My hairdresser has just messaged to see if I want to rebook the appointment I was meant to have the weekend after lockdown started! I managed to not quite bite her hand off... waiting to see when she can fit me in 👍

Jourdain11 · 24/06/2020 16:54

@OhFuckOffWithTheBubbleBollocks not at all! I've had a couple of months to get used to it by now. It was upsetting at first, but at least I'm not having to stress about not being able to get it cut! And it was always a pain in the summer. My hair was long and wavy and thick, and I've never been able to take the plunge and get it cut short, even though in the summer that would be sensible!

It is weird it not being there though, I know what you mean. And I realise I must twaddle my hair a lot, when I'm thinking or talking. Sometimes I reach to fiddle with it and it's like, oh - nothing there!

Wales is sticking to the science they say, hence blended learning is staying, 2 metre distance is staying. Our education is already suspect with lower results and easier exams. They are going to be able to blame bad results on covid now instead of their incompetence.

Dowser · 24/06/2020 17:17

My therapist is coming in July to my home.
I asked if we needed to do anything special
No they’ll swab down the treatment bench
Wear masks and gloves and it’s up to us if we want to do the same
I said I’m happy to go along with what they require as we are very relaxed about it.
So are they, so it would appear

In fact he said people need to mix. We need to be able to intermingle and let our immune systems do the work they were designed for.

So that’s, alright then

He’ll probably give me a hug..although he might ask first

I’ll give him a bottle of my home brew ( colloidal silver ) to take away with them.

Are Wales open to visitors this summer and have they dropped the 5 mile rule yet? Their pubs and tourism will be badly affected I think

On this keeping names and details in pubs and restaurants (and cafes) for England opening, this concerns me. Does it mean if anyone in the same place turns out to test positive you as a visitor would be expected to stay home for 14 days etc

Wonder if this will go for gyms and swimming too. Hmm.

justasking111 · 24/06/2020 17:25

Friend has done a webinar course today for his restaurant, this holding details is not so simple, he has to do a GDPR course so that he can legally ask for your details etc. He says he just hands over the details to the government department, he did not say how far the ripples from an infected person would extend. I must ask him.

Will Wales open to visitors, yes sometime, in the next month we anticipate.

Orangeblossom78 · 24/06/2020 17:29

We sometimes go to Wales and stay in a cottage Under the Thatch is the name of the company - lovely cottages.

mylittleyumyum · 24/06/2020 17:30

Afternoon all. I was on such a high yesterday and I am so low today. Weather forecast is shit from today onwards so my littlest yum yum's Saturday garden party is cancelled and I have no clue how to make her day special, as we have done every indoor activity to death.

We were supposed to be flying to Turkey tomorrow, waterpark on her birthday, chartered boat on mine (next Thursday)

To add insult to injury work will not allow any holidays to be cancelled so I will be spending the next two weeks in much the same manner as I've spent the last three months, with no holiday allowance left to even do anything in the latter part of the year. I want to cry

NothingIsWrong · 24/06/2020 17:30

What a long hot shitty day. Coming in here to hide in my safe place. Work has been draining, complicated, frustrating and non productive. I need to crawl into a bottle and hide right now.

But no. The kids were bickering until I lost my shit with them. And now DH is busy telling me how unreasonable and horrible I was and I just want to cry.

That's just shit. They are so insensitive. He should be recognising your stress, pouring you a drink, and getting the kids out from under your feet immediately.
SummerHouse · 24/06/2020 17:42

nothingiswrong you were neither unreasonable nor horrible. It's customary to lose one's shit every now and again and DP has his role wrong. He should be grabbing you a chilled white wine whilst sending you out to the garden and thanking you for being an amazing mum. Wine

SummerHouse · 24/06/2020 17:44

Wow @mylittleyumyum almost identical posts so we must be right!

SummerHouse · 24/06/2020 17:46

Also @mylittleyumyum that is all just shit. If I could I would pour you a chilled white and tell you what an amazing mum you are.

NothingIsWrong · 24/06/2020 17:49

You are both right. He should worship the ground I walk on. He was out in a nice air conditioned office while I was WFH, three kids underfoot, Teams calls coming out my ears on a super sensitive and difficult issue.

It was prompted by youngest accidentally throwing her entire plate of food on the floor for tea. So she had my portion while I cleaned up.

I may go and get a gin and something hideously unhealthy

NothingIsWrong · 24/06/2020 17:50

I stomped off screeching about how I wasn't hungry ANYWAY. But that was a lie.

Orangeblossom78 · 24/06/2020 17:51

Flowers Nothingiswrong, tell him to sod off.

Looks positive in the vaccine

Shodan · 24/06/2020 17:53

Ohhhhhh @TrustTheGeneGenie that's a gorgeous door! I hope mine turns out half so well (although given that I went to Screwfix TWICE today and managed to get the wrong handles TWICE I doubt it Grin)

SummerHouse · 24/06/2020 17:54

Good god *nothing" I would have had a total meltdown. All that brewing stress all day followed by the tea dropping finale! You did well and you are basically a hero.

psychomath · 24/06/2020 17:54

That sounds like a really hard day NothingIsWrong and your DH is being totally unreasonable. Have a gin and a ton of snacks, then sleep it off and hopefully things will look better tomorrow.

Shodan · 24/06/2020 17:58

@mylittleyumyum and @NothingIsWrong I'm sorry you're having shitty days.

I try hard to just accept that some days are going to be shit. But a good cry helps, I find.

That and chocolate and your alcoholic beverage of choice.

NothingIsWrong · 24/06/2020 18:04

I'm currently making my favourite snack. Which is eggy bread grilled cheese. Two slices of bread soaked in egg and then fried with grated mozzarella between them.

Will start on the gin after 6pm. Oh, would you look at the time...

We had an emergency serious issue at work yesterday and I was out on site sorting it until gone 6pm (and it was an hours drive from home) and today I had to deal with the aftermath. And I've got another meeting on Friday which will need a good few hours of prep tomorrow, but at least the smallest two children are in school and I can get some headspace.

Thank you for the good wishes. Calm is returning, albeit it slowly. I just want my normal life back. I think realising that there is going to be no summer holiday childcare has tipped me over the edge a bit today.

Bollss · 24/06/2020 18:04

Thanks @shodan

Oh no that sounds like something I'd do. I am no longer allowed to measure anything in our house as I always manage to get it wrong! Blush

Nihiloxica · 24/06/2020 18:05

That sounds shit, Nothing.

Hope you are chilling out with some gin and crisps and leaving Mr Aircon to look after the kids. Smile

Youngest and I went on the first Bastard Walk for a while. Everyone else got out of the house today for other reasons.

It really is so far from back to normal yet. I think I have been fooling myself a bit to get through it.
