Amber Heard & Johnny Depp....Your thoughts?

I have seen this in the news over the past couple of days and wasn't really sure what to think. It sounds to me like a very volatile relationship and it may be that they are both abusers. Or at the least they are completely incompatible with each other.

Today I noticed that Amber Heard was walking into court and she had a scarf around her face. Then she removed the scarf and smiled for everyone and waved and seemed to enjoy the cameras being there. It's just an observation but maybe the accusations of her being a narcissist could be accurate? Or is she maybe trying to put a brave face on it all under what must be a very stressful situation for all concerned?

Johnny Depp kept his mask on but was also waving for the cameras I should add.

Anyway, I'm well aware it's none of my business really, it was just something I had thought about after seeing the news today and wondered what others thought!

Is there a jury? Not sure how these types of cases work.

EachandEveryone · 10/07/2020 12:37

Can someone tell me how they get hold of text from years ago?

TinySongstress · 10/07/2020 12:51

Yes, staff, ex-staff other professionals are being called to the witness stand.

Phone records can be requested by the court and obtained. I don't know the technicalities of this but I believe there were some 70,000 texts analysed as part of this trial.

TinySongstress · 10/07/2020 12:51

There is no jury in this case, just Judge Nichol.

The case to be heard in America will have a jury.

I read some interviews with Keith Richards as I didnt understand how he was still alive lol.

Interestingly- he says he was meticulous with dosage. Basically, he said he'd take enough drugs to get high and then he would always stop. That was enough for him. He said the difference with others is that they would get high and always want to get more high, so they would take more and more and more. He never did. He always stopped once he achieved what he wanted to. This is what he says saved him.

He also said that they had the money to buy the best quality gear and that contributed to them not having too many problems. Having said that, Jagger has had a serious heart op which may be a sign of chickens coming home to roost.

@JosephineDeBeauharnais

Yes, and a doctor is also quoted as saying "he has the constitution of an ox"! He's like one of those people who stubbornly smokes 50 a day yet still lives to age 90! He's definitely an exception rather than the rule.

What's this case? Is it similar to this one, defamation?

EachandEveryone · 10/07/2020 14:09

Jagger is nearly 80 isnt he? And still fathering children so
I hardly think it’s a case of chickens coming home to roost. He was never a hard core user anyway.

Yes. He is suing Heard over an article she wrote for the Washington Post claiming she was a domestic abuse victim.

that hand holding with sister/GF/lawyer made me want to vomit.

This annoyed me too, so bloody affected 🙄

Feenie · 10/07/2020 16:01

He claims it lost him the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

^ when you see it laid out like this, it does strike me as bizarre Depp decided to pursue this legal case, but maybe it is in a bid to try put him in good stead for the next case..

I'd missed the part about Ellen Barkin testifying that he had thrown a bottle at her (someone he had a sexual relationship with whilst filming Fear & Loathing). Found that part interesting as till now I wasn't aware of anything other than the smashed hotel room & a paparazzi clash.

Totickleamockingbird · 10/07/2020 17:52

Right, so the newstes thing is he asked Heard to cut him. With a knife. That’s some seriously deranged behaviour.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 10/07/2020 18:12

Keith Richards is the one all us people who abuse our bodies use to convince ourselves that the warnings don't apply to us, because look at Keef, he's battered himself for years and he's fine. Back in my partying days I ignored the millions of people who had died thanks to doing what I was doing because that didn't support my desire to continue imbibing whatever the heck I fancied, and focussed instead on the Keiths and Lemmys as if they were the rule rather than the exception. Depp sees Keith as a hero because he needs to believe that he, too, can take shitloads of drink and drugs for years and be just fine, not because he genuinely admires him.

Still think both Depp and Heard are coming across as pretty shitty people tbh.

Russellbrandshair · 10/07/2020 18:13

Yup except that he looks like a prunes wallet 😆

covetingthepreciousthings · 10/07/2020 18:16

Grin
Iwalkinmyclothing · 10/07/2020 18:26

@Russellbrandshair Hahaha that is the best description of him I have ever heard, I am going to shoehorn it into as many conversations as possible this weekend

Windyjuly · 10/07/2020 18:35

Oh god, they will go over all this again? In the states?

Police officer specialising in dv testified today saying she left. Apparently she searched a flat.

Jd actually had 5 apartments in the building!

I'm looking at all the apartments... It's a beautiful building, art deco, strange place.

I like it but not sure I could live there.
I wonder how they divided their time with the huge mansion?.. I'm quite fascinated by how people can live like that. Where are all the main papers?

ArriettyJones · 10/07/2020 18:38

Police officer specialising in dv testified today saying she left. Apparently she searched a flat.

Sorry, what? An (American?) police officer specialising in DV testified that AH left JD? Who searched where?

Windyjuly · 10/07/2020 18:44

Amber heard, whatever she is or isn't has clearly had an awful time dealing with an addict and she's just lost her mum.
I imagine that loss will be felt very keenly here and facing a barrage of reporters, facing her ex husband etc, who can blame her for holding hands?!!

Windyjuly · 10/07/2020 18:47

Sorry that was jumbled.

A police officer testified that she was called to penthouse after the phone throwing incident to see ah.

Apparently she said she saw no signs of wounds on ah but concurred she had redness on her face...

Ah didn't want to talk to her and she recons she searched the flat and saw no violence?

But jd has 5 flats there all used as one mansion.

She was there for 20 mins max.

There was suggestion that she knew an ex lap officer who I think is jd security.

Windyjuly · 10/07/2020 18:53

Jd is clearly in crisis re the drugs.

Ah said many times his people had to clean him up. Its really sad.. He needs help.

Ah such a young girl at the time dealing with a hugely enabled major addict.

covetingthepreciousthings · 10/07/2020 18:59

Has Johnny Depp managed to kick the drug habit at all since all this?

I know he's been touring with his band The Hollywood Vampires and I believe Alice Cooper is quite clean living now so maybe a good influence? Maybe..

UmbrellaHat · 10/07/2020 19:02

My god it is amazing that he was prepared to let all this stuff come out in court! Even if anyone remembered what The Sun said (????) silence would've surely been better. Very poorly advised by his lawyers.
