Have you done drugs??

Went out for a few drinks with work friends tonight and the conversation turned to drugs. I was the only one who’d never done any, not even a joint. The others have all done pretty much everything- weed, coke, Es, speed, MDMA, even heroin in one case.

I’m not virulently anti drugs, they just never crossed my path growing up and now I’m middle aged with kids and get quite excited when I’ve got cause to crack open the Solpadeine Grin but by the end of the conversation I felt practically Armish!

Am I the only one? Please say not...

I was a teen in the 90s and no I didn't and haven't. I've never even smoked a cigarette. You're not alone OP

I do love wine, though, that's my only vice.

Only weed and ecstasy, I don't personally know anyone who's taken less than that! I really didn't fair well on either, the weed made me want to vomit and the ecstasy made me make poor choices WRT menConfused

Never been offered drugs, OP, and have never solicited them either. The nearest I have got to drugs is paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Seems the no heroin or crack rule is prevalent with those of us that did the rest in the 90's

We had 'standards' enjoy the party put don't get hooked and become a junkie

Weed, ecstacy, coke, mushrooms, acid, heroin once by mistake, evil speed, alcohol, microdots
Weed I had too much (every day for about 5 years) made me very boring and lethargic

Ecstacy only about 15 times and still occasionally as I do like it.

Coke makes me super dull as it does most.
A few srooms are lots of fun
Acid is ridiculous my full on though definitely opened a part of my mind that only those who have had a good time on acid would understand.
Alcohol I still drink and probably will cause the most issues.

Loads. Anything that was being sold really.

I didn’t touch crack or heroin. Although I knew people who did the former recreationally - it always seemed like a waste of money to me.

In the late 80s/ early 90s I took ecstasy, speed, LSD on a regular (weekly) basis. Never liked smoking so only had cannabis occasionally and it usually made me sick. I had cocaine a handful of times but never really enjoyed it. Never had heroin and never would; I know I'd like it too much. I've never tried magic mushrooms but I'd really like to.

I've dabbled in coke in the early 00s. Could see how it became highly addictive so stopped myself before falling too far - I did enjoy it though.

Smoked a cannabis vape several times for pain relief. It was excellent but I took a few too many draws the first time and lost the rest of the evening - best nights sleep I've had in years.

That's about it recreationally.

I do take oramorph, codeine and MST on a daily basis now for pain relief if that counts? Grin

God, yes. I really miss coke. After crack and heroine it's the one never taken drugs before people get the most shocked about, but it's so mellow really. I'd much rather have it on a weekend than alcohol. I don't miss anything else really. Weed started making me really socially paranoid. MDMA and ecstacy is amazing to be on, and I miss all the fun times and 'everyone stroke this wall it feels amazing! Ooh should we all get in the shower with our clothes on? I need to chew some ice. I just want to go and roll down a hill' etc parties but for me the come downs were BRUTAL (didn't stop me taking it at least once a week for years though). I also used to take a lot of speed, ketamine, and then there were the legal high phase, like salvia and anyone remember M-Cat? That was pretty strong stuff for a legal.

You're not the only one by any means. I've known loads of people who never did any drugs.

I smoked cannabis quite a bit for a while when young and snorted speed twice, that's all. I'd have been much too scared to try anything stronger.

I never did anything. I had the idea that since I did not smoke cigarettes I could not smoke weed so while my friends did, I didn't.

When my son died I tried anything I could get my hands on to numb the pain.

It's not the answer but I do not regret trying to lose myself for a while

Weed, Coke and Speed in my twenties. Have had the odd spliff since then but nothing else for years. I loved Coke but was wary of addiction cos it was so brilliant so never took it regularly.

I know quite a few people who still take coke recreationally. They are all boring and self centred as fuck when they take it. Just constant rambling on about how bloody great they are. It’s really tedious and makes me glad I’ve never touched it.

Interesting that I'm willing to bet the OP, and many of the anti-drugs people on here have taken the most deadly, mostly physically addictive, most destructive drug.

Addiction and misuse are the issues, not the individual drug of choice.

A bit, but I never really liked them. Had a couple of friends die of overdoses which put me off for life.

I had the opportunity many times but I could never trust that it wasn't somehow dangerous - mixed with something else etc. I wouldn't have been sure what I was actually taking and that never appealed

Yes to weed when backpacking in the Middle East - once was enough. The night passed in about 30 seconds but also seemed to last many hours, so I spent a lot of time feeling very confused. Ive always been too scared to try anything else - I would be the one that reacted badly.

I was in hospital recently and hated morphine (gave me a huge weight on my chest) and fentanyl (made me forget to breathe) but scarily liked the codeine although that made me gasp for breath as well.

My cousin died a horrific death after a heroin overdose and I tell his story to my dc so hopefully they give that a wide berth.
