Went out for a few drinks with work friends tonight and the conversation turned to drugs. I was the only one who’d never done any, not even a joint. The others have all done pretty much everything- weed, coke, Es, speed, MDMA, even heroin in one case.

I’m not virulently anti drugs, they just never crossed my path growing up and now I’m middle aged with kids and get quite excited when I’ve got cause to crack open the Solpadeine but by the end of the conversation I felt practically Armish!

Am I the only one? Please say not...

Yes I have, but it was so long ago that even if you are the worlds worst undercover drug cop you wouldn’t be able to make the charges stick

I’m exactly the same as you OP.

I remember in primary school before we moved up the local PC coming in and telling us ‘you will be offered drugs, you have to say no’ and being absolutely terrified i was going to succumb and end up a drug addict at the age of about 13 but thankfully not.

I’ve only ever once been in the position where I could have ‘done a line’ if I’d wanted to and that was in my mid 20s when thankfully I was able to see the bigger picture and say no

I can barely remember '93-'98.

Drugs were different then though, they used to have official (police, I think) people outside clubs in a tent checking that your drugs were pure so we were safe at least, plus all the dealers around here were pretty ethical (as far as drug dealers go) they kept heroin off the streets and never sold to kids.

Those were the days. Everyone's a junkie here now

Everything apart from crack, very heavy user of speed mainly and cannabis but also heroin at one point til I overdosed and realized how easy it was for that to happen and never touched it again. Clean for a lot of years now

I'm late 50s, smoked cannabis, took a few e's and a bit of speed in my thirties, had some brilliant times but got a bit paranoid on cannabis and stopped when I had kids

Yes. I smoked a lot of weed as a teenager. Then I spent a good portion of my youth (18-25ish) taking MDMA & cocaine pretty much every weekend. I was lovely and slim! I had a cracking time! Met a lot of very lovely people at raves. Then my best friend died of a condition indirectly related to drug misuse. Which shook everyone up and we all decided maybe we should stick to shandy.
I'm now in my 30's and a grown up (ish) and a cup of tea rings my bell more than anything else!

Have also tried Ketamine once but ended up having a very hideous trip so never tried it again!

Magic Mushrooms, back when they were legal. Marvellous things. They should never have been banned. Not only was the trip fun, the happy effects lasted a good few months and had the benefit that I had no interest in alcohol.

Professor David Nutt has it right that they should be used to treat depression.

Yes - scarily when I first took a pill I had no idea it was ecstasy I was taking. Loved ecstasy and the happy, wonderful feeling it gave me. Not so much the chewed cheeks and comedowns.

Weed made me paranoid.

Speed was horrific, felt terrible for days afterwards.

Cocaine suited me far better than alcohol does. If it was legalised I would choose coke over booze any day of the week.

I tried poppers once when I was an excited teenager shopping in Camden. 0/10 would not recommend. I was always too afraid to try cannabis because of the woeful tale of a close family member, but one night during the lowest time of my life I did try it. I actually enjoyed it, I didn't die, and I've never tried it again since. I've often wondered about how coke might feel but I would be too afraid to put powder in my nose, I can't understand why people are so willing to even try it! But that's because I'm a pansy I guess. I don't feel like I can honestly say I've avoided 'the hard stuff' though because I once had oramorph in hospital . Am I excused because it wasn't intravenous?

Nope - they never ever crossed my path! I’d have probably been too nervous to take anything anyway, and even in my teens I preferred to come home on the last bus to have a cuppa and read my book.

Had plenty of chances. I just never trusted anyone - people could be giving you anything!

I haven’t but all my friends did when we were teenagers and I know loads of people who still do so if I ever wanted to I wouldn’t have any trouble getting hold of them. In fact back in the day I’d have to constantly turn them down I’ve always been a very anxious person so the fear of what might go wrong has always slightly outweighed my curiosity. I’m also the only person I know who’s never even tried a cigarette!

I do drink though so I’m not totally perfect 😂

Poppers also and acid... poppers gave me a headache and acid really didn't agree with me...

I've done coke, speed, MDMA, pills, ketermine, weed, and I think that's it.
Have kids now.
I find alcohol the worst tbh
