Sorry, I know this topic has been done before but...
Recently watched The Falling, and Florence Pugh sings Voyage To The Moon- it's only a brief moment, but I had never heard the song before and I cannot stop thinking about it. I've listened to Donovan and the Mary Hopkin version and I'm sobbing! Absolutely bawling my eyes out! It is such a sad sweet melancholy song. It's making me think of the DCs as babies and how little DD (4) is growing so big now...

Are there any songs that have given you the same reaction? I can't stop listening and crying!

Disclaimer- this may be a result of lockdown hysteriaGrin

happypotamus · 13/07/2020 14:42

Almost every song Frightened Rabbit have ever sung! I still love them and listen to them.
The Night Will Always Win by Elbow. I had never heard of it until I read one of these sad songs threads. I did indeed make me cry.

@Hangingover yes Everglow. So powerful. It makes me think of my late, beloved sibling and their amazing 'everglow'. Tears just flow but they are cathartic...

Choppedupapple · 13/07/2020 14:46

Angel by Sarah Mchlachlan (May have spelt her surname wrong).

Stay by Shakespeares Sister - released a couple of months after my dad died.

lobster12 · 13/07/2020 14:58

I'm 29 weeks pregnant and for some reason every time I hear Husavik (my home town) from the Eurovision movie I just cry like a baby.

Normally it's the living years by Mike and the mechanics. It reminds of when I was young and my dad used to play it in the car.

Driving home for Christmas makes me tear up if I'm actually in the car and it's Christmas time.

TranquilityofSolitude · 13/07/2020 14:58

I will always love you - but sung by Dolly Parton (who wrote it). I remembered the Whitney version, which is good, but there's something so heartfelt about Dolly's rendition which gets me every time.

Iris DeMent Our Town.

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 13/07/2020 15:29

Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Eva Cassidy, it was one of my beautiful DM’s funeral songs and I can’t listen to it at all, she also had You Are Not Alone by Michael Jackson and that makes me blub like a baby 😢

Also The Seekers - Morningtown Ride, I used to sing it to DS when I was up in the night with him, I had really bad (undiagnosed because I hid it really well) PND and I used to sob my heart out whilst trying to sing 😢

Shoxfordian · 13/07/2020 15:33

Soon you'll get better by Taylor Swift makes me tearful. My mum is fine but I know I couldn't cope with anything happening to her.

My dh was snuffling at "Do you want to build a snowman?"from Frozen the other day

Binterested · 13/07/2020 15:38

Alone Again Naturally - Gilbert O’Sullivan
Dance with my Father - Luther Vandross
Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks

And yy to 17 by Janis Ian

MellowMelly · 13/07/2020 15:48

Lost It All sung by Birdy.

It’s poignant to me after being in a domestic abuse relationship. She just sort of sums it up.

lastqueenofscotland · 13/07/2020 16:23

Clairvoyant by Story so Far
Otis/Carl by Spanish Love Songs

MsEllany · 13/07/2020 16:25

Count On Me by Bruno Mars. Not a sad song as such, but I first heard it in school assembly with my then 6 year old signing and singing along to it. Brings me to tears just thinking of it.

runningtogetskinny · 13/07/2020 17:38

Numb by Linkin Park, someone close to me took their own life and whenever I listen to the lyrics to this song it makes me think this must have been how they were feeling

percheron67 · 13/07/2020 17:39

Puff the Magic Dragon. Bright Eyes.
