@RubberDinghyRapids

Checking in. Wearing my running gear but still firmly wedged on the sofa. Told DH I was going but under no illusions that it would be good. He said not to bother and go in the morning so off came the trainers. I have no bloody resolve.

I joined a C25K thread but am too ashamed to even read it until I've gotten back out there Blush

I've started a thread about getting off my butt in July as June was my laziest month ever!

RubberDinghyRapids · 02/07/2020 21:16

I'm not northeast, think I may have mentioned the outlaws who are though.... I'm from near where the Brummie's like to spread their germs by having a day off Wink

torydeathdrug · 02/07/2020 21:16

the whole UK hospital deaths is 45, which is less than yesterday - I don't think there will be a massive increase in out of hospital deaths. Suppose it's feasible that cases have gone up (loads more testing in higher prevalence areas?) but I doubt they'd try to hide that - more likely to use it as a stern warning to behave. The ONS report this morning was reassuring.

Bollss · 02/07/2020 21:16

I'm North East too ( Yorkshire)

amicissimma · 02/07/2020 21:17

The thing I think is odd about things like public toilets is that we've always had some quite nasty diseases about. Typhoid is rare but we have the odd case, cholera is a possibility, there's always a bit of hepatitis about and there is the occasional case of polio picked up from the faeces of someone (generally a baby) who's just had the sugar lump. There's also norovirus, salmonella, meningitis, etc, etc, even though we have vaccinations against the worst.

Toilets need to be kept clean enough that all manner of diseases aren't spread, so why is it apparently Very Very Hard to clean them well enough to stop Covid spreading? Why can we only use alternate cubicles, although adjacent ones are fine when there's 'flu about, even in a year when the vaccine isn't very effective, or meningitis, or glandular fever? And why, for many councils, is it better that people's excrement is deposited around the local area, rather than in toilets, which the public know to be careful around?

Teateaandmoretea · 02/07/2020 21:17

I have some news and a confession to make .... I went for a covid test earlier. Just felt slightly off with what felt like slightly off temperature (DH found our thermometer after I’d booked but I don’t trust it tbh it’s shit anyway). Anyway just received my negative result 10 hours later, slightly baffled by the Times going on about how long test results take 😂. Am so relieved was petrified even though I didn’t really have any watertight symptoms (mainly of the whole family 14 day self isolation tbf rather than covid itself)

The test is horrible though, just gross

BakewellTarts · 02/07/2020 21:17

@Willow2017 Wine

mightbealittlebitmad · 02/07/2020 21:18

I'm technically in the West Midlands but only just, I'm actually closer to East Midlands really.

RubberDinghyRapids · 02/07/2020 21:18

@Willow2017
That sounds UTTERLY FUCKING BONKERS. Visors in a hot kitchen sounds particularly fun.

Willow2017 · 02/07/2020 21:19

P.S. I m in Sconnie Botland.

Littlebelina · 02/07/2020 21:19

@Willow2017 I'm imagining you doing training in full ppe with a steamed up visor and not being able to understand anything that's said because of masks! Seems a bit overkill doesn't it!

Dowser · 02/07/2020 21:22

Also, I missed all the posts where I’d posted my friend Nic’s octopus enhanced green glass bottle.
ShoDan, you said you’d love to see more of her stuff
She’s on fb as Alta ego. Her shop is a proper treasure trove.
I think she has a video on there.
Learnt some lovely stuff with her, didn’t quite get away with seed beads , but I made a lovely sea glass necklace for my daughter, how to wire wrap crystals, using macrame to make semi precious gem necklaces, She told us to where to collect sea glass..so very generous of her ( seaham) over 100 years ago, there was a glass factory and they used to throw the waste into the sea and it still gets washed up on the beaches, Acrylic pours, beaten copper pendants, enhancing an ordinary jotter
This is mine
Using fimo to make all kinds of things.
Wish she still was allowed to hold her classes, but we got about three years with her, so didnt fade too badly

Anyway I'm feeling reasonably cheerful as I've just read that Castle Howard are reopening their big new adventure playground from the 4th. The DCs will explode with excitement!

thenightsky · 02/07/2020 21:26

I'm East Midlands - North Lincolnshire - near Scunthorpe.

BarkandCheese · 02/07/2020 21:26

I’m south east (Kent).

Had some nice news today, DD won first place in a writing competition. It wasn’t run by her school but she entered through the school iykwim. She’s won some books and her school have won books for the library and an author visit. It’s really given her a boost, she even got a congratulations email from her very scary HT.

We have a regular customer who wears a mask. I cant understand a bloody word he says I am always asking him to repeat things or just nodding long with them. Then they take their coffee and go sit somewhere and take off their mask to use phone and drink their coffee with people passing by every 3 minutes! I am getting hard of hearing these days and masks dont help a bit.
Then we have all the faff over using reusable cups...we arent supposed to touch them but some of them wont fit under the spouts without leaning them slightly..customers are baffled by the faff with slates and say they dont care as they see us washing our hands all the time. You couldnt make it up!

Ibake · 02/07/2020 21:27

Evening all. Busy day today so not checked in much. Outlaws, son and gf came for dinner. I'm NW, Cheshire but not that far from some of the N Wales crew I think. Anyone know what's up with the sadly daily deaths today. Can't see them anywhere?

CruCru · 02/07/2020 21:27

I’m in the Isle of Wight.
