@Worldgonecrazy That is hilarious!

bookworm14 · 03/07/2020 06:47

Checking in.

bookworm14 · 03/07/2020 06:53

I’m in London by the way.

It’s our 10th wedding anniversary today. We were planning a weekend away, but thanks to bastard lockdown our celebrations will be restricted to a slightly posher than usual takeaway.

NannyPhlegm · 03/07/2020 07:28

The National Trust properties in Wales are due to open on Monday. Of course, the website has crashed with the number of people wanting to book. I might have to wait a week or so until the rush dies down, but it's heartening to see others are as sick of this incarceration as I am

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 03/07/2020 07:36

@Allnamesaregone Perth council yesterday revealed with a flourish their redesigned one-way pedestrian system in notoriously overcrowded mega-cities such as Blairgowrie, dunkeld and Perth itself. As rocking horse shit is more common then covid in P&K, it’s been met with tears of laughter and derision.

I dread to think what’s going to happen to council tax as they’ve been fire-hosing cash since this thing started.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 03/07/2020 07:41

South East here (next to Kent) *waves at Kent people

DH's birthday tomorrow, I'm trying to persuade him to go to the pub!

maggienolia · 03/07/2020 07:48

Checking in and raising the flag for East Anglia (South Cambridgeshire).
Local news today has the non headline that 'Cambridge is not at risk of local lockdown".
No shit Sherlock.

Our holiday to Scotland at the end of August is currently still going ahead. We are thinking about buying an SNP car sticker and putting I ❤️ Nicola in the back window to escape the border dementors with their pitchforks and carbolic spray. Do we stand any chance?

SeagoingSexpot · 03/07/2020 07:51

Yo ADs, I've been too busy with work to keep up or to post substantively. Still here, still anti-dementing all over. Had an indoor play date yesterday.

Cattermole · 03/07/2020 07:52

Ooooo who was it who was coming down to Cornwall imminently on their hols? The Eden Project is now OPEN!!!!

I've got one of them scarves too @littlbrowndog - tbf I acquired it from late OH who thought it looked edgy and had one in red as well.

RubberDinghyRapids · 03/07/2020 08:00

Not imminently... but we have a week booked for September. We did the Eden Project a few years ago but found it a bit preachy (sorry!). The tortoise sanctuary up the road was far better but they're not allowed to open to visitors now as they couldn't afford the zoo licence Sad We can't afford EP anyway so our days out are always NT as my mum gets us an annual pass for birthday/Christmas gift. Hoping we can get tickets for our usual faves like Glendurgan (?sp).

Cattermole · 03/07/2020 08:07

I hate all the preachy stuff in EP Dinghy but I do love the Med biome - they've started growing some very weird chillies in there lately!

  • and the frogs and geckoes who live in the rain forest biome are sooooooo cute....
(We get a locals pass in October so it's a cheap day out for us)
BlackberryViolet · 03/07/2020 08:16

Nanny, thanks for reminding me! I’d forgotten that as it’s Friday it should have been my usual pointless try to get National Trust tickets. Just got Benningbrough tickets for next weekend!! Finally. Couldn’t get Gibside or anywhere else but happy with those. Just hope it’s not pissing downSmile

trappedsincesundaymorn · 03/07/2020 08:25

Morning all from deepest, darkest Somerset.

bookworm14 · 03/07/2020 08:29

We are booked to go to the Isles of Scilly in August. Hoping the locals don’t chase us away with pitchforks and flaming torches. We do have family there though, so perhaps that makes our murderous visit more acceptable.

MaudesMum · 03/07/2020 08:32

South West here (Somerset). No plans to go to the pub this weekend, mainly because my favourite one is taking time to work out how to open - very little outdoor space, quite small rooms, so its not going to be easy for them. Hopefully I'll be able to persuade some friends to meet in a country pub with beer garden soon. I do wish the Government hadn't decided to open pubs on Saturday - the press is going to be all over any misbehaviour, and it'll be like Bournemouth beach all over again.

NothingIsWrong · 03/07/2020 08:32

My Mum is coming to stay today. On the upside she will babysit so we can go and murder people in the pub. On the downside, a visit from my Mum requires the pub to be tolerable...

Ibake · 03/07/2020 08:37

Morning my lovelies! The attached Sky news headline has properly pissed me off this morning. Where do they poll these people, I have never been asked my views on anything! How on earth is the figure as high as 8/10?

ADs getting ready
InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 03/07/2020 08:41

8/10 people who have internet access and keep roughly abreast with current affairs are “making memories (in their big houses)” and “living their best life (on big salaries)”.

People in the poverty line are too busy working to put food on the table to answer questionnaires and know their opinions count for shit anyway. Better not ask them anyway in case they say something off piste.

KaronAVyrus · 03/07/2020 08:41

I’d love to know where we’d get the money to pay for a second lockdown anyway.

Mascotte · 03/07/2020 08:41

@maggienolia good plan! I'd also recommend a sticker with a Scotland flag and the word "AYE"

Interestingly, opinion in my neck of the woods is not universally pro masks. Some people questioning their merits, why now, saying it's about control and saying they'll just avoid shops.

I'll never be able to persuade DS to go to NTS property if there's not a tea room open 😂 but good luck to all trying to get tickets.

Lickyicelollies · 03/07/2020 08:43

Good morning from Glasgow! Hungover this morning; was drinking last night to forget the dystopia and all the other shit going on in my life which worked a treat. Shame its temporary.

Am contemplating taking the kids into Glasgow city centre on the train tomorrow just for something to do. Maybe go in the shops before government muzzles become compulsory (although I'll have to wear one on the train, its only a 20 minute journey). Am I crazy? Will the queues and social distancing police just make me wish I'd stayed at home?

Ibake · 03/07/2020 08:48

I've now read the article and think they're either a) lying or b) 'super Saturday' is going to be really pleasant tomorrow and we'll be able to really enjoy ourselves as these people aren't shopping, eating, drinking, travelling, holidaying etc etc. Oh, and women much more cautious - they've not met us lot have they?!

Orangeblossom78 · 03/07/2020 08:51

SW here (Bath & NE Somerset) awaiting little coffee shop nearby to open (it is just doing outside tables and takeaway to start with) tomorrow sadly weather is not looking great. Planning on trying to do some yoga today. Thankfully DH has gone into work (he survived his Bedford trip the other day) so will not be fussing about the lack of home schooling and just generally being grumpy so that is good)

Drivingdownthe101 · 03/07/2020 08:53

Urgh. Another day.

NothingIsWrong · 03/07/2020 08:59

I've just sneezed a mouthful of bagel all over my keyboard. This seems somehow symbolic of my life right now. A goddam mess, almost impossible to clean up.

Might go and have a tantrum instead of working.
