Amber Heard & Johnny Depp....Your thoughts?

I have seen this in the news over the past couple of days and wasn't really sure what to think. It sounds to me like a very volatile relationship and it may be that they are both abusers. Or at the least they are completely incompatible with each other.

Today I noticed that Amber Heard was walking into court and she had a scarf around her face. Then she removed the scarf and smiled for everyone and waved and seemed to enjoy the cameras being there. It's just an observation but maybe the accusations of her being a narcissist could be accurate? Or is she maybe trying to put a brave face on it all under what must be a very stressful situation for all concerned?

Johnny Depp kept his mask on but was also waving for the cameras I should add.

Anyway, I'm well aware it's none of my business really, it was just something I had thought about after seeing the news today and wondered what others thought!

I agree Cecile. That recording was desperate and harrowing and tragic.
The circumstances around how it was obtained are equally chilling.

I'm amazed JD is still with us by all accounts.

Does anyone on this thread remember a thread years back where the OP was claiming that they were working in the inner circle of a very very famous actor and they have a clue that the celeb in question, wore nail varnish?
It was one of those annoying threads where e writhing pointed to it being JD but she obviously couldn’t/wouldn’t conform it.
I’d love to find it and see if it was around the time that JD and AH were together.

AH had obtained a restraining order against JD. Some time after this but before the divorce she begged and begged him to meet her for a 'chat' in a hotel room to talk things over. He eventually relented and met her.

They talked for some hours and then she said she was tired and needed to go to bed and would he join her? He said no. She said she needed a cuddle. He said no.

She was recording the entire thing. The 'cutting' tape is an excerpt of that. What if he'd got into bed with her?

The whole thing is terrifying.

I agree. I don’t know how anyone can even take a side in this case! It’s very clear they have BOTH been abusive to each other in a variety of different ways. They are both coming out of this looking vile, and completely toxic.

I don't even understand how there are so many recordings. I might have seen how there were a couple in the anger but there seems to be so many

I don't find the cutting thing odd at all, he's an actor, drama, melodrama!! Gothic.

It's not very different to being whipped etc although here it was attention seeking. I would have said, do it yourself and walked off. Called the bluff.

How can anyone ever prove he didn't or did hit her?

Her bruises are odd. Maybe I bruise easily but I knocked my leg and have an enormous bruise. The descriptions of the fights I would imagine more bruising?
My dd accidently got headbutted at a toddler group and she had two shiners.
. The whole thing is odd.

He's so Clearly out of control on drugs and alcohol though.. How could it be proved other wise.

Closed hearings only happen in the Court of Protection and for some parts of trials where there is extremely sensitive evidence in terms of national security. It’s a criminal offence to do certain things in a court, such as recording a video or taking photos (hence the existence of courtroom artists and the conviction of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon) but otherwise open justice prevails, space permitting of course.

@Windyjuly the cutting isn’t odd, he’s obviously extremely self-destructive but it’s not just attention-seeking, trust me. It’s an awful thing to hear. As for the recordings, my parents used to record each other during particularly dreadful fights. It’s spectacularly grim. I don’t usually follow celebrity stuff at all but this is a) law which I love and b) in so many respects dreadful and close to home.

It's great to hear from someone who has real knowledge of the process. Sorry to hear about your parents' volatile relationship. My upbringing was very violent too and I was exposed to too much from a young age. Perhaps past experiences like this give a warped viewpoint but nothing in these recordings or transcripts is particularly surprising or shocking. Just very sad and bleak. The cutting thing, to me, is reminiscent of the feeling that he's exhausted every debauchery and every possible high. The only way to really feel a thrill is to be cut, it's like a last taboo. And of course he's likkely off his face at the time and just talking shit. Either way, it's all very grim. I'm grateful to have my dreams shattered and discover that depp is, actually very much human and that riches and fame doesn't make sex and drugs and nihilism any more glamorous when in a luxury apartment using your vip Amex black card to cut up your very clean coke.

I’m so sorry famous. And thank you everyone, I love talking about law and the legal system so it’s a real pleasure, despite the unpleasantness of the case itself. It’s all just really sad. The drug use doesn’t even really strike me as a thrill there have been several references to it as numbing and self-medication (on both sides) and to me it just reads like that. So much pain.

Famous same.
I actually fell in love with a man very similar, in looks, in film industry but massive addict at the time..
I would have had to deal with man child and all that goes with it. Its very very sad and his mum died around this time. To think ah mum died recently too.

In this situation I think with obvious massive issues on BOTH sides they should have put out joint statement... Both to blame, I hit him, he was addict nightmare... End of.
