Songs that make you sob

Sorry, I know this topic has been done before but...
Recently watched The Falling, and Florence Pugh sings Voyage To The Moon- it's only a brief moment, but I had never heard the song before and I cannot stop thinking about it. I've listened to Donovan and the Mary Hopkin version and I'm sobbing! Absolutely bawling my eyes out! It is such a sad sweet melancholy song. It's making me think of the DCs as babies and how little DD (4) is growing so big now...

Are there any songs that have given you the same reaction? I can't stop listening and crying!

Disclaimer- this may be a result of lockdown hysteriaGrin

This is pathetic but can't listen to Andy and The Odd Socks 'Unique' without proper getting choked up!
It's on my dds Spotify playlist and she's like "This is the one that makes you cry mummy" (She thinks it's hilarious!)

Marshmello/Bastille - Happier makes me ugly cry.

Accepting someone will be happier without you in their life. Plus the video is absolutely heart wrenching

Loud sobs and ugly, ugly crying. So many memories of my own mingled with his beautiful words.

For Good, the song at the end of the musical Wicked makes me sob as soon as the first bar starts. It did in the theatre the first time I’d heard it. It makes me think of my mum and the wonderful female friends in my life who have made my life so much better. I listen to it when I need to cry to feel better!

Also agree with previous poster who said Ed Sheeran Aifire Love. I’m not a massive Ed fan and Perfect makes my teeth itch but this is in my opinion, his best song.

Lullaby by Josh Groben and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. It's beautiful. I sing it to my son every night. It was my reminder when leaving an abusive relationship that everything was going to be ok.

Oh also, Lady Antebellum Need You Now. Again, reminds me of when my mum died even though I think it’s a romantic song, it would make me sob if it came on the radio, particularly at night!

Tori Amos Winter. Makes me think of my relationship with my dad when he was alive.

Also Ralph McTell's Streets Of London. That song has been depressing me since I were a nipper.

Bright Eyes - Simon & Garfunkel

Afire Love - Ed Sheeran

Faded - Alan Walker

Thousand Years - Christina Perri

I walked up the aisle to A Thousand Years and now I'm unable to listen to it without balling!

An oldie - If We Hold On Together by Diana Ross. The Land Before Time has a lot to answer for. I would sob like a baby when the credits rolled.

When She Loved Me from Toy Story 2

You'll Never Walk Alone. It was the funeral song for my grandad who was a die hard Liverpool fan.

Dance With My Father - Luther Vandross

Probably others too but that’s the first that comes to mind

This is one of my favourite songs and makes me cry for slightly different reason. I've always loved it but it was the song that came on as my DD was being born by CS. I used to belt it out and now I get a lump in my throat

My brother in law singing We'll Meet Again whilst playing his guitar was played at his memorial after he died two years ago and I can't listen to it without a good sob. I'm not much of a cryer but it gets me every time.

Many songs by Sufjan Stevens make me cry, especially the one written about his mum dying but the first 3 minutes of each of his new songs make me cry for no rational reason whatsoever. His music just moves me.

I was driving home the other day and Blue Jeans by Lana Del Ray came on and I had to pull over I was sobbing so hard.

Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division. Always loved it but ever since my boyfriend showed me the video I sob every time I hear it. We saw a cover band just before lockdown and I had to take myself off during the encore.

Poke - Frightened Rabbit. Heartbreaking.

I'm welling up just thinking of these...I need to have a stern word with myself.
