The saving grace is that it's a relatively newly-built property - the clue is in it being described as 'Queen Anne-style country house' and 'Beautifully designed in the Queen Anne style' so the owners haven't destroyed a listed building. The only listed part is the wall around the perimeter.
Ashley and Cheryl Cole however... Hurtmore House was a beautiful period Arts and Crafts home that they bought. They ripped the ivy off the front, took out most of the internal walls and the staircases, turning it from a 2-storey into a 3-storey house, and ripped out all the original herringbone parquet flooring on the ground floor, which went on a Guy Fawkes night bonfire. This is the brochure from when Ashley sold it (at a thumping great loss - they paid £3.55m, spent another £5m on it and ended up selling for £6.1m after asking £7.5m) and there's very little trace of what used to be a beautiful period house left: media.onthemarket.com/properties/1770520/doc_1_0.pdf
