If you could live anywhere in the world for a year

No issue with money, you're in a gorgeous house/apartment/complex/ranch (whatever is appropriate for the destination) in a safe neighbourhood. You have an amazing job with decent hours, great holidays (so you can explore your destination) and good career progression if you do this year away. Oh and the money isn't bad.

All pre-covid world of course Wink

I'm currently thinking a 3 bed apartment in East Village, Manhatten. I keep swaying between that and something a bit more nature-y and exotic though...
A view of some sea or mountains would be good. Maybe I'll go more rural Canada.

Tokyo, NYC, or Amsterdam.

A tiny Greek island. No neighbours close by other than my own chickens. Might be a gorgeous man there too who would catch fresh fish for me and then cook it.

Fartlek- our mates who lived in Victoria moved after a year because it rained too much. It’s basically like living in England.

Key West Old Town

So many places I’d love to live but top three would be
Maui
New York
County Kerry (back to my Irish roots)

CallarMorvern · 20/06/2020 20:28

San Diego.

Posted too soon myself and Dh had the opportunity to live in New York 16 years ago but I’d just found out I was pregnant and it didn’t feel the right time.I do wonder if we had gone if we’d still be there. We do go every couple of years and my dd insists that she’ll live there one day

Vietnam by the sea.

Tricky. Ranch would be good so I could bring in the herd and ride lots.

Practically, tho, I’d say Paris. Lived there for a year and love the vibe.

Hawaii, with a large garden , some animals and a 5 minute walk from a none touristy beach.

Veronicat · 20/06/2020 21:20

In the van travelling around my beloved Highlands and Islands. A different place to wake up every few days.

La Cadière d'Azur with my own pool and a size 14 body.... Good to dream, sometimes.

WellGoshDarnIt · 20/06/2020 21:27

A ranch in Montana. Or Wyoming. Or anywhere where there's loads of space, many, many horses and very dark skies, (to see the stars properly).

RandomUsernameHere · 20/06/2020 21:40

London

I was born in Canada and have lived in the UK since I was a year old, but have dual citizenship and recently found out that our children automatically qualify for it too! I'm now in the process of sorting out passports etc. I've done it more so the children can have a chance to live there one day if they want to, but me and DH are very keen on Victoria, BC...

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 20/06/2020 22:00

Copenhagen.

I’m extremely poorly travelled but have been there a few times since a friend moved there and I love it. Am currently looking at job vacancies to move over before Brexit! (Possibly a pipe dream but we’ll give it a go!)
