On masks I am so tempted to go full on plague doctor. But then again I’m in a shite mood today.

Finally got 20 minutes to myself in the garden, they all went out Shock. First time I’ve been alone in the house for months and next door starts bugging me about my wild strawberry plants self seeding and popping up in his garden. It’s a fucking strawberry not a triffid. Get a grip.

Then took us all to the beach tonight with the plan to give the dog a run then go to dd2s favourite pizza place as it’s just reopened. Dog had a good run, we watched a pod of dolphins offshore. Then went to order pizza and it’s pre-orders only. They can’t have people queueing to order pizza in the open air due to social distancing but 50 yards down the road queueing for chips and ice cream is fine. This is one of things pissing me off so much there is no consistency. It’s all bollocks but I could cope with consistent bollocks a lot better.

Add in the fact that I now have to remember to order pizza next Friday as well as remember to book tickets for English heritage and NT as we are off work soon and having days out. And I suppose that if Boris bends to the dementors and brings in compulsory masks I’ll probably have that to sort for everyone as well. Even the dolphins haven't stopped me feeling pissed off. I was really looking forward to that pizza!

At least dh took one look at my face and is sorting dinnerSmile

@justasking111
Restaurants just cannot get hold of perspex so what should they use to create a booth effect between tables do you think?

  • Cut up empty 2l plastic drinks bottles taped over bent coat-hangers with hazard tape?
  • Shower curtains ( I think someone has actually done this)
  • Bubble wrap? (Doubles as a handy stress reliever when your business goes down the Swannee)
-insist that all customers bring their own perspex (would save on cleaning)
  • all humans to wear mandatory glass goldfish bowls on their heads in restaurants. If you trip over & the bowl smashes you may inundate your local A&E with your lacerated face, but at least you won't have caught covid!
BarkandCheese · 10/07/2020 20:34

I was looking at plague doctor outfits the other day, I quite fancy making myself one for a Halloween costume. Maybe I should make the goggles and beak bit first and try it out in the shops Grin .

fartingsparkles · 10/07/2020 20:42

I am another one who would live some time alone. The only time I have left the house without a child in tow was to collect a takeaway a few weeks ago, when my friend was here. So about 10 mins. Dc2 should get 15 hours nursery come January, fingers crossed.

Re masks, I am in the 'I will I have to, but don't want to' camp. It just seems very silly to make it compulsory now - stable door, horse long gone!

SomewhereEast · 10/07/2020 20:45

Oohhhh someone I had to Facebook snooze for hardcore dementing not so long ago is now sharing photos of their (very nice looking) restaurant meal under a post about supporting the local economy 👀

Orangeblossom78 · 10/07/2020 20:51

I was just thinking would be great if DH took the boys off for a few days. That would be a good holiday for me. The thought of going camping with them all after spending so many months cooped up with them does not fill me with joy atm.

On the masks- I think Boris will not want to seem like Trump. He's made some comments recently about things over there without mentioning names, and must see what is happening there as well.

Orangeblossom78 · 10/07/2020 20:52

I wonder do others get the lifting feeling when they all go out for once? I guess again it is because you have your attention back for a bit.

Dowser · 10/07/2020 20:58

@ibake
feel like crying. Why do I feel like this? Why are my feelings on masks so strong?

I've done loads of reading. I can get my head around the arguments for and yet the thought of doing so makes me feel ill. Which makes me feel like I won't be going anywhere or doing anything unless I'm prepared to suck it up and wear one.

We can't be the only ones who feel like this surely? Rishi's plan is fucked if people refuse to go out if they've got to wear a mask.

When I started reading your posts, my heart rate went up!

You’re not alone.
I feel like crying too
The masks thing is just a reminder that we’ve been lied to all along
This was for 3 weeks and here we are mid summer, not only a long way from normal but muzzled too, when hardly anyone is getting it

It’s a feeling of powerlessness. If you don’t do as you’re told...you can’t do this that and the other
We are being treat like children and we know it and it’s not even for our own good
It’s to take our humanity away, dressed up as looking for own good.

