(based on the new guidance the stuff being demented about on here)

IAintentDead · 03/07/2020 17:37

@Nihiloxica added you

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 03/07/2020 17:42

@110APiccadilly wonder if the late born children was some sort of financial thing? I remember reading about a US civil war soldier who’d been entitled to government payments which were transferable so in his 80s or something he’d married a teenager and the child was still getting payments 100+ years after the war.

My GF was 1909 and I was early 70s.

Orangeblossom78 · 03/07/2020 17:45

I was reading that young people i think late teens to late 20s/30s are most anxious about this virus even though least at risk

it made me think are some people on MN quite young?

Orangeblossom78 · 03/07/2020 17:46

There's one saying they won't see their boyfriend for weeks because he is going out to the pub tomorrow

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 03/07/2020 17:51

Omfg I’m crying at something MorrisZapp has said on a demented thread. 😂

justasking111 · 03/07/2020 17:52

OH parents held off on marriage until after the war so his mum was 37 when she had her first baby 43 when she had her third. She did have a series of nervous breakdown was in a home for a time on and off. PND or PTSD we will never know now.

justasking111 · 03/07/2020 17:54

OH will not let it go, googled like mad to find someone who disagreed with ONS. give me strength.

Caveman diet smugness. I had a glass of wine with lunch he gave up wine last night. In the car this afternoon said I stank of booze he did not know how pub landlords could stand it.

Just keep me away from the sharp knife drawer.

ISaySteadyOn · 03/07/2020 17:56

@Orangeblossom78, that sounds great about your schools. I wish our primary would do the same.

Where are you all finding info about playgrounds because my council website says nothing ?

NannyPhlegm · 03/07/2020 17:56

So, on Rishi Sunak's Insta right now is the government's latest promotional video

Their new 3-word slogan is Enjoy Summer Safely

NannyPhlegm · 03/07/2020 17:57

It's a real upbeat optimistic video. Completely non dementory. Sturgeon and Dripford are going to swallow themselves whole in fury Grin

LivinLaVidaLoki · 03/07/2020 18:05

I'll catch up with the thread shortly.
My presentation went ok.

However my relative in Greece took her dog for a walk this afternoon and discovered that the hotel we are staying in.....closed. Not opening at all this summer.
We are due to travel in 5 weeks and not heard a peep from first choice. We only know our hotel is shut so our holiday will be cancelled because my relative walked her dog.
So when were they planning on telling us?!

torydeathdrug · 03/07/2020 18:06

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane 🤣🤣🤣 that line almost makes the covid board worth it!

Am highly amused by Rishi’s valiant anti dementoring ... it’s going to drive them mental.

Dd is on her way home from work ... they were vv busy with a croquette tournament (fortunately it has only just started raining) ... opening properly tomorrow!

I quit the family doom-zoom so am feeling no urge to drink myself into oblivion tonight 😃

Considering booking a non-UK centre parc ... it’s pretty much the only holiday ds1 can cope with but no point in going here if the pool is closed.

torydeathdrug · 03/07/2020 18:08

Oh I’m Reading in case I haven’t mentioned it 20 or 30 times 😉 ... best Shit Town in the country!

Spudlet · 03/07/2020 18:09

I’m now totes emosh about that video, even though I am a cynical old bag who worked in politics waaaaay too long to trust any politician further than I could throw them (and I was definitely not in the netball team) Blush

Our local forestry commission big site is reopening everything - up to and including the drop-in axe throwing sessions - except the playground. However! The country parks in the next county over are opening the playgrounds (hold the axes). So guess where we’ll be heading to spend our parking money...

Wishfulthinking1977 · 03/07/2020 18:09

Sw here! Very tourist town, local fb page going into overdrive with dementors screeching about disease ridden tourists bringing the plague with them 🤣🤣 Those of us who work in the trade and politely point out we want/need to work are immediately shot down with cries of selfish bastards!! I can't go a murdering tomorrow as am looking after my daughters infectious demon whilst she finally gets out with her dh after 4 months! X

incognitomum · 03/07/2020 18:12

Getting excited as going on our gadabout tomorrow. Staying in 4 different pubs yurt hotels over a week. Can't wait for a pint of real ale 🍺 Plus booked loads of meals out at favourite places. The economy is getting a boost in Yorkshire and the Lakes Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 03/07/2020 18:14

family doom-zoom yes sounds like something I'd want to miss too. Hope you have a better evening TDD

Orangeblossom78 · 03/07/2020 18:15

pubs yurt hotels sounds interesting! I imagine some kind of tree house for some reason but a teepee tent mixed in!

Mrsfrumble · 03/07/2020 18:16

Oh wow, loads of catching up to do! Will try and read back a pages to see what everyone’s been up to. We’ve just got home from the park, where some —twat— concerned young man told DS, who was innocently swinging off a low branch of a sturdy old yew, to stop it because he was stressing the tree. WTF?? Are children not allowed to do a single bloody thing anymore? I’m disproportionately annoyed!

Mrsfrumble · 03/07/2020 18:18

MN your instruction for strike through are A LIE!!

MinesaPinot · 03/07/2020 18:19

@LivinLaVidaLoki We had the same thing. We were due to go to Greece at the end of August and we heard last weekend from Dutch friends who stay at the same hotel as us that our hotel is not opening this summer. We had an email from Tui yesterday saying that our holiday was not going ahead and offering us options. I've tried to cancel online today, but you get so far and then the page says 'technical difficulties'. Of course you can't get through on the phone either. I'll keep trying.

DH is also for putting the money we get back into the building society. I'm looking at posh laptop bags for when I go back into the office...

MinesaPinot · 03/07/2020 18:19

all for not also

Note to self - spellcheck before posting

110APiccadilly · 03/07/2020 18:21

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane in the case of the person I know, it was just that his dad and grandad both married and had kids fairly late in life. I'm pretty sure there were no financial incentives.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 03/07/2020 18:22

@MinesaPinot its shit isn't it. We've paid 700 quid to move it already and now because the demand is higher the prices have shot up.
