Sorry it’s a bit of a lame title.

@torydeathdrug

I just want to leave. I am desperate to leave this depressing petty country full of nasty stupid tossers. I have never felt like that before, it’s disturbing.
I was speaking to the boyf about this, and thinking Germany tends to do, well, everything so much better. He is often driven to distraction by life in the UK, however said "Yes but in Germany your neighbours report you to the council if you don't sweep your bit of pavement regularly enough".

Perhaps Germany isn't for me either.

PickAChew · 04/07/2020 21:24

@BarkandCheese

A huge cheer just went up from the pub which backs onto the houses opposite me. I didn’t ever think I’d miss the noisy pub but honestly it’s nice to hear it back to life.
But... But... You're supposed to talk in hushed tones, on the pub, so you don't spread the virus and murder everyone Shock

(and I've only just twigged how to quote a post.)

Orangeblossom78 · 04/07/2020 21:28

I don't think most people are dementors though. Maybe it is skewed if they are online and makes it seem like that. Just stick to the ones who build you up and avoid the negativity. Also things will improve. It really felt normal here today. Even the buskers are back. The Roman baths is opening next week after a deep clean and free to residents. I understand the uncertainty as well in particular for us who depend on schools and it is unsettling.

Willow2017 · 04/07/2020 21:30

Just a heads up.
If anyone is going for a sit down meal or coffee or pint...you don't have to fill in a form eith your details if you dont want to share confidential info. And they can let you in for sit down eal/coffee etc without it. Got an update at work😀

NannyPhlegm · 04/07/2020 21:33

@PickAChew How DO you quote text?! It's been driving me insane figuring it out. And failing, obviously

Orangeblossom78 · 04/07/2020 21:33

That reminds me about cash. . In the cafe today rather eccentric friend of mils who is a clinical psychologist randomly spotted a penny in the cafe floor and excitedly picked it up exclaiming Find a penny pick it up all the day you'll have good luck! Got a couple of looks askance. Made me smile the total lack of worry about cash there! Smile

It's under the three dots 🤣

BogRollBOGOF · 04/07/2020 21:43

We need a name soon.

There's been a few appropriate comments today.

I've quite enjoyed today. My run killed the best part of 3 hours and it was lovely to see normality creep back. Going to the park and seeing open playgrounds was great.
The bogrolls were chatting to a random child about Minecraft for a while.

It's felt quite normal for a weekend. Real normal.

Park cafe still cash only! I was surprised that they haven't made the change. They've missed out on at least ££ from me over the years when I haven't had cash and no ATM within at least a mile. I bought my crisps and coke a bit further on at a village shop. The advantage of not using cash when running is avoiding the small change jingle.

DominaShantotto · 04/07/2020 21:44

Well I feel a load better for the normality of the hairdressers- and the 90 year old before me practically skipping out of there with glee had obviously had a similar experience!

justasking111 · 04/07/2020 21:44

I just knew my friend would dement about the pub in the village opening and sure enough she did. Exhausted doctors and nurses will be overwhelmed by drunks tonight apparently. Sheesh.

Orangeblossom78 · 04/07/2020 21:50

I have started feeling more angry with these dementors and refusing to let any of it get to me. I'm going to try and make the most of things opening and let go of any dementoring thoughts making their way into my head.

Considering most A&Es have been empty for weeks I bet they will be glad of something to do!
justasking111 · 04/07/2020 22:02

Just amused myself looking at pub pictures in the DM. Some seriously dodgy haircuts, plenty of dark roots showing too. Some men have managed to get interesting cuts. I wonder if any of them had trouble getting into their party clothes today, mine do not fit at the moment.

Newcastle the gift that keeps on giving photo wise Grin

MinesaPinot · 04/07/2020 22:06

We went round to friends today. Drank wine indoors and got a takeaway on the way home. So normal and so lovely.

Nihiloxica · 04/07/2020 22:08

I can't seem to make plans or decisions any more, I keep putting everything off. It's not that I CBA as such, just seem stuck...

So much this.

@MinesaPinot I've been spending time with friends and it has been cool, but I'm still lost.

