If you could live anywhere in the world for a year

No issue with money, you're in a gorgeous house/apartment/complex/ranch (whatever is appropriate for the destination) in a safe neighbourhood. You have an amazing job with decent hours, great holidays (so you can explore your destination) and good career progression if you do this year away. Oh and the money isn't bad.

All pre-covid world of course Wink

I'm currently thinking a 3 bed apartment in East Village, Manhatten. I keep swaying between that and something a bit more nature-y and exotic though...
A view of some sea or mountains would be good. Maybe I'll go more rural Canada.

@HelenaNightSoilCart

You homesick too?!

Me, I'd like Tai Tapu. With chooks, a vege garden, and a paddock for a horse.

AnnaNimmity · 19/06/2020 17:43

I'm happy in London too, but would love to live in Copenhagen.

Really though I'm getting itchy feet and would like to go off travelling - south america top to bottom and a bit of sailing in the caribbean.

ListeningQuietly · 19/06/2020 17:44

Burton Bradstock, Dorset

Thurlow · 19/06/2020 17:48

Napa, definitely. As long as there isn't a wildfire or earthquake while we're there!

notalwaysalondoner · 19/06/2020 17:48

The only place I’ve been where I’ve seriously considered relocating is Cape Town - I worked in South Africa for 5-6 months and loved it. I also loved Kenya but Nairobi itself is horrible, but you pretty much have to live there for a decent job. So probably South Africa - the trips you can do on the weekend are incredible.

HelenaNightSoilCart · 19/06/2020 17:49

@mbosnz Yes! Was supposed to be returning to NZ to live this year... on hold for the moment.

Chooks and a veg garden sound great. Might swap the horses for a dog though. 😆

birdbrained · 19/06/2020 17:50

Costa Rica - such a beautiful country with a great political outlook.

@HelenaNightSoilCart

Oh mate. I'm so sorry. This too shall pass!

We're not due to return to live, but we were due to return for a good long visit. Everyone's trying terribly hard to be very stiff upper lip and positive, while hoping no-one notices when we turn around to sniffle into our sav' blanc!

Albert Bridge Road, London

May I just say that at this very moment I am drinking a glass of Pilla Select, THE Venetian aperitivo.

So, I'm fully acclimatised and ready to go, @BabyLlamaZen, just send my tickets ASAP! Grin

dottiedodah · 19/06/2020 18:04

Well as I grew up in London ,maybe a pad overlooking the river ?One of those glass wall homes so beloved of BBC dramas! or maybe a home in Vancouver? (SIL/BIL live there ) overlooking the Hudson.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 19/06/2020 18:49

Either the Pembrokeshire coast or the North Wales coast, in a house looking directly out to sea. It's not exotic but it's beautiful and more importantly it's home. I couldn't leave Wales for long.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 19/06/2020 18:49

Kefalonia

BeforeIPutOnMyMakeup · 19/06/2020 18:52

Hamilton, New Zealand
Copenhagen
Or some random place in Norway

All because after a year I would be fed up of everyone knowing who I was and my business so could go back to London.

TheMadScientist · 19/06/2020 18:55
