Here's a new thread for discussing aircon, aubergines, and Goth music.

Playgrounds open from the 4th July!!!

Nihiloxica · 23/06/2020 12:51

I would be more worried if it suddenly made me fertile again.

Imagine!

We just don't know about the Long Term Effects.

We can't be too careful!

We can meet another household indoors! I can see my parents again! 🎉🎉🎉

mylittleyumyum · 23/06/2020 12:56

Ah bugger, I asked my friend to back up his infertility claims and he just sent me to another David Icke video.

I need more than David Icke as a source dammit!

Has anyone else noticed that people who have sadly died, have sadly died "with Covid-19" and not "from Covid-19?"

BogRollBOGOF · 23/06/2020 13:01

This!! Why do people want to be told what to do so much. I hate it. I was shocked speaking to a good friend recently and bemoaning St Nic. She said - well actually I think it's helpful they tell us what to do as then we know we are doing the right thing hmm. And DP said the same - his group of friends think "people are too stupid" to think for themselves ... it's a dangerous precendent. Where do you draw the line? Are people too stupid to drive? Care for children? Vote?
... sorry ranting now but it really annoys me...

Unfortunatelymany are from looking at the standard of driving on the roads. Plus some of the questions that parents ask. Yes it's ok to leave baby in a safe position for a few minutes to go to the loo or make some lunch. I like to hope that's just a temporary wobble from sleep deprivation and hormones, but it is worrying when common sense and logic fly out of the window and then the dementory types swoop in anout how they never left baby unattended for 6 months and followed all the guidelines perfectly and validate each others' batshiittery/ lies.

There's so many MNers that vow that they have never broken a speed limit which is either delusion/ lying or worse true and they're a crap hesitant driver with no confidence to get near the speed limit.

Worldgonecrazy · 23/06/2020 13:01

@myliitleyumyum
I noticed that too. The stats will be interesting reading.
I also want to know the rates for murders and suicides during lockdown though I think those take a year to come through.

I’ve never been caught breaking the speed limit, therefore it has never happened Grin

mylittleyumyum · 23/06/2020 13:13

I was caught travelling at 45mph in an area that had been changed to a 30.

The worst thing about it, worse than the humiliation of admitting I hadn't seen the new signs, worse than paying the fine, was that I had released a very, very potent puff of gas just prior to being pulled over.

When I rolled down the window to speak to the traffic cop, he physically recoiled.

The shame of it has made me blush again, almost ten years later Blush

Bollss · 23/06/2020 13:15

Good Christ I go and paint a stair case and come back 8 pages into a new thread. I'm off again now to mow the lawn because apparently old job probably won't make me redundant and are going to call me back in.

I've given new work a start date and it'll only leave me three weeks notice.....shit shitting shit.

Unless they do make me redundant...

Fuuuuck sake.

HesterShaw1 · 23/06/2020 13:15

Are these the same people who turn pale if you say you might polish off a couple of bottles of wine in a week. "I might have a taste of champagne at a wedding: I'm not a big drinker". hey, no shit?

Bollss · 23/06/2020 13:18

I thought I'd been caught once. Can't remember what prompted me to do it but I then checked and realised my car was untaxed and had been for 6 months (it's free and I didn't know I had to actually do anything turns out you do) and also I'd failed to change my address from my old house even though I'd been moved a year.

Scariest two weeks of my life waiting for three different driving offenses to come through.

Reader, they never came through.

Ditto. I like to think I drive with a healthy disrgard for the speed limit. I go with the flow and adapt to road conditions/ traffic.

I also have a taste for Champagne at a wedding.

I am just doing supervising from a distance while I stuff my face English for homeschooling and we are talking about alliteration - I don't think I will use vag ventilation as an example Grin

The total and utter lack of common fucking sense elsewhere is genuinely bewildering me today. I really honestly cannot understand how people do not think about anything, they just accept what they are told - even when the lack of logic is totally glaring.

It's like the weaning of DC (I did mine at 12 weeks as that was the advice which would make people Hmm at the moment) but it's as though people think their DC are gremlins or something - DO NOT FEED ONE MINUTE BEFORE ARE SIXTEEN WEEKS as though when the clock ticks to midnight on that day it's suddenly safe.

The total lack of deep thinking and assessing and even fucking reading properly is amazing. Another issue (I could go on all day) was the exemptions for "care of the vulnerable" issue at the height of lockdown. I swear if I saw another post "my mum is 96 and has just come out of hospital and can't move and wants to see me but I can't because I am protecting her" and everyone applauding the wonderful self sacrifice instead of thinking what the fuck.

I am epileptic (like the PPs DH - I'm sorry it's too quick for me to namecheck) and if I have a seizure is he going to say "Sorry Bubbles I have to stay three steps away from you as you are self isolating in the house for shielding, don't bite your tongue or anything will you". Care of the fucking vulnerable, and common fucking sense!!

Gah.

Or worse - they are that driver that drives just below the speed limit no matter what.

Motorway, quiet and good weather conditions = 69 mph
Motorway, busy with heavy rain and spray = still 69 mph

dkl55 · 23/06/2020 13:28

I have a taste for champagne fullstop... Confused But expensive for my daily glass of wine or two though SADLY.

countrygirl99 · 23/06/2020 13:31

We have everyday champagne glasses and special occasion ones. In reality the e everyday ones are the remnants of old sets and are usually used for Prosecco or Cava but it sounds good.
And weddings are allowed from 4th July so DS2 is trying to get organised for some time before 10th when they emigrate. It will be just us as witnesses and we will try and live stream to family.

DominaShantotto · 23/06/2020 13:40

Did they actually say anything about playgrounds?!

Best I can offer on the Cbeebies front is that I used to sit next to the narrator on Tee and Mo in school and nick her gameboy to play Tetris under the lab bench in science lessons.

Ibake · 23/06/2020 13:40

Am feeling very chipper for number of reasons. Vag ventilation is an excellent example of alliteration, make sure you submit his hw for marking.
Also @AnxiousElephant77 shall go to the ball ie her wedding, with actual guests. Am so pleased, and for all others on here who have been waiting for news on events. I think holidays are going to happen also within the next few weeks. All reasons to be cheerful. Even Boris and Keir were polite to each other at PMQ's. I'm going to look at Greece, little owner run b&b with honey and yoghurt for bfast, small cove within walking distance and a selection of beach side tavernas each evening for seafood. No mass catering or lots of people, just small and friendly, money straight into local economy. Sounds like bliss.

countrygirl99 · 23/06/2020 13:41

This is going to be fun. I need to follow a process that I had just picked up when lockdown happened, everything on my projects has been on hold so I haven't needed to do it. I made extensive notes. But the day I was told to work from home I had a single day wfh planned so I never brought anything from the office. Until now I had only missed the nice hand cream.

AnxiousElephant77 · 23/06/2020 13:44

That's so lovely of you to think of me @Ibake we've got 50 day and 50 night guests so hopefully in another 6 months we'll be ok.

Just no to a second wave please.

Drivingdownthe101 · 23/06/2020 13:46

Did they actually say anything about playgrounds?!

BBC are reporting that playgrounds can reopen.

Teateaandmoretea · 23/06/2020 13:46

But not swimming pools Angry

Worldgonecrazy · 23/06/2020 13:48

I swear if I saw another post "my mum is 96 and has just come out of hospital and can't move and wants to see me but I can't because I am protecting her" and everyone applauding the wonderful self sacrifice instead of thinking what the fuck.

Those type of posts always made me think that the poster must really dislike their mum and be looking for excuses not to visit.

My mum is shielding and elderly and said very early on that she’d rather die than Stay shut in the house.
