Not before time. My proudest achievement is that she blocked me long ago. I really went for her over some thing she posted. She blocked me....I felt a satisfaction because it means I obviously got to her.

Hateful woman.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 19/06/2020 17:51

The thing is, the more people like KH that get banned or cancelled, the more unreasonable anyone slightly left or right of "groupthink" appears, just because they're the only people expressing anything outside the norm. I have no love for KH or NF or any of those sort of people, but I think they should be able to say things freely. She's said things that are tons more hateful than her comment about school dinners. Why has she never been banned for all the racism but has suddenly been banned for this seemingly random comment about school meals? That's what's making raise an eyebrow about this.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 19/06/2020 17:51

I don't agree with her views but I also don't agree with the banning/cancelling/silencing of people either so can't get on board with this.

Her tweet about a "final solution."
How can anyone be OK with her spouting hate filled shit like that?
I'm all for free speech but surely there comes a time when it tips into hate speech....

Spudlet · 19/06/2020 17:51

I kind of hope her children will grow up to be extreme lefties or eco-warriors or something. Hippies in a commune, or the next Swampy. Or Green Party candidates, or something similar. Blue dreadlocks and everything.

It would be wonderful.

ThousandsAreSailing · 19/06/2020 17:51

Social media platforms have too much power. She is banned but all those who threatened JK Rowling are fine to stay. Women get threatened with rape and murder and it is left to stand

Collaborate · 19/06/2020 17:51

Nothing tricky about it at all. It's got nothing to do with free speech as well. She's a hate preacher. She stirs racial hatred. If you're comfortable allowing that on any social media platform take a long hard look in the mirror.

Good riddance. She won't be missed.

FishAreAcquaintancesNotFood · 19/06/2020 17:51

Banning is such an own goal.

Banning people makes them a martyr to their cause. If you let someone speak you let everyone see who they are.

As for banning Trump. He is the president of the United States and like it or not Twitter is how a large percentage of people get their news. It would be no better than the actual news agencies refusing to report on the president which would be actually mad.

If Trump isn't relected this time it will be because the electorate had four years of his Twitter rantings and could see what he actually thought at 2 am. Thank FUCK for it too. .

FishAreAcquaintancesNotFood · 19/06/2020 17:53

I'm all for free speech but surely there comes a time when it tips into hate speech...

Free speech and hate speech are not mutually exclusive. So you can't be all for free speech but only when it's when it's 'nice'.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/06/2020 17:54

She is one of the worst human beings I know of. I don't know to what extent her health problems are responsible for what she does/says, but she does great harm. She said the other day that people (she may have said mothers) shouldn't have children they can't feed. Dozens of people were explaining that people's circumstances can change for all sorts of good, unforeseen reasons. I'm all for freedom of speech but it's not completely unlimited. Nobody has the right to shout 'Fire!' in a crowded theatre.

CorianderLord · 19/06/2020 17:55

@Thisismytimetoshine she has free speech. She can say whatever she wants. But Twitter is a platform owned by someone. In the same way that a pub owner can ask a racist singer to leave the stage, so too can Twitter deny her access to its stage.

YangShanPo · 19/06/2020 17:56

Dd just told me if Covid 19 was a person it would be Katie Hopkins.

isabellerossignol · 19/06/2020 17:56

I thought there was a wonderful irony in her Tweet to Marcus Rashford in a way. Skint Katie Hopkins implying to a man who presumably plays a shitload of tax that he shouldn't have received free school meals as a child. The government probably recouped all that money and then some from him the day he got paid his first salary as a footballer. Which is kind of proof that it was worth it.

MockersMisguidedByTheScience · 19/06/2020 17:58

Oh Dear. How Sad. Never Mind.

Spudlet · 19/06/2020 17:58

This seems apposite.

@ListeningQuietly

Free speech is a fundamental human right, however little we like to hear some of it. Not in this country it's not. Hate speech and provoking hatred are not permitted in the UK or most of the EU and rightly so.

The USA is out of kilter allowing race hate speech to go unchallenged.

Other countries restrict speech too much.
But the UK gets it roughly right.

Twitter is a private business and there is no right to use their platform
CherryValanc · 19/06/2020 17:59

@nogooddeedgoesunpunished

She actually tweeted Marcus Rashford to say " maybe Black women should think about how they're going to feed their children etc " that was cruel after he spoke about his mother struggling to feed him. Of all the things she has tweeted (mostly vile in my opinion) that made me gasp as it was just so nasty. I do think there is a line where you're not allowed to incite racism and she has been hovering over it for years. I actually feel sorry for her children. She seems so bitter and obsessed with being 'provocative' to build a profile.
Didn't she also make racist tweets towards Patrick van Aanholt? It was started due to her tweet about Marcus Rashford.
RightIsRight · 19/06/2020 18:00

They need to start banning the left wingers who threaten you with death just because you’ve voted Tory but they won’t do that, will they?

Violetparis · 19/06/2020 18:00

She's free to say what she wants and Twitter are free to decide whether they want her on their platform.

I think she incites hatred and I'm really glad about this. I was only watching one of her videos on there yesterday, and I thought, I bet she doesn't even believe what she's saying! It's all for effect!

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 19/06/2020 18:02

^ this.
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/06/2020 18:03

I'd ban anybody who threatens anyone else. What's the justification for allowing these violent totalitarians any public platform at all?

tectonicplates · 19/06/2020 18:05

Megan Phelps-Roper, an ex-member of the Westboro Baptist Church, has specifically said in the past that people arguing back at her on Twitter was a huge influence on why she changed her views and decided to leave the church. If she'd been banned, that might not have happened. m.youtube.com/watch?v=bVV2Zk88beY

Iggly · 19/06/2020 18:05

Free speech doesn’t mean you get to break the law. Nor does it absolve you of having common courtesy.

Also twitter is a privately owned platform and the owners can choose who uses it. A bit like mumsnet.

So let’s not enable people like her to spout of racist nonsense without being challenged.

She’s free to say it, just not on Twitter 🤷🏻‍♀️

JacobReesMogadishu · 19/06/2020 18:06

I’m all for free speech but she’s a racist cunt.

Great news.
