If you could live anywhere in the world for a year

No issue with money, you're in a gorgeous house/apartment/complex/ranch (whatever is appropriate for the destination) in a safe neighbourhood. You have an amazing job with decent hours, great holidays (so you can explore your destination) and good career progression if you do this year away. Oh and the money isn't bad.

All pre-covid world of course Wink

I'm currently thinking a 3 bed apartment in East Village, Manhatten. I keep swaying between that and something a bit more nature-y and exotic though...
A view of some sea or mountains would be good. Maybe I'll go more rural Canada.

Manhattan, Kyoto or Buenos Aires.

huuskymam · 20/06/2020 00:03

Iceland or hawaii

copperoliver · 20/06/2020 00:03

Dorset. X

Minimamame · 20/06/2020 00:42

Vancouver for me without a doubt

weegiemum · 20/06/2020 00:44

Guatemala. No doubt about it!

HerRoyalNotness · 20/06/2020 00:48

Hawaii, the kids would be overjoyed

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/06/2020 00:49

The Hollywood Hills.

I would feel right at home.

PurpleGhost · 20/06/2020 00:50

Somewhere on the California coast, preferably a beach house. Or maybe Australia.

WobblyPenumbra · 20/06/2020 00:51

San Francisco looked like a fantastic place to live when I visited twenty-something years ago. Not sure what it’s like now though. I dreamed of my (then non-existent) DC going to Stanford University.

I quite like Oxford, Cambridge and Bath as well, but it seems like a waste of a magic wand to go so close.

RainbowMum11 · 20/06/2020 00:52

New Zealand if I could get a super fast flight back to family/friends if needed; Norway but with the same caveat.
Actually I would like to experience living in most places in the world if I had an easy and guaranteed route home to my family and close friends if they needed me - otherwise I am more than happy to stay where I am and save for holidays.

clpsmum · 20/06/2020 00:59

Japan please

clpsmum · 20/06/2020 01:00

Or Alaska

NinkiNonkiNikau · 20/06/2020 01:00

I’d love to cruise around the Greek islands, or live in Germany for a year

Ludways · 20/06/2020 01:20

When dh and I retire we're going to live 3/6m every year in a different place until we're too old and knackered to do it anymore, I can't decide on just one place, lol

JimmyGrimble · 20/06/2020 01:24

Northern Corfu or Brooklyn. Either would do.

elp30 · 20/06/2020 02:05

Rome

Tillygetsit · 20/06/2020 02:36

The Black Forest. So beautiful. Lovely prople and OMG the food!

prolefeed · 20/06/2020 03:12

Canadian Rockies. House half way up a mountain.

MorningNinja · 20/06/2020 04:15

Crete. Chania region in particular. I'd want a villa near a taverna with sea and mountain views.

My days would be spent mountain biking and swimming in the sea and my evenings would be enjoying a bbq or in the taverna.

BikeRunSki · 20/06/2020 04:18

Also NZ

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 20/06/2020 04:29

I already live by the beach in Australia, but I would do a year in Italy for a change of scenery. A nice little palazzo in Rome would do me!

CatBatCat · 20/06/2020 05:59

Amsterdam

lootsharks · 20/06/2020 06:13

Near the Port Hills in NZ.

Peridot1 · 20/06/2020 06:16

Sydney because my best friend lives there. Have visited quite a few times but it would be lovely to be living there and living close to her day to day.

Otherwise anywhere with a house on a beautiful beach. Not massively touristy but a few nice restaurants/cafes. A beach you can go for long walks on. A deck or porch with a lovely comfy sofa so I can sit and watch the sea and read.

Muscat in Oman - I have visited and adore the culture, the Wadis and Mountains are beyond beautiful.
La Paz in Bolivia - I would love to live in the white city and learn to speak Spanish
Fes in Morocco
French Polynesia
