Amber Heard & Johnny Depp....Your thoughts?

I have seen this in the news over the past couple of days and wasn't really sure what to think. It sounds to me like a very volatile relationship and it may be that they are both abusers. Or at the least they are completely incompatible with each other.

Today I noticed that Amber Heard was walking into court and she had a scarf around her face. Then she removed the scarf and smiled for everyone and waved and seemed to enjoy the cameras being there. It's just an observation but maybe the accusations of her being a narcissist could be accurate? Or is she maybe trying to put a brave face on it all under what must be a very stressful situation for all concerned?

Johnny Depp kept his mask on but was also waving for the cameras I should add.

Anyway, I'm well aware it's none of my business really, it was just something I had thought about after seeing the news today and wondered what others thought!

@TinySongstress

The court drawings are hilariously awful. 😂
I was thinking that recently about court drawings in general
roo2018 · 20/07/2020 22:56

I doubt there would be an investigation into the police with it being a civil case and not criminal. The officer who gave evidence was specially trained in domestic violence. He was questioned thoroughly about the bruising and was adamant there wasn’t any, he looked for it a number of times.

roo2018 · 20/07/2020 23:07

@MyShinyWhiteTeeth why are you assuming it was her that was the victim? Have you listened to any of the recordings? Clearly not.

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 20/07/2020 23:16

So she faked being bruised. The pictures of her bruised face had a lot of impact.

It still doesn't prove JD didn't physically abuse her other times but makes her a lot less credible.

I think the damage to her reputation is well deserved.

Ohsuchaperfectday · 20/07/2020 23:25

Re the damage its bizzare, so many flats, which ones did the officer check and then he said he was there an hour but footage shows only 30 minutes or so?

Re the bruises, I have sadly seen bruises from dv and proper swollen eyes, cut lips... Massive blue bruising... On some pics of her and him I love see teeny scratch or faint Mark... My dc pick up more knocks and cuts... Not that makes it ok but I can't really see anything in any pics of either of them??

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 20/07/2020 23:26

I don't actually assume she is the victim. I posted previously about one recording.

Ohsuchaperfectday · 20/07/2020 23:30

Jd sounds vulnerable, I imagine comments about all the yes men and lackeys are also true... He's their gravey train. Even his sister apparently.
I don't know if they talk now, but her insistence on the the pre nup again seems for her own benefit... Ruthless!!

But I can also imagine he was out of it and didn't know what he did and no one was honest... It's very tough... They didn't seem to press the tapes today instead asking judge to listen himself. What if he doesn't?

hotsouple · 20/07/2020 23:43

Reactive Abuse

gluteustothemaximus · 20/07/2020 23:56

I always believed him.

But at the time mumsnet wouldn't even allow you to speak about the 'wife beater'.

I think she's an abusive narc.

JK Rowling stood up for JD and received backlash. She’s doing the same for women's rights now.

famousforwrongreason · 21/07/2020 00:23

@MyShinyWhiteTeeth

If the police failed to notice any facial bruising or smashed household items at the scene when AH was supposed to have been hurt then they were either negligent or bribed or there was no obvious bruising/property damage.

That should be investigated.

I think that's the key event. It could potentially show AH to be either innocent or guilty of faking being attacked.

It seems to be well known amongst her associates/staff that she appeared fine and without bruising after she was allegedly attacked. There are verbal accounts and a few photos that suggest no visible facial bruising.

It could be make-up covering it up. The bruising may have been missed by the police. The alleged damage at the property is not likely to have been missed though.

AH's ex employees on the whole don't seem to like her and are biased against her. JD has better relations with his staff, they are all more like long term friends/almost family. They are all biased too. I don't think any of their evidence can be trusted.

JD's interactions with people seem better whereas AH doesn't seem to be well received - she doesn't seem to be very likeable. That doesn't mean she deserves to be beaten up.

It seems increasingly likely she was unfaithful in their marriage but that still isn't an excuse for domestic abuse.

Good post @MyShinyWhiteTeeth
TinySongstress · 21/07/2020 00:57

She outright lies in her statement and has so far called LAPD, several medical professionals, her own staff, general building staff, her friends, Johnny's witnesses and Eleanor Laws QC liars. Hmm.

@MyShinyWhiteTeeth yes she did either fake them, or do it herself, or get someone else to do them. She was seen by multiple witnesses after the alleged assault by JD and none of them saw any bruises, including police officers. She was also filmed on a show the following day making exaggerated facial expressions which would not have been possible had she sustained the injuries she claimed.

In a nutshell, she’s lying.

roo2018 · 21/07/2020 08:16

@Ohsuchaperfectday I’m concerned the judge won’t listen to the whole recordings too. They’re by far the best/most telling evidence in the whole case.

roo2018 · 21/07/2020 08:25

The full transcripts are now available on Nick Wallis’ website if anyone’s interested. I prefer them to the paraphrased live tweets, they contain the discussions between the barristers and judge too.

Ohsuchaperfectday · 21/07/2020 09:15

Nick Wallis has been a legend. We've lost him now.

He's doing other work.

roo2018 · 21/07/2020 09:57

I agree. He said he will still post the transcripts though.

prh47bridge · 21/07/2020 10:38

Nick Wallis also followed the Post Office trial and has done a great job on that story. If you aren't familiar with it, take a look at www.postofficetrial.com.

For those concerned that the judge won't listen to the whole recordings, I can assure you that the judge will listen to all recorded evidence and read all written evidence.

Chuly · 21/07/2020 10:48

On a light hearted note, what is clear from the transcripts is how bloody complicated the sodding admin is. Pages it seems, of

"If I could refer you to the third binder, section 743"

"743? That doesn't seem to correlate ..."

"Sorry I meant section 743.part b"

"743.B... where am I looking exactly?"

"By the top hole punch, third line down"

"Got it. Thank you"

penberrh · 21/07/2020 10:54

Yep, the pagination often seems to be out of sync - some trainee’s head us going to roll!

I think the more pressing issue for consideration is: Leonardo di caprio - pumpkin head?? I must say I’d never noticed it before but now it’s been brought to my attention all I can think is ‘fair comment’.

TinySongstress · 21/07/2020 11:06

Honestly it's just another tactic to trash him & damage his career with co stars. She's done nothing but 'tell tales' since she took the stand, but the more she talks and talks, the more absurd this whole thing becomes. I believe there's something today about him leaving scraps of raw meat inside her nightdress. (Sky news)
No evidence, of course.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 21/07/2020 11:17

The only people benefitting from this whole palaver are the lawyers. I think the judge should take pity on both of them and sentence them to doing a remake of The War of the Roses with Johnny in the Michael Douglas role and Amber in the Kathleen Turner one.

It would be cathartic for them and they could make some dosh.

I wonder if Danny DeVito is free ...

roo2018 · 21/07/2020 11:19

Yes, like how she admitted to hitting him and mocking him for being a male victim, because he would vomit every night. Makes sense Hmm

Iwalkinmyclothing · 21/07/2020 11:28

This unwillingness to believe AH's allegations is a typically patriarchal response to an unlikeable woman making claims against a far more popular man.

And the unwillingness to believe JD's version of event is... what?

I don't understand how any of us can be as sure as many people seem to be that they knew the truth of what has and hasn't happened. Why assume JD is the one at fault? Why assume AH is the one at fault? None of us were there and we don't know.

I'm not unwilling to believe either: on balance so far I am more inclined to believe him than her but I don't think he's coming out of this as a great example of a human being and the thought of being in a relationship with either is deeply unpleasant.