Boris needs to prove he’s not a puppet and make a stand against his puppet masters
Otherwise I’m going to start thinking he’s been threatened with something nasty

littlbrowndog · 10/07/2020 20:59

I do orange. Locked in with 3 kids. When they all go out Music on loud as. Dancing on my own

Dowser · 10/07/2020 21:00

@BarkandCheese
I fancy one myself and if this nonsense goes on for any length of time ..I think we will see the
Especially from the steam punk crowd

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 10/07/2020 21:00

I had a proud mummy moment today. No, not a fb boast post for a school report. Not a making memories craft afternoon. Not even a cricket score

Nope. After a little silence he said “but why aren’t people rebelling?”

God I love that kid.

Dowser · 10/07/2020 21:02

@BlackberryViolet
Ooh where were the dolphins?

littlbrowndog · 10/07/2020 21:02

Dowser am not wearing mask.

It’s been fine. No one cares

It makes me feel ill the thought of it smothering me and seeing people makes me feel like they might be robots or something. Mad I know but that’s how it makes me feel

Dowser · 10/07/2020 21:03

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane
Out of the mouth of babes

NannyPhlegm · 10/07/2020 21:03

“but why aren’t people rebelling?”

You've got a bright spark there.
I have wondered this myself.

BlackberryViolet · 10/07/2020 21:06

@Dowser, just off Seaton Carew seafront! Watched them for about 10 minutes, sadly although dh had his camera with him he didn’t have a long enough lens. Typical

SockYarn · 10/07/2020 21:11

Make anti-muzzle noises in a shop in Scotland and it costs you 60 quid.

It's a joke. People aren't wearing them properly. Or they are for 2 minutes, then pulling and adjusting then as they're so hot and sticky. Or wearing them as a chin hammock. Or over the mouth not the nose. Saw two small children (about 7 or 8) yesterday in an adult neoprene face mask which was about 100 times too big for them.

It's horrendous and I HATE IT. I have no option but to wear one. Or pay a £60 fine. I have ordered face visors as there is no way I am muzzling myself to keep nippy nicola happy.

She must be gutted that Boris is considering similar and stealing her dementor thunder.

Dowser · 10/07/2020 21:18

I did wonder
One day

Nihiloxica · 10/07/2020 21:20

@PhilCornwall1

If mandatory masks come in for England I am definitely sticking to online shopping.

Definitely, if the mandatory muzzle comes in, we said here we won't be going out shopping at all.

I don't have to wear one, but can't be doing with the hassle I'd get. I had to go to the Doctors this morning and was given the evil stares and questioned once by some nosey prick. Walked out of there feeling like I was going to deck someone if I was challenged or given an evil stare again.

Did @PhilCornwall1 finally make it over here?

A distinguished Anti-Dementor pedigree.

In the worst days I saw what you did. Thank you.

Dowser · 10/07/2020 21:22

@BlackberryViolet
Dd goes down loads, still hasn’t seen them

Dowser · 10/07/2020 21:23

@Nihiloxica
Why ? What did he do
Genuine question

Teateaandmoretea · 10/07/2020 21:25

I got a takeaway tonight from a restaurant.

Tbh it was only the 2nd time I’d been out this week and the first was to collect dd from school. It was pissing it down so I’ve conducted my social life via Zwift. Am meeting some friends at a cafe tomorrow and I went for a walk after dinner.

Teateaandmoretea · 10/07/2020 21:27

In terms of masks I’m thinking of going to Sainsbury’s in a bikini if it comes in just to prove a point. Minimum legal dress.

littlbrowndog · 10/07/2020 21:31

You don’t have to wear the masks if they cause distress.

Am not wearing a mask in Scotland. Shops don’t care. Other people don’t care

Orangeblossom78 · 10/07/2020 21:32

I was reading today about the behavioural scientists on Sage and how they have realised most people are a bit sceptical about the government's advice nowadays, changing as it is, and if they need to give us messages in future they might use sports personalities or celebrities.

Made me feel even more manipulated and cynical.
