Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

@TrickyD
Oooh I like the idea of that , I was considering getting mine some eyes but now I may get him a Merc car badge , aerial and exhaust pipe 🚘 🤣

After reading this thread I very quickly and easily managed to convince DH that we need one (who promptly googled for this thread to read it himself Grin). Our 30C max arrived yesterday and I love it. The dust compartment is gross, can't believe we lived with all this despite hoovering regularly with a Dyson Envy

I overheard DH talking to it this morning like a pet Grin

TimeTruthandHearts · 25/08/2020 09:50

@russetred

How is it on dog hair? We have a mix of wood floors and rugs. Internet says the 11S would be suitable, any thoughts? Thanks.
Our 30C is brilliant with dog hair.

We've realised this past fortnight that prior to Euphegenia's arrival our home was, in fact, 89% spaniel.

So jealous mine is sat in the box and it's going to be at least a couple more weeks before I have room to unbox it, haven't thought of a name yet!

Champagneforeveryone · 25/08/2020 11:12

Ours is amazing on dog hair, but does need his roller de-haired regularly or he pushes it halfheartedly round the floor instead.

lurkingattheback · 25/08/2020 11:29

After finding this thread, ours is coming today! 30c max from Amazon, missed the best deal on Eufy. Very excited. Thanks for the recommendations all.

MrsK · 25/08/2020 17:06

@Dobby @AlCalavicci, Thank you, it’s fascinating watching Mrs Overall hoover while I rest my damaged leg.

mosscarpet · 25/08/2020 18:18

re dog hair - I went for the 30c max as we have 3 dogs and and 2 cats, (plus 4 dd with long hair LOL) and it is amazing. I do dehair his little roller every time, but that is sooo easy to do.
from my research the difference between the models is as follows:
11 s initial model, doesn't work with app/alexa
15 c next model up, works with app/alexa
15 c max - as for 15 c, with greater suction
30c - as for 15 c, but with boundary strips
30c max as for 30 c but better suction

G models - more fancy, possibly mop too...didnt really look at thesse!!

I love my Dobby (30 c max)sooooo much!!

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 25/08/2020 20:11

Rupert Bam Bam ventured under my bed today. It was 6 months since I had new carpets so it’s not been done since then... I went out and he fell asleep when he was done. Unfortunately, he fell asleep in the far corner and I couldn’t reach him 😂

When I finally retrieved him, his dust tray was full! 😳

Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?
Crazydogmumma · 25/08/2020 20:20

@mosscarpet- thank you
That is really helpful. Now need to wait to see if there are any offers on the 30c max.

LizB62A · 25/08/2020 20:21

I'm calling mine Goofy
He's doing a good job so far, apart from when he cries when he gets stuck on the landing.
Today I forgot to plug his docking station in - when I finally remembered about it poor little Goofy dragged himself over there sooo slowly, he was exhausted !!

SuperFairy · 25/08/2020 20:56
@SuperFairy
He dose edges well on standard mode but he also has edge mode so he will go eound and do just the edges & corners of the room.
He gets onto corners fairly well to , but perhaps misses about 2 inches so every now and then ( about once a month) I use a stiff brush to sweep the dust into his reach.
You can buy him longer brushes arms so he can reach better.
Thank you, definitely something to consider!

@LivingMyBestLife2020

I’m still in love with mine. My house smells fresher I think too. It may well be In my mind but he picks up so much much dust, it’s got to be a healthier environment
Same for me. House feels amazing and fresh. He's still picking up a LOT of dirt and cat hair every day.

I'm in love with him!

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 25/08/2020 23:25

Wow @Champagneforeveryone that was a bargain price! I took the plunge and am already in love. And horrified at what we’ve been living in. We’ve sent him round multiple times already and he’s returned full every time. We’re taking bets on how many times he’ll come back full. The dog is yet to ride him like the internet suggests he would, but we have hope!

ChoccyJules · 26/08/2020 00:37

Do people think he would manage to eat hay? As in bits kicked out of cage by guinea pigs or dropped en route by children when feeding them?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/08/2020 06:57

I think he would eat hay. You might have to clean his feet a bit more. Sometimes string and bits get wrapped around. But depends how long the hay is.

Chasingsquirrels · 26/08/2020 07:32

It appears, despite measuring once and thinking it would go under then measuring again and deciding it wouldn't, that under my sofas are EXACTLY eufy height and it goes under them and gets stuck more times than appears to be randomly possible.

I think I could raise the lounge sofas (weirdly the matching chair appears to be fine, I suppose it is just age sagging) very slightly either with those plastic spikey carpet savers (although they aren't round legs and might not fit) or (more likely) some little bits of wood which won't be noticeable. But the playroom one is a corner sofa bed and the back sides sit along the floor with feet on the front only and I don't think raising it is workable.

I don't want the boundary strips along the floor as they will be noticeable, but wonder if I could put them along the underneath of the front edges of the sofa - the instructions say on the same plane as the cleaner.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/08/2020 07:40

Can you raise the legs a wee bit. Drinks coasters work well and aren’t too noticeable. 1-2 under each leg?

Chasingsquirrels · 26/08/2020 07:47

I did try last night, the main sofas have a folded up flannel under each leg and I think that height will work and I just need a more permanent solution.

But the sofa bed in the playroom is a different proposition, raising all of it would be impossible and raising part of it would throw off the levels 're pulling out the sofa bit - which the kids do regularly to lie on and play games in there. I did try a coaster on the corner leg last night but it still got stuck.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/08/2020 08:34

How annoying!

Chasingsquirrels · 26/08/2020 08:47

Very!
Particularly having seen the bits under there when I got down with a torch light to rescue eufy.
Which is quite astounding given that less than 2 weeks ago the whole room was stripped of furniture, vacuumed, vax-washed and vacuumed again before having the furniture replaced.
WHERE do the bits come from??

AlCalavicci · 26/08/2020 09:17

@Chasingsquirrels
A bit of a daft but could you fit castors to the legs , it would lift up the sofa and make it easier for the DCs to move.
( you could use ones with brakes if safety is a issue )

mommybear1 · 26/08/2020 10:05

I caved and went for a Eufy how is everyone finding the battery life? Mine seems quite short but I don't know if I'm expecting too much. Alfred takes about 3 hours to charge (he's an 11s) and then I seem to get maybe a little over an hour out of him.

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 26/08/2020 10:13

My battery is fine 30c. He has plenty of life to do all of downstairs (hard floors) and just enough to do upstairs where I put him on full power (2 bedrooms and a hallway)

TrickyD · 26/08/2020 10:20

Ours(30C) finished his 45 minute morning trip at 7.15 and went back to bed. Just had a look at him, no idea when he finished charging but it is now 10.11 and he is full of energy.
45 minutes seems about right for doing our three carpeted rooms and the hall.
Left to his own devices he will run for well over an hour. We haven’t actually tried running him until the battery runs out. Maybe different models vary.