RubberDinghyRapids · 04/07/2020 22:15

Someone on an earlier thread (sorry I can't remember who) coined the phrase "the perpetual present" and I've been using it a lot.

I'd quite like to live in Germany Grin DH and I both agreed it would be our first choice. I love their attitude to alcohol and Sundays.

HesterShaw1 · 04/07/2020 22:17

Ah we should have a murderous get together. Wouldnt that be fun? With wine, and anyone with a baby can bring them along so we can all have a sniff and a cuddle

Dowser · 04/07/2020 22:29

Oh god yes definitely feel like I’ve been in limbo.
There’s something seriously wrong ( with me) when I look forward to a trip to the dentists ..as it feels normal.

If I do one thing in a day it’s an achievement.
Yesterday after the dentist, I drove to docs for prescription, swung by daughters for a car chat ( her dh is working in the kitchen, too chilly to sit in garden) then into town for muesli stuff, a wad of cash from post office, took dh for a walk along the beach and then came home and did some gardening while he cooked tea.

Jeez..all that in one day..bloody miracle.

Today , came to caravan. It actually felt like normal..met up with our neighbours..fed chickens., had a few skirmishes on fb with a few dementors..it just feels normal.

I hope my bubble isn’t burst tomorrow

.

@justasking111

The welsh really are batshit, eating outdoors table service from 13th, closing railway stations because platforms too short, pedestrianising the towns so people can shop safely, Powys police patrolling the borders to stop welsh escaping for a pint this weekend.

Noddy and Mr. Plod running the country at the moment.

I think that you are being puppetist/cartoonist against mr plod and noddy. Mr Plod and Noddy are outstanding forward thinking, entrepreneurial masters of business skills compared to Dickford. He was described as having given a blistering response to Boris. I replied he's as blistering as a tepid cup of tea. I know and have seen many Welsh people who have escaped to Hereford for a pint of Guinness. Photos on Facebook. Go wales run away from that tedious self righteous tosspot.

I need to know what the German attitude to alcohol and Sundays is. Please. Never been to Germany.
Wishfulthinking1977 · 04/07/2020 22:49

@hester I can bring a baby!! 🤣🤣My dd1 is very keen to socialise her little one and funnily enough expose him to germs as this as we all know boosts immunity!! Mad isn't she! 😂(she's definitely not an anti vaxer BTW) I agree with the limbo thing, I feel like I'm living in some dystopia horror film! Not helped by the fact both myself and dd2 suffer with terrible anxiety which was well on its way to being virtually irradiated before lock down! I also find not sure if anyone else does? That most people I know that are really negative are those I always found highly rational and intelligent! Bizarre that they now only listen to the negativity and don't read any further than a headline! Xx

MinesaPinot · 04/07/2020 22:52

@Nihiloxica. I do understand. There's still this underlying feeling that something still feels off.

We're going to see my mum tomorrow for the first time really since March (apart from the blip when we had to do what we feared was a mercy run when she mucked up her phone - long story). Another step towards a bit of normality.

TheGreatWave · 04/07/2020 22:57

Is it Germany where you can't use any tools on a Sunday (lawnmowers etc) and possibly no washing on the line?

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 04/07/2020 23:06

Those rules sound suspiciously like roolz (the second one, anyway).
TuckMyWin · 04/07/2020 23:09

@Drivingdownthe101

I never use cash. DD1 lost 5 teeth in lockdown and I only had £2 on me, so every time she lost another one I had to get it out of her money box and give it back to her Blush. I wouldn’t like to see a cashless society though. Jealous of all the people in the pub! I have done 5 nights without booze but having a gin and tonic tonight (probably just the one as DH’s gin measures are about half a pint!). I atoned for my alcohol sin in advance with my first run in probably around 12 years.
I'm sorry, but this really made me laugh 😆 The only reason I had pre- lockdown for cash was our cleaner and the seemingly endless requests from the school for £2 for non uniform day/bake sale/harvest festival/world book day/insert other random low level extortion here. It was a shock to the system having to find cash when our lovely cleaner started work again! Our youngest is yet to lose teeth but it can't be far off so maybe I should start storing pound coins now!
