Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

30C Max is £209 which is a great price.

TrickyD · 18/08/2020 20:51

I have a Deik Robohoover from amazon - pretty much the same but about half the price

TrickyD · 19/08/2020 09:11

WalzingBetty, yes, considerably cheaper for what seems a similar product. It would be good to see some Deik owners on here recounting their experiences.

I succumbed to the lure of a Eufy last week, but sadly s/he must live in their box for a couple of weeks until the new kitchen is finished! I couldn't resist the Amazon deal hence the proactive if somewhat preemptive purchase. Plus need to wait until I see them in action before settling on a name Grin

WaltzingBetty · 19/08/2020 12:33

@TrickyD

The first one I ordered wouldn't charge properly - I contacted customer services and they sent me a new one straight away no quibble.

The new one is great and it turns out the old one is actually fine but there must've been an issue with its charger as it charges fine from the new charging station. I use them both now and just alternate charging them on the one station . Had them over a year and brilliant

Ours was delivered on Monday (I've wanted one for a while but it was this thread, and the £60 off deal on the Eufy website (plus an emboldening glass of wine Grin) that sealed the deal).

I think we love him. He's a joyful little fellow, and the kids have decided to call him 'Botty'... We've only had him going a couple of times but he seems very aimless - we've got quite a big open plan area with three rooms off it downstairs and he seems to do a bit in one of the spaces then trundle off to the bathroom, say, for a bit, then back again to the first space, sometimes going over old ground. I guess I thought he'd be a bit more methodical (if I did the hoovering like that, it would be insane). Maybe I'm not doing it right? Should I shut the doors to the rooms so he can concentrate on the big space and then take him in the rooms to do them separately, maybe?

Mine is the same, but today he was more methodical. Spent ages cleaning the dining room no one uses. Had to steer him into the living room which is in need, but he did a cursory spin round and was out. For some reason he isn’t keen on the living room. DCat was so freaked out by him and was intrigued and terrified at the same time.

I wonder if I’m getting the set up wrong as he gets obsessed with the same bit of carpet and leaves the rest alone.

Sexnotgender · 19/08/2020 14:23

I trap mine in a room at a time. He’s doing my office just now and I’ll hoof him out into the hall in a minute.

Sexnotgender · 19/08/2020 14:26

I think my husband is sold, he told me this morning we need one for upstairs too😂

TrickyD · 19/08/2020 14:42

He does seem rather aimless, but if you set him to work on his own and leave him to it, he seems to get everywhere eventually, but it is not a quick process. His daily early morning outings have made a lot of difference to the look of the carpets and I am still amazed at how much dust he keeps finding. God knows how much squalor we must have been living in previously.

BEE FARSEER
I have just been on amazon to find giant googly eyes! Ours is Bertie and he has been flying blind!

Champagneforeveryone · 19/08/2020 16:05

I've just double checked and my 30C (aka The Dogs of War) was £169.99 at the start of July.
I knew he was a bargain Grin

TimeTruthandHearts · 19/08/2020 20:03

This is a bit specific, but for anyone who uses the boundary strips in the kitchen (we use them around the dogs water bowl to save us lifting it), I've found that slapping them to the side of the fridge is a good way to store them.

TrickyD · 19/08/2020 20:24

Well done Champagne!

Good idea re.the boundary strips, TimeTruth, they are very strong magnets.
I just suggested googly eyes to DH but he thinks the little chap is anthropomorphised enough.

Flying blind Grin

Ours has made a huge difference in our big open plan room. We've not let him venture further yet as house is a tip, we need to clear the floors Hmm

Then he will be released on the whole downstairs.

We got the hard floor sweep and mop one. Anyone know if he gets into difficulties on a rug, or not good for him, or if it doesn't hurt him just not so effective?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 19/08/2020 21:13

I have a rag rug and he was fine on it. He rucked it up a bit but came back to tidy it!!

NiceGerbil · 19/08/2020 21:20

Thanks dobby!

Kittywampus · 19/08/2020 22:01

Mine picks up cheerios and cat litter.

I tried him on the beds but I think they are too soft for him and he keeps getting stuck in the dips in the mattress. He managed to flip himself upside down the other day and was stuck on his back like a beetle when I found him Shock

FedUpWithBriiiiick · 20/08/2020 08:09

My new friend is arriving today! So exciting! Will post his first furtive steps later. Need to clear a quiet space for him to acclimatise...

No name yet, DH and I have agreed to name him when he arrives and we see him.

Glitterbiscuits · 20/08/2020 09:26

Ok, I'm following this thread and I'm weakening.
I need one which can deal with
Carpeted sitting room
Wooden floor kitchen and dining room and hall
Carpet in one downstairs bedroom
Cats, with longhair and cat litter, cat biscuits etc.
Small children and teenagers.

What should I get and what is the max price I should pay?
Please help my menopausal brain.

Around £200 is good for the decent ones.

For context I have 2 greyhounds, 2 cats, a toddler and a teenager. Also have a mix of flooring and I’m impressed so far.

castieldeansam · 20/08/2020 09:39

I have a Eufy 15cmax called Dustin.
I love him, had him since June. He goes off every morning at 7am. I hated hoovering, so rarely did it, now Dustin does it for me our house feels nicer. We have both hardflooring and carpet, plus a rug he copes with.
He doesn't like socks, or wires, he humps our kitchen stools, and hates bright light (works on IR sensor).

I swap the brushes over every now and then as the tend to bend one way if left too long.

I trap him in bedrooms after throwing everything onto the bed.

Our floors have never been cleaner.

I know wash my hard floors more too as I don't have to hoover before I do them (except the corners with a handheld), which makes it a lot quicker.

I got him on a lightening deal on amazon which seem to come up regularly.

I genuinely wouldn't be without him now!

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 20/08/2020 09:45

I’ve just ordered one and I’m
So excited! Definitely be getting some google eyes for him :)
