Amber Heard & Johnny Depp....Your thoughts?

Whatdoyouthinkaboutthisone · 08/07/2020 18:53

I have seen this in the news over the past couple of days and wasn't really sure what to think. It sounds to me like a very volatile relationship and it may be that they are both abusers. Or at the least they are completely incompatible with each other.

Today I noticed that Amber Heard was walking into court and she had a scarf around her face. Then she removed the scarf and smiled for everyone and waved and seemed to enjoy the cameras being there. It's just an observation but maybe the accusations of her being a narcissist could be accurate? Or is she maybe trying to put a brave face on it all under what must be a very stressful situation for all concerned?

Johnny Depp kept his mask on but was also waving for the cameras I should add.

Anyway, I'm well aware it's none of my business really, it was just something I had thought about after seeing the news today and wondered what others thought!

Yes they did, but the fact remains that it was a gay female police officer that arrested them not a male as you posted. and she disputes that she is homophobic, she has supported pride and only went to the press after the comments were made and (i think) retired, she is entitled to have her say.

trixiebelden77 · 08/07/2020 21:10

Neither of them are coming out of this sounding like decent, functioning people.

I’m surprised people set so much store by ex-partners denying abuse though. I don’t find that compelling in any situation.

rayoflightboy · 08/07/2020 21:10

@possiblepickle dont tell me what i have read.

Windyjuly · 08/07/2020 21:10

Wheres my mojo, 😂😂😂 indeed!!

Sunbathing, that's very sweet, his dd had been admitted and he was forever grateful.

People have all sorts of sides to then don't they. One doesn't necessarily cancel out the other.

narrowboatgirl · 08/07/2020 21:11

Incidentally there's another quote (from Rolling Stone, December 1988) where a director who worked with Depp stated that Depp once set fire to his own costume in the middle of the set, in a fit of anger.

He's also given interviews in the past talking about setting stuff on fire as a kid.

One of the allegations Amber Heard made against him, which he has denied, is that he set beloved objects that belonged to her on fire.

FrippEnos · 08/07/2020 21:11

Yes she did (the ex) not they,

narrowboatgirl · 08/07/2020 21:13

Amber Heard never said or implied that the arresting officer was homophobic so the whole thing is a strawman.

The fact remains: Heard has never been accused of abuse by anyone she's been romantically involved with, except Depp.

blueglassandfreesias · 08/07/2020 21:13

It’s fascinating and will make an amazing Netflix documentary one of these days!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/07/2020 21:14

Apparently he thinks it’s ok to smash up hotel room as he doesn’t hit women

No acknowledgement or awareness how frightening this might be

Hmm
possiblepickle · 08/07/2020 21:14

Then you are selectively ignoring comments from posters like narrowboat. Why?
Also, you are trying to stay within the confines of the trial and refusing to answer any other points that are highly relevant to the trial and his history anyway.
Plus you shouted. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Uraflutteringcunt · 08/07/2020 21:17

I think Winona’s testimony is more out of date than Kate Moss’s then. She dated him before Kate did. Why is Winona’s relevant and Kate’s isn’t, unless Kate won’t be saying good things and Winona will.

narrowboatgirl · 08/07/2020 21:17

I wasn’t aware he had had any. Damaging property yes, but not actual assault charges. When were they?

He was arrested in 1989 for beating up a hotel security guard, and again in 1999 for beating up a paparazzo.

In 2002 he was sued for getting his bodyguards to severely physically assault a disabled university professor, and the courts found that she had a good case and gave her the greenlight to go ahead, but he offered her a large sum of money to settle out of court.

In 2018 he was sued for beating up a crew member.

Amber Heard never said or implied that the arresting officer was homophobic so the whole thing is a strawman.

I corrected just before you posted, and its not a strawman as she was arrested for alleged DV.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 08/07/2020 21:18

She's a disgusting, vicious psychopathic narcissistic bitch. Both her and her friend defecated in his bed as a "prank" can you even imagine how utterly disgusted you'd feel if that happened to you?!

Can you imagine the comments on here if a female poster came on and said her DH and his mate shit in her bed as a prank?

Windyjuly · 08/07/2020 21:20

Another it seems they both have twisted humour.

possiblepickle · 08/07/2020 21:21

I think in those times Hollywood needed to sell movies based on star power. That is part of the reason why such actors got away with many things. Media wasn’t this strong and fast either.
Another very important point is the patriarchial system there. Man was always right. And had far more power and influence over careers of younger, female actressss.

Now we have Amazon Prime and Netflix, people like Depp need to heavily rely on their PR and spin doctors. They also feel they need a cleaner image. And they obviously can’t let go of the fame (showing us clearly how they misunderstand fame anyway).
It is not just awful for women, it is awful for younger men who cannot find a leading, potentially star-making role while this lot is around.
I would love to see what Ricky Gervais makes of it all. Grin

narrowboatgirl · 08/07/2020 21:22

*its not a strawman as she was arrested for alleged DV."

Please stop twisting things. I said the "accusing the officer of being homophobic" thing was a strawman (since it was someone else who said that), not the arrest.

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/07/2020 21:23

I think she married him to raise her profile. Apparently he overheard her calling him a fat, old man. I suspect he married her for lust and then realised down the line that she was a nutcase. He also has severe money problems and this has crashed his career completely. So he has to clear his name or else he will end up bankrupt.

I think they’re both as bad as each other and I think he’ll lose this court case unfortunately.

FrippEnos · 08/07/2020 21:25

I would love to see what Ricky Gervais makes of it all.

I wonder what he would have said if he had actually made it in Hollywood.

Goyle · 08/07/2020 21:25

Oh, I don't know. When the stories came out that JD might be an abuser, I was surprised, but took against him. (He was one of my favourite actors) But the more I read about AH I realised she wasn't to be absolved of responsibility either. JD has drink and substance abuse problems, anger problems. When he married Heard he was the powerful one. I think AH is wonderfully manipulative and fame hungry and saw JD as a vehicle to the top. So, neither come out of this at all well. giving pot to your 13 year old kid is just awful tbh

rayoflightboy · 08/07/2020 21:26

I dont understand the mindset they’re both as bad as each other .

He didnt shit in her bed or cut of her finger.

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 08/07/2020 21:26

@FrippEnos

narrowboatgirl

The police officer was Officer Beverly Leonard. A lesbian.

Nobody accused the police officer of being homophobic did they? I know Amber Heard's ex accused a male security guard of homophobia but she never mentioned a female police officer.

And just like how women can be misogynistic, gay people can be homophobic so not sure what her sexuality proves.

Supersimkin2 · 08/07/2020 21:26

Amber Heard = turd.

All i can think of, really, being a Cockney.

possiblepickle · 08/07/2020 21:27

Before anyone jumps in to shout ageism, I want to clarify that I have nothing against older leading men. It only boils my piss when a 50+ man is the leading man against a 20 year younger actress. Still remember how Maggie Gyllenhall was too old in mid thirties against Liam Neeson who was in fifties. Hmm

possiblepickle · 08/07/2020 21:28

@FrippEnos

I would love to see what Ricky Gervais makes of it all.

I wonder what he would have said if he had actually made it in Hollywood.

Seeing the kind of men that make in Hollywood (Weinstein et al), I am truly glad he didn’t. Or did he? Smile
