Here's a new thread for discussing aircon, aubergines, and Goth music.

@BarkandCheese Love that Ballard, Victoria Wood was hilarious!

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 23/06/2020 14:44

I’m disgusted by all you Scots who won’t swim without a wetsuit. You need to invest in bioprene [tm] (organic neoprene). Caterpillars help... 😁

Kids going back to school in Scotland in August full time. Parent power 💪🏽

That's amazing news. I'm also keen for gyms to wait another month as I'm not missing the mo they payment Grin

AnxiousElephant77 · 23/06/2020 14:51

Monthly, sun sorry.

Teateaandmoretea · 23/06/2020 14:54

Gutted about the gym though, I'm desperate to get back. Anyone got any thoughts about when their return might be? Swimming too, my eldest was doing lessons.

It’s think literally no one knows, including Boris. He said he would work with the sector so let’s hope he gets his finger out and does so.

The thing I really really don’t get is that outdoor pools are also still shut

Mascotte · 23/06/2020 14:58

Back a few pages, but @Cattermole being recommended counselling after an interview has really amused me 😂😂

What? That's shit.

Nihiloxica. Massive u-turn from Swinney

www.heraldscotland.com/news/18536075.coronavirus-swinney-sets-plan-full-time-schools-colossal-u-turn/

Stil can’t believe that this was in anyway acceptable. What a dick!

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 23/06/2020 15:02

elephant I too am enjoying not paying my membership, and as I can’t go back until the kids are ft in school anyway I’m happy with it right now.

Mascotte · 23/06/2020 15:02

This genuinely shows what can be done when people stand up and say enough is enough. Hurray for Scottish parents 😃

bakingcupcakes · 23/06/2020 15:02

I think I've pretty much missed posting on an entire thread. I have read everything but it's only now I've actually caught up.

I'm glad some of the restrictions are easing. Don't think it's going to make a huge difference to me except that I'll no longer be breaking any rules...what I don't get is why they announce this stuff to so far in advance. Particularly the stuff you can't control like household mixing. Clearly loads of people will just start now or they've already been doing it.

DS went back to school yesterday. He was so excited but it didn't go well. He didn't want to go back today. I think he's too used to do absolutely nothing with me so being expected to tidy/do work has come as a shock. Less than 50% of the kids who could have gone back have gone. I was really surprised.

@Dowser I really like your hair. You and DH did a good job.

@Ibake Have you tried ringing your opticians rather than the GP regarding your son's eye? You might get more help from them.

mylittleyumyum · 23/06/2020 15:03

I could cry I am so happy! I feel like a massive weight has been lifted re my job, the wee ones education, my sanity....

Yes, yes, yes!! :)

NannyPhlegm · 23/06/2020 15:05

Yay to full time school in Scotland! And it's likely to be in England too. This puts the pressure on Wales unions.

Tbf Kirsty Williams has been very pushy about full time schooling, but hasn't been able to push it through. The buck was passed on to LAs who all seem to have taken the easy way out and caved to the unions

HesterShaw1 · 23/06/2020 15:07

What about our lido dammit? The one they've spent north of a million on
DominaShantotto · 23/06/2020 15:09

Household mixing opens up for DD1 to get together with her besties again - I would have fucked off the rules weeks ago for her but they're more rule-driven as they're a military family and live on the base.

HesterShaw1 · 23/06/2020 15:14

What are Da Roolz on households mixing and being out at pubs and stuff?

Can families holiday together in a holiday let?

Blobby10 · 23/06/2020 15:18

I just hugged my dad!!!!! It was wonderful. We work together but he's not been into the factory since 14 Feb due to mum being very ill and then the covid stuff. he's 75 and as fit as a fiddle but has been shielding to protect mum. He just came down to work to fetch something and opened his arms for a hug - I teared up! x

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 23/06/2020 15:33

DH taken kiddos to zoo this afternoon so I could get some peace to work. Failed as news today has had me in tears of happiness. Wales HAS to follow suit now surely. Thank you to parents in Scotland. It's not over yet but there's light now.

I've literally seen dementors exploding left right and centre esp as one official said on the news that people had to learn to live with this virus and things will be forced if necessary.

The no sd comment from Scotland just made me sob. (Happy tears)

rookiemere · 23/06/2020 15:33

Hester I read it as two households could holiday together which means our planned holiday party of 12 consists of two very big households

NannyPhlegm · 23/06/2020 15:35

@MrsArchchancellorRidcully I sobbed tears of joy too. Wales will have to follow because there is a non-tory precedent. I know how ridiculous that sounds but (let's call a spade a spade) a lot of these measures are politically motivated.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 23/06/2020 15:36

@dingit I've thought that about Martin Lewis bring a bit dementory.

Yay to playgrounds. My kiddos will have play areas when we go away!!!!!!!

PickAChew · 23/06/2020 15:37

DH needed to take a trip to Peterlee for some screws, since our own screw fix didn't have the ones he needed in stock.

I hijacked the journey and all four of us have been for a walk in Seaham - yes, DS1 left the house!

There's no wonder Tommy looks so miserable, since Seaham Town Council, in their infinite wisdom, have erected barriers all the way around the massive green surrounding him because "social distancing"

It just meant that there were more people on the pavement 😔

torydeathdrug · 23/06/2020 15:38

Oh well done all you Scottish parents! That’s brilliant 🎉
