Do you wonder WTAF?!

Nikhedonia · 07/06/2020 00:01

WTAF is going on at the minute, CoronaVirus, Donald Trump, the fact we still need to be told via protest that Black Lives Matter, seriously WTAF is happening in the world at the moment?!

I don't think I'll articulate this well, but I sometimes just think that this is a very weird time to be be alive. There's so much of it that is almost difficult to comprehend.

Yes, I do.

And I can’t find the words, either.

Pelleas · 07/06/2020 00:06

I am an agnostic, but I used to be friends with someone who was a very devout Christian and talked a great deal about the apocalypse - this was the sort of thing she used to describe. I keep meaning to dig out my copy of Nostradamus to see if he predicted it.

CountessFrog · 07/06/2020 00:07

Oh Lordy! Mind you, we did have fire, then plague...

Pelleas · 07/06/2020 00:09

Don't forget the floods at the start of the year!

user764329056 · 07/06/2020 00:10

This entire year is a write-off, just unbelievable

CountessFrog · 07/06/2020 00:11

Ah yes, the floods. I knew I was missing one.

Apocalypse bingo!

Nousernamehistory · 07/06/2020 00:13

The world really feels like it's on fire. The scenes on the news feel like the beginning of every apocalypse film I've ever seen.

Pelleas · 07/06/2020 00:16

All we need now are some locusts.

AdoptedBumpkin · 07/06/2020 00:18

I've been thinking this since 2016!

undercoveraessedai · 07/06/2020 00:18

I'm pretty sure there were/are locusts in East Africa - they've just been pushed out of the news by everything else.

I know what you mean OP - we're living through history and I don't like it at all Blush

FliesandPies · 07/06/2020 00:20

Don't forget the Plague of Twats in government.

Jingstohang · 07/06/2020 00:21

I had a lot of surgery about 10 years ago - I comfort myself with the thought that I'm still on the operating table and havent woken up yet. This is all just a very vivid surgery dream...

jpclarke · 07/06/2020 00:21

We are living in very surreal times, it's hard to comprehend a world where for months we would be telling children that they can't go to school, they can't see their friends, they can't see grandparents and yet we forgot to protect nursing homes. It definitely feels like some is trying to tell us something we aren't even allowed to properly grieve our loved ones who die. We have to queue now to get into shops but barely queue to pay for items. We are living in a world gone mad.
We have the BLM protests being over shadowed by opportunists looting and causing trouble taking away from the true meaning of the protest. We have the times up campaigns, brexit, another recession on the way. It really is a world gone crazy.

Pelleas · 07/06/2020 00:22

I sometimes wonder if, in a Sliding Doors scenario, we've split off into this nightmare and somewhere, there is a parallel 2020 that's going on as normal.

However, that cuts both ways in that it might be like when you get out of a motorway traffic jam that's affected traffic in both directions - as you're driving away from the jam down the southbound lane, you look somewhat smugly at the people in the northbound lane who have it all yet to come.

Jingstohang · 07/06/2020 00:24

How do we open the other door please?

Pelleas · 07/06/2020 00:26

Jingstohang Well, first you hit the 'pause' button, then you press 'rewind' ...

blueberrymuffin88 · 07/06/2020 00:26

I know. I've been thinking exactly this. It just keeps accumulating. Every morning I wake up and feel like I'm living in a dystopian nightmare. I am trying so so hard to find the positives but it really is terrifying how much and how fast things can change for the worse 😢

CountessFrog · 07/06/2020 00:27

Interesting idea!

Plague of twats. Love this!

Nameynameychangey1234555554544 · 07/06/2020 00:28

Yes definately feel this year is very apocalypse-y.

Flood, fire, plague, locusts, riots

Just waiting for trump to descend into war and perhaps a drought to top it all off.

Just sat at home powerless going WTF

Timesdone · 07/06/2020 00:28

And Brexit is yet to come

Pelleas · 07/06/2020 00:30

I wake up and feel like I'm living in a dystopian nightmare.

I keep a diary and I also write fiction. For the last four months, writing my diary has felt like writing fiction - but really bad, cliched dystopian fiction. 'Second week of lockdown ...' etc. - if I were writing my diary as a novel, I'd be embarrassed.

CountessFrog · 07/06/2020 00:35

Ironic really that Boris was so desperate to be PM. Just thought he’d swoop in and get Brexit done.

Pelleas · 07/06/2020 00:36

You're not wrong. Talk about a poisoned chalice! Not that he doesn't deserve it.

CountessFrog · 07/06/2020 00:38

To be fair, nobody could have coped with it.

If he threw the towel in and fucked off - if they all did - I doubt any of us would rush to replace them!

Nikhedonia · 07/06/2020 00:38

It's almost as if there are so many 'big things' happening at once that my brain can't quite comprehend it. I don't think I've actually fully understood it yet.

And yes, dystopian nightmare sounds about right.

I just keep thing, WTAF is going on, what have I brought my daughter into?! She's in reception and goes back to school next week, I've had to keep telling her to remember that she shouldn't touch other children or teachers etc. She won't remember, I get that, but I need to keep telling her. How do you even begin to explain police officers killing people in the streets, that Donald Trump is president (all all the fuckery that comes with that?!)
