Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

Mine lives in the space next to the chair. Today he dragged his docking station under the chair for his nap!

Aw, that’s so sweet.

AlCalavicci · 24/08/2020 21:22

@whiskyremorse
You can buy (very ) sticky back Velcro you could stick it down .

I love my Eufy but why does he always want to vac the bit of floor that I am stood on . He ran over my bare toe and it hurt !

Are they noisy? I'm hovering over buying one!

No not really.
DobbyTheHouseElk · 24/08/2020 21:41

Not noisy. On carpets almost no sounds. More on hard floor, but not much.

chillychicken · 24/08/2020 21:43

I’ve got quite thick carpets downstairs, will it struggle?

I really want one!

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 24/08/2020 21:46

@chillychicken they have different settings for different floors. My upstairs carpets are new and are quite dense. My Miele really struggles on them but Rupert is awesome!

SuperFairy · 24/08/2020 21:54

Right all, I’m now intrigued!

Not for me but for my mum, she is very partially sighted and when I popped to her flat at the weekend I noticed that in general her carpets looked great but in the corners and where doors meet their frames there was lots of dust, obviously not her fault but she just can’t see where the dust and dirt is. Bless her she spends a lot of time cleaning and repeat cleaning because she can’t see the dirt and is paranoid that she’s not getting all the dirt up with her routine.

Would one of these pets suit her? Can they get into corners and along edges or do you all still need to do these with a big standard vacuum and edging attachment?

She’s tech savvy so could cope with the app etc, she’s just vision compromised (her term not mine!)

SuperFairy · 24/08/2020 21:55

Bog standard not big standard 😆

Fishfingersandwichplease · 24/08/2020 22:47

I just ordered an 11s max!! V excited!!

Champagneforeveryone · 24/08/2020 22:49

We have stuck our docking station down with Velcro as The Dogs of War pushed it all about the place too.

I also pick up the mats when he's off on a jolly, otherwise he gets all in a tizzy over them.

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 25/08/2020 00:15

Good idea with the Velcro. I will do that

AlCalavicci · 25/08/2020 04:02

@SuperFairy
He dose edges well on standard mode but he also has edge mode so he will go eound and do just the edges & corners of the room.
He gets onto corners fairly well to , but perhaps misses about 2 inches so every now and then ( about once a month) I use a stiff brush to sweep the dust into his reach.
You can buy him longer brushes arms so he can reach better.

AlCalavicci · 25/08/2020 04:05

Does he can't dose edges with medicen Confused

whiskyremorse · 25/08/2020 07:24

Thanks Al, I will look out for velcro for my mats. But they need replacing really so perhaps a different kind will suit him better.

AlCalavicci · 25/08/2020 07:40

Good heavens I need to proof read !

@whiskyremorse do you actually need mats now if Eufy is going to zip round every day ? I have got a cheep car mat at my front and back door Eufy takes them for a walk round the house sometimes Confused

TrickyD · 25/08/2020 07:55

The little fella has done his morning round and DH reports that his litter tray was only half full. Maybe we are getting to the bottom of the dust at last.

I’ve been thinking about getting a robot vacuum for awhile. I’m out of action at the moment with a broken leg & having read all your posts, it seemed like the ideal time to get one.

I took the plunge & ordered a Eufy 30C Max. Mrs Overall arrived yesterday 😀

mosscarpet · 25/08/2020 08:02

Have to say the novelty hasnt worn off yet. Dobby (highly un-original name, but hey - blame the kids)is amazing. My floors have looked good for 3 whole days, which is unheard of in this house. No dog hair anywhere. Grin

You won’t regret it.

The dust box is gruesome. Be prepared!!!!

@MrsK
Welcome to our world , please make sure you feed and exercise him regualy but don't give him any drinks , they will make him poorly . Grin

russetred · 25/08/2020 08:46

How is it on dog hair? We have a mix of wood floors and rugs. Internet says the 11S would be suitable, any thoughts? Thanks.

TrickyD · 25/08/2020 08:47

We are starting to need a ‘Eufy Owners’ Club’ like the ones for Bentleys and similar, or at least a ‘Eufy Corner’ on MN. If the Sporners can have one......

I’m still in love with mine. My house smells fresher I think too. It may well be In my mind but he picks up so much much dust, it’s got to be a healthier environment
