog and 1 child - we live rurally so bits of stuff do get tracked in regularly, let's see how it copes! Thanks to all for the dog hair advice.

Glitterbiscuits · 26/08/2020 13:27

One is arriving here today!
How long will I need to charge it before I play use it?

ThePug · 26/08/2020 13:35

Good to see so much Eufy love! We’ve had ours 3 months now and still love it.

I don’t know why they made the models so complicated to work our though! Basically, if you want best suction (2000pa) but not bothered by boundary strips get the 15C Max and if you want boundary strips get the 30C Max. The 15c and 30c are just less powerful versions (1500 pa) with/without boundary strips. Everything else is identical as far as I could tell.

Ours is called Betty, names by my 4 year old.

magnarocks · 26/08/2020 13:44

Off work sick, and now decided after reading this thread that I MUST have one of these. Trying to persuade OH. 🤞🏻

mommybear1 · 26/08/2020 14:18

Thanks @TrickyD I think I may have a faulty battery Confused I've enquired with Eufy direct (very helpful) so Alfred has to go back for a replacement - Alfred 2 😁.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 26/08/2020 14:26

@brakethree have you done all the set up/remote control etc?
Daisy the kitchen maid hoovered the whole downstairs while I did other tidying (Yoga)
It was so nice to just have her zoom round and she did very good job.
I find it so endearing that she puts herself on the charger when done!
Big hit here!

TheForkOfDoom · 26/08/2020 15:06

i jumped in and bought a Eufy thanks to you lot, and he’s brilliant, I love him (mine is definitely a boy). But now I really really really want a robot lawnmower as well.

Glitterbiscuits · 26/08/2020 15:52

Dave is here!
He's now charging.
I wanted to give him/ her an exotic nickname but teen DS set it up and named him without asking.

Aldi have one on the special buys atm!

A bit of a daft but could you fit castors to the legs , it would lift up the sofa and make it easier for the DCs to move.
( you could use ones with brakes if safety is a issue )[/quote]
I don't think the style would suit castors, and having had them on a previous sofa I wasn't impressed with the durability. I'm not having to raise these ones much though so I think a small pieces of wood cut to match the bottom of the foot and stained a similar colour will be do the job.

I just can't see how the playroom sofabed can realistically be raised though, and I've just paid to have the curtains shortened to finish in the gap between the top of the sofa and the windowsill (after only 3.5 years of the sofa being there) and raising the sofa would eliminate that gap!
I'm going to try the strips on the underneath edge of the sofa - I got the 30c max on the offer that ended Sunday because it was cheaper than the 15c max but I didn't think needed the boundary strips, so it would be good if they do work.

For anyone who is interested it would appear that the boundary strips DO NOT work when attached to underneath the bottom edge of the furniture.
They DO work when stuck on the floor but don't look great, so think I need a better solution here.

So I'm sold on a Eufy, but was wondering how it gets on with pets. My dog hates the vacuum and I'm wondering if I would only be able to use the eufy when she was out for her walks. Is it solid enough to survive a smallish nut job of a dog??

Graffitiqueen · 26/08/2020 17:42

@chasingsquirrels could you pull the carpet backa nd stick the strips under it?

Potentially, but I never find they are fitted as well once you lift them so don't really want to. Definately something I'm considering if I can't think of a better option.

We have a robot lawnmower called Murry. We love him.
TimeTruthandHearts · 26/08/2020 17:57

We haven't bothered sticking the strips down as we've quite a lot of rooms where we use her (I don't mean a stately home Grin just the strips wouldn't be long enough to use everywhere we'd need them).

We cut the strips into lengths and slap them on the side of the fridge to store them, then just throw them down before she does her stuff.

Chasingsquirrels · 26/08/2020 18:34

I stuck the strips down a bit under the sofa to try, but wouldn't want them there permanently and don't want to have to put them down every time.
Can't think of anywhere else I'd want to exclude it from - the utility (where the dog sleeps) has a stair gate so it can't get in there.

Having raised the lounge sofas slightly I've put the docking station under the sofa so you don't even know it's there 🙂.

TrickyD · 26/08/2020 18:40

notanotherpothole, Eufy is very quiet, especially on carpet. More of a gentle hum than a roar. Should survive a strong nudge from a dog.

He's here and he's beautiful! Hope he charges quickly

I assume I don't have to have the app? my phone is so cluttered. Happy for him to just do his thing and I've got the remote if I need to boss him about

TrickyD · 28/08/2020 10:19

How are you getting on, Parkandride?
Ours was 3/4 full again this morning. Where does it all come from?

OP posts:
Chasingsquirrels · 28/08/2020 10:50

What schedule are people using?
Mine is set for 2.30am every day, so I don't see it. I'm going to have to remember to empty it regularly once the novelty wears off.

Ds2 came back from a week at his dad's yesterday and asked why the sofas have got flannel under the feet (haven't got round to a permanent solution yet) and was very impressed and wanted to drive it around. Neither Ds1 (also back from a few days away) nor DP (here Wednesday evening) appeared to notice!

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 28/08/2020 11:39

Ours goes round at 11am every day, but once he's charged we've been sending him round in the evening too because he's full every time! You'll know if you've not emptied him –our threw dust bunnies everywhere in a temper when he was full but still trying to clean.
