Amber Heard & Johnny Depp....Your thoughts?

I have seen this in the news over the past couple of days and wasn't really sure what to think. It sounds to me like a very volatile relationship and it may be that they are both abusers. Or at the least they are completely incompatible with each other.

Today I noticed that Amber Heard was walking into court and she had a scarf around her face. Then she removed the scarf and smiled for everyone and waved and seemed to enjoy the cameras being there. It's just an observation but maybe the accusations of her being a narcissist could be accurate? Or is she maybe trying to put a brave face on it all under what must be a very stressful situation for all concerned?

Johnny Depp kept his mask on but was also waving for the cameras I should add.

Anyway, I'm well aware it's none of my business really, it was just something I had thought about after seeing the news today and wondered what others thought!

Because Depp is suing the publishers of the Daily Mail for publishing an article calling him a wife beater.

I thought the action was against The Sun?

prh47bridge · 21/07/2020 18:32

@Feenie - Absolutely right. No idea why I said the Daily Mail in that post. I've named the correct newspaper in several other posts. Sorry.

Feenie · 21/07/2020 18:40

No worries! Just checking Smile

Not sure what to make of the whole cringeworthy saga and who is worse than who.
I used to fancy Johnny as a teenager but grew out of it.

I have only read reports from the BBC website now and again. Amber comes across as a fantasist to be honest and her stories seem to get more and more far fetched. She has now claimed that she hit Johnny out of self defence because she thought he was going to push her sister down the stairs because she heard a rumour that he did this to Kate Moss. I hope Kate herself can confirm whether this is true or not. I really hope not.

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 21/07/2020 20:56

She has to work around what evidence there is to put a better slant on how she has behaved.

What she's saying doesn't add up. JD is paranoid about her cheating with other men and women; she is scared of him yet still decides to sneak a new male friend into their home late at night whilst he is away. She gives him a garage key so he can get in without anybody noticing.

goose124 · 21/07/2020 21:20

I've read that JD and Kate Moss have stayed friends all these years and he still looks out for her (whether that's true or tabloid crap I don't know) so hopefully she can state whether there's any truth in the stair pushing rumour.

SerenityNowwwww · 21/07/2020 21:22

I thought they were both going to give evidence then at the last minute we’re stood down.

Ohsuchaperfectday · 21/07/2020 22:19

With all the the witnesses surely the dv police specialist who attended is the first most powerful one? That police officer has professional accountability

prh47bridge · 21/07/2020 22:20

Not sure who you are referring to but Kate Moss was never going to give evidence. Vanessa Paradis and Winona Ryder were both due to give evidence and their witness statements are available. However, the Sun made it clear that they are only alleging Depp was violent to Heard and not to previous partners so their evidence was not required.

Kate tends to stay quiet no matter what has been said about her so I wouldn’t be surprised if she continues now. Even if she did speak up, she isn’t in court so it couldn’t be used. Plus Amber is saying it was something she heard, rather than something she witnessed so harder to prove Amber didn’t believe it even if it wasn’t true.
TinySongstress · 21/07/2020 22:34

I read somewhere that you can't publicly comment on a current court case whilst it's ongoing on the press, I don't know how true that is.
AH brought Kate Moss up KNOWING how private she is and how she's wanted to keep this at a distance (because it's nothing to do with her), yet she's purposefully and publicly thrown her into the mix. Even if KM offers a statement through her lawyers, AH will just say 'oh it's only a rumour I heard' so why bother.
She's throwing the kitchen sink at this though, really.

prh47bridge · 21/07/2020 22:53

You are thinking of the sub judice rules. You cannot publish anything that creates a substantial risk that the course of justice would be seriously impeded or prejudiced, nor can you publish anything that is intended to interfere with the administration of justice. Commenting on a libel case being heard by a judge without a jury is highly unlikely to fall foul of the sub judice rules.

TinySongstress · 22/07/2020 01:59

Thank you @prh47bridge 👍

TinySongstress · 22/07/2020 02:01

Also, I wonder if you know @prh47bridge how the verdict will be delivered in this case? I understand it may take some months but are parties called back to court for the decision, does the judge explain his reasoning?

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 22/07/2020 03:39

With them both being so well known and with their reputations for hard partying there must be a wealth of potential witnesses that could comment on signs of domestic violence.

We've not heard all the evidence and I've no idea how will be shown but there does seem to be a history of JD being the one getting damaged.

I'm sure AH will be saying all of JD's will be self-inflicted when under the influence though - she'll probably be saying he fell down the stairs!

famousforwrongreason · 22/07/2020 04:04

@Chuly

On a light hearted note, what is clear from the transcripts is how bloody complicated the sodding admin is. Pages it seems, of

"If I could refer you to the third binder, section 743"

"743? That doesn't seem to correlate ..."

"Sorry I meant section 743.part b"

"743.B... where am I looking exactly?"

"By the top hole punch, third line down"

"Got it. Thank you"

I've worked with court admin. It's a thankless task, things never tie up, people never give a full or clear brief, everything is last minute, knee jerk and prone to change at a minute's notice. It's impossible to leave work on time and inter department colleagues have no sense of supporting each other. Every (wo) man for themselves. I've seen people break under the pressure.
8misskitty8 · 22/07/2020 10:25

If pushing Kate Moss down the stairs is a lie then I think Kate Moss needs to give some sort of statement to Johnny depps lawyer. Unfortunately if she says nothing then people will believe it to be true even if it isn’t.
Same for James Franco. Amber claims he saw her bruised face when he was in the lift with her. Will he be giving a statement regarding that ?

beelola · 22/07/2020 12:44

Doesn't Kate Moss try to be as private as possible? I can't see that she would want to get involved in any of this. James Franco should have been called as a witness if he saw injuries that a police officer, stylist and others didn't see.

ninjaturtle000 · 22/07/2020 15:16

Neither of them are coming out of this well, are they? Sounds utterly toxic.

prh47bridge · 22/07/2020 17:22

@TinySongstress - The lawyers for both sides will be present when the judgement is delivered. The parties may be present but they don't have to be. The judge will provide a written judgement setting out his reasoning. The lawyers will have seen this in advance.

AWafferthinmint · 22/07/2020 17:31

When is it due to end?

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/07/2020 18:10

If pushing Kate Moss down the stairs is a lie then I think Kate Moss needs to give some sort of statement to Johnny depps lawyer.

I'll be interested to see if she does.. though like others have said she's notoriously private, I don't even think she ever really does any interviews does she?

TinySongstress · 22/07/2020 19:26

Thank you @prh47bridge 👍

Callardandbowser · 22/07/2020 21:11

When will this case end? Is there a date for the judge to make their decision?

TinySongstress · 22/07/2020 22:26

The evidence and summing up should end on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. The judge will then go away and consider everything, this could take months. Maybe 3-6, or so I've been led to believe...
