Checking in here.

BogRollBOGOF · 02/07/2020 20:36

Fortunately the DCs' school has a simple, flexible uniform. Basically white top, grey bottom half, school colour jumpers/ cardigans. My two had cardigans in the early years as the neckhole on the sweatshirt was too snug for his head Grin Not a problem these days as he eschews any kind of jumper and wears a polo shirt and shorts all year.

Secondary is my worry. All schools within 10 miles have gone down the starchy blazer/ tie route... I was hoping we could get progress on an EHCP to facilitate secondary transition but here we are on the cusp of y5 where he won't have seen a teacher in nearly 6 months. Confused
I am genuinely concerned about his ability to wear a secondary uniform with full trousers, plastic collar and blazer (I loathed blazers myself. Ridiculous things.) Plus there's the upgrade in oganisation required, adjusting to umpteen teachers/ classrooms and class combinations.

His school is quite cosy, one class intake and he got lucky with his class. The Senco is a wet blanket, but she's just gone on mat leave... the teachers usually good. He copes in school... I get the flack at home...

covigilantes

^^I have just picked up this little gem from our previous thread. Pure gold.

thenightsky · 02/07/2020 20:39

Took my 79 year old friend out for a run in the car today. She's been shielding and 'banged up' indoors with her vulnerable 90 year old husband, who has dementia and prostate cancer. I told her I wanted some stuff from Lidl and she could wait in the car if she was afraid. Bless her, she came in with me, got all flustered over wiping trolley handles, but almost wept at the sight of racks of fresh fruit and veg. She filled a big trolley!

Hi all 👋

Feeling crappy today. Took my toddler to a friend’s garden this morning. He screamed the place down every time she or her children went near him. He’s not a cryer usually, he was just petrified as he hasn’t seen anyone except us for months and months. Same story when I took him to the Co-op. He’s just starting to tolerate my mum again now she’s in our ‘bubble’, but it’s taken him weeks to start going near her properly.
I know he’s young and he’ll forget about all this, but it’s really shit. He was such a sociable little thing before lockdown.

ISaySteadyOn · 02/07/2020 20:44

@TrustTheGeneGenie, you're welcome! I love words and looking at them.

Drivingdownthe101 · 02/07/2020 20:44

Oh and no plans for the 4th July here either, I’d have to take my filthy little disease vectors with me and I don’t fancy a public lynching!

MagdaS · 02/07/2020 20:45

FML have managed to rip half of one of my eyebrows out doing a DIY eyebrow shape. They need professional assistance.

BakewellTarts · 02/07/2020 20:45

@ILoveTotoro I love Totoro too and most other Studio Ghibli films the more bonkers the better Smile

TheGreatWave · 02/07/2020 20:50

driving sorry to hear about the toddler, give him time, I'm sure he'll bounce back.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/07/2020 20:50

@Orangeblossom78

Hi, just think I have fallen out with family in Scotland again. Going on about how they all have masks and would rather have Nicola than Boris in charge, etc. I messaged back to say what I thought and have not heard further. Hmm. Said she made it feel unfriendly to others outside, possible quarantine and would probably mess up their economy. and it felt like a dictatorship!

How do people get so passive and accepting of it all Confused

In case anyone wants to adapt it to Sturgeon...the female version is malakasmene Just saying.
LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/07/2020 20:52

covigilantes love it!

fartingsparkles · 02/07/2020 20:52

No plans for the 4th here, apart from maybe a walk if the weather holds. I don't get to pubs, because of the germ vectors and our favourite restaurant is still closed. Its an independent. They're doing just eat but it's too far to get to us :(

TuckMyWin · 02/07/2020 20:54

Bah. Got sucked in to the schools thread again. What is wrong with me?! It almost got reasonable for a bit. And then the 'no vaccine no schools' fruit-loops showed up again. It really is like playing chess with a pigeon.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/07/2020 20:54

Has anyone else noticed no stats have been released today?
I find it interesting. The dementors in my life are seeing it as proof that the govt are hiding stuff from us so the pubs can open.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/07/2020 20:56

Though the ons are now estimating 25k cases so a 1 in 2600 chance of someone having it....

LivinLaVidaLoki · 02/07/2020 20:57

Cases in the community should say.

SeaOtterFluff · 02/07/2020 20:58

I'm leaving my disease vectors (they are all older teenagers) on 4th July and I'm going to away in a caravan for 4 nights. I'm so ready for a break, even if it only means doing my knitting in a different location! It was planned back in January so I'm pleased that Boris has allowed it to happen.

MinesaPinot · 02/07/2020 21:02

Blimey a new thread already?!

AnxiousElephant77 · 02/07/2020 21:03

For the love of God why haven't they released the figures? I had no idea how over invested I was in the daily numbers until now.

BakewellTarts · 02/07/2020 21:05

I favour cock up rather than conspiracy theory.

But also we don't get daily (Non sadly) death figures on everything so I wonder if it would be better if they stopped with Covid? The figures are nonsense anyway.

Bollss · 02/07/2020 21:08

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Though the ons are now estimating 25k cases so a 1 in 2600 chance of someone having it....
That's pretty reassuring!
Willitneverend · 02/07/2020 21:11

The malakasmene's followers are absolutely wetting their pants about the mask enforcemet. Any comment on social media along the lines that someone has asthma or some other health issue that'd make it difficult to wear one has someone else appear claiming to have the same issue saying they'll happily wear one if it means nobody dies of covid. I'd bet quite a lot of money on it being cybernat accounts.

DominaShantotto · 02/07/2020 21:11

I have hairdressers booked for the 4th!

Willow2017 · 02/07/2020 21:11

Crikey another new thread!

Well it gets worse here! Grin When our cafes open we have to wear plastic visors! Oh JFOTTFSOFTFOSM! 7 Miles of perspex between tables, distancing and still we need to wear masks! Even when in the kitchen cooking as we can be seen! There are pages of rules we have to follow when taking plates to the table, its like we are handling nuclear waste ffs! We have to take the punters details too but say if there are 4 of them only one needs to fill in the form and say 4 people were there! Whats the fecking point? Are customers having to wear visors? No. JMHO but if you decide that you wanna 'risk life and limb' going for a meal WHERE OTHER PEOPLE WILL BE then the staff shouldn't have to be trussed up to accommodate you! Oh I cant wait... Getting training tomorrow I am ecstatic about that too.

To add insult to injury my pc is screwed because of fecking Microsoft so I need to GALMI asap.

Didnt get caught up on last thread so hope everything going well as possible in these difficult times (vomit) with everyone.

Wheres the wine?
