Just been browsing rightmove, looks innocuous from the outside.

Confused
SoupDragon · 19/07/2020 21:14

Far more likely that a poster reported it as being the wrong thing to do.

callmeadoctor · 20/07/2020 13:24

Are they real dead animals though? (If you see what I mean Grin)

SerenityNowwwww · 20/07/2020 13:56

Real live animals would be fun though.

crankysaurus · 20/07/2020 14:31

Turns out it's just sytools of a really unconventional zoo.

NameyMcNamechangeOoer · 20/07/2020 15:08

I live really nearby and had no idea that house was there! (But am now pretty sure who has the big fireworks party every year...)

Link to the Zebra Rocking Horse...

That’s just so disturbing and quite upsetting, theriverrunsdeep. Just when you think humans can’t treat animals in any more shitty ways than they currently do, along comes some odious individuals to prove otherwise.

Rebelwithallthecause · 20/07/2020 20:09

The animals aren’t purposely killed for the taxidermy

Modern taxidermy isn’t cruel

LillianBland · 20/07/2020 20:20

@Rebelwithallthecause

The animals aren’t purposely killed for the taxidermy

Modern taxidermy isn’t cruel

It may not be cruel, but it treats animals as objects, rather than something that had a life. It’s just horribly distasteful, not to mention the obvious tackiness of it.
Rebelwithallthecause · 20/07/2020 20:23

I personally would be happy to taxidermy a beloved pet once it passes (as long as it hasn’t died in bad circumstances)

I respect that you may feel differently

I am otherwise an animal lover and campaigner, and vegetarian.

Friends who are taxidermists definitely don’t disrespect the animals that once were and none were killed for the art.

As sad as the rothschilds collection has been put together it now remains a very import part of animal history and study

Rebelwithallthecause · 20/07/2020 20:24

That being said , should I be in the market for such ‘art’ I wouldn’t be happy buying from someone who wasn’t able to prove the source and that it wasn’t killed unnecessarily

ListeningQuietly · 20/07/2020 20:25

The animals aren’t purposely killed for the taxidermy ....Modern taxidermy isn’t cruel
Except when Trophy hunters stuff the animals they shoot .....

Rebelwithallthecause · 20/07/2020 20:31

It’s unfortunately anyone like that who acts illegally gives anything a bad name

Ethical taxidermists have unfortunately been attacked viciously and sometimes forced to shut down because of people who think everyone must be killing to carry out the work, even those who only take on beloved passed pets

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/07/2020 20:42

I'm undecided about the zebra . As a taxidermed zebra you can admire its beauty for ever more (and they are beautiful, fine built creatures )

What I don't like is it being secured onto rockers to make ot an elaborate toy Sad

Would a real horse be more offensive as a Rocking Horse ?

I can see why people would think about having a loved pet taxidermed (though I'd have the cats curled up and sleeping , the fake eyes are scary)

Viviennemary · 20/07/2020 21:21

I think taxidermy is vile. Why would a child want to use a dead zebra as a rocking horse. I just hope it was never a living bring and is made out of cloth.

jeff1965 · 11/08/2020 16:12

They've removed the pictures showing the taxidermy now. Now the photos seem a bit lacking for such an expensive and large property
