Major Incident in Glasgow

INeedAHol · 26/06/2020 14:09

I can hear nothing but sirens from my flat.

Have read that it appears to be a terrorist attack, but not confirmed. At least 3 dead. Glasgow city centre. Just awful Sad

One thing that always strikes me when I read about the police responding is how quick they were. The police were there within two minutes. Not sure I could make it from the bathroom to the kitchen in two minutes. I honestly don't know how they manage it.

BlueThursday · 26/06/2020 20:37

The grid layout of Glasgow city centre makes it very accessible. There’s a police station down the road too, less than half a mile from where Sky are broadcasting from

StealthPolarBear · 26/06/2020 20:46

Fair enough. But they even seem to do amazing response times even in more rural areas. In the time it'd take me to find my car keys and put my shoes on they're halfway there!

BlueThursday · 26/06/2020 20:48

Definitely!

Monstermuncher · 26/06/2020 20:49

This is so very sad. There have been so many conflicting reports on the news and social media all day and so many people jumping to conclusions about the folk involved

Kinneddar · 26/06/2020 20:50

Not any more theres not. Its long gone

The response time was brilliant. Could have been a far worse situation than it was

BlueThursday · 26/06/2020 20:55

Is it?! Shows how often I go to that end of town!

Kinneddar · 26/06/2020 21:00

if you're thinking of Pitt St its not only closed its demolished 😁

Nicknacky · 26/06/2020 21:02

Sky Need commented on how close it was to Police Scotland HQ!

Nicknacky · 26/06/2020 21:02

News 🤦🏻‍♀️

BlueThursday · 26/06/2020 21:05

Reported many a lost purse to that station in my youth!

YankeeinKingArthursCourt · 26/06/2020 21:19

@ItsInTheShed

Wow, "don't be stupid"? How thoughtful, respectful and not at all goady of you.

Perhaps you need to get a better understanding of what being an asylum seeker means, where people have come from, why they are here and the larger role of the UK in geopolitics.

MissRabbitIsExhausted · 26/06/2020 21:37

@StealthPolarBear I was going to say I'm so impressed with how quickly the police arrived on the scene, I can only imagine how much worse it would have been if they haven't managed to get there so quickly!

Fosler · 26/06/2020 21:37

ItsAllGoingToBeFine. 14.44:
They enjoy a roof over their heads,
3 meals a day,
Basic toiletries,
A laundry service, and,
WiFi!

Poor conditions?
All at the tax payers expense, while we have vulnerable people and our vets sleeping on the streets.

Hhmmmm!

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 26/06/2020 21:44

read the article i linked @Fosler,

AnneOfCreamCables · 26/06/2020 21:58

Was Sky talking about the HQ in the East End? It's about 10 mins from there.

Nicknacky · 26/06/2020 21:59

Anne No, they were talking about Pitt Street.

ItsInTheShed · 26/06/2020 22:00

@YankeeinKingArthursCourt nah haven't got time for that shit ta

Nicknacky · 26/06/2020 22:00

There isn’t any headquarters in Glasgow now.

TheMurk · 26/06/2020 22:02

Libby Brooks. A Glaswegian herself.

As it states in the article it’s mainly men in there.

The knifeman was Sudanese.

I imagine it’s a pressure cooker like any other hotel filled with fit, healthy, bored, frustrated men would be during 14 weeks of confinement. Not unlike a prison.

indecisiveness1 · 26/06/2020 22:04

It's just awful. My DP works in Glasgow and his digs are right next to where this happened and was out and for something to eat when this happened. Glad to have him home and safe. Devastating for the victims family and friends.

indecisiveness1 · 26/06/2020 22:09

DP says there was a stabbing yesterday when his work mates were out getting food. The street was also cordoned off on Tuesday so lots has been going on apparently. Absolutely shocking, I'm massively anxious for him going back here on Monday.

Redglitter · 26/06/2020 22:34

A disgrace they can't get something so simple right. Totally out of touch arent they

ScottishStottie · 26/06/2020 22:36

Im guessing they meant the station at cowcaddens area?
