Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

@FedUpWithBriiiiick

Is the only difference between the 30c and the max version the wattage?

Is 2000w too powerful?

Not wattage silly. Pascals 😳

@snaxinyourslacks
Ah it sounds like it wouldn't really work for me I was hoping he would hover then go round and mop while I am at work

lazy sod here

You would be best fucking the cables out of his reach and binding them with cable ties

Excellent typo😂

I hope you don’t use language like that in front of him. 🤫

Would he pick up Cheerios or peas? My kitchen floor is constantly covered in them but my stupid £400 hand held dyson doesn’t pick them up just pushes them around 🤦🏼‍♀️. I’m so disappointed with the dyson that I’m worried this will be another expensive mistake.

Mine picks up buttons and dry cat food kibble so I’d say probably.
lurkingattheback · 18/08/2020 13:56

Can anyone explain the reason for the boundary strips? Best deal today?

Snozzlemaid · 18/08/2020 13:57

They're just a barrier and are strips you can lay down if you don't want him to enter that area. He'll turn away instead.

Trashtara · 18/08/2020 13:58

Would he pick up Cheerios or peas?

Yes. Though if the cheerios are wet/ soggy they will get the brush a bit manky.

Snozzlemaid · 18/08/2020 13:59

I've not used ours, I just put an object in the way. Particularly in DS's room where he has an awful lot of wires. Quite often I grab his skateboard and lay in front of that area.

lurkingattheback · 18/08/2020 14:34

Thanks. So if boundary strips aren't really needed, is the extra power needed. I can't decide which to buy.

What type of flooring do you have? I have mostly carpet and a few of them need the extra power setting.
DobbyTheHouseElk · 18/08/2020 14:47

Leftover cat biscuits got eaten my Eufy. Hope the cat didn’t see him eating his food.

lurkingattheback · 18/08/2020 14:50

Sexnotgender we have a mix of carpets and wood flooring

mosscarpet · 18/08/2020 14:54

I would also like to know if extra power makes a big difference - I don't need the strips so looking at the 15 not the 30, but was thinking the max would be better......wooden floors throughout, but do have 3 dogs and 2 cats all of whom shed.... a lot!

I’d probably get the max if you have carpets.
mosscarpet · 18/08/2020 14:57

although just realised the 30c max with the reduced price is cheaper today than the 15c max......hmmm decisions, decisions....

LizB62A · 18/08/2020 14:59

Ooh, I've been thinking about one of these for a while.
We've got two cats (one fluffy, one just fat Smile) - what is Eufy like for picking up bits of cat litter which have been tracked in ?

Thanks!

AlCalavicci · 18/08/2020 15:30

TUCKING the cables out of his way

I promise I do not get up to anything weird with cables Blush

Yes, hi will pick up cat biscuits and tracked litter though they tend to ping it about a bit first sometimes. Mine likes crunchy nut cornflakes for breakfast

AlCalavicci · 18/08/2020 15:34

Fecking auto correct! he will

Coffee4Queen · 18/08/2020 16:10

If you pick him up and put him somewhere else; does he get confused and can’t find his way back home? I have a weird bit that through no fault of his own he has ignored.

TrickyD · 18/08/2020 16:23

We needed the boundary strips to stop him getting into the well in which the mat by the front door sits. Once in he couldn’t climb out.
The well has a two inch metal rim round it so the strips fit neatly on to it.
Not needed anywhere else.

Coffee4Queen If we pick him up and put him down somewhere else, he goes home eventually.

I want one! What's the best deal at the moment?

wellididntknow · 18/08/2020 18:52

I too am massively disappointed with my dyson and worry that it will be another expensive mistake

TrickyD · 18/08/2020 20:07

As far as I can see, you can only buy them from Amazon or from Eufy itself.
You need to keep checking the prices of both, as they are usually surprisingly different and change from day to day..
I haven't really followed the cost of the 15Max, but if you can get the 30c for less than £200 that is a decent price.
